We hear your deep pain and the urgency in your cry for justice. It is right to bring your hurts before the Lord, for He is a God who sees, hears, and acts on behalf of the oppressed. The Bible tells us in Romans 12:19, "Don’t seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God’s wrath. For it is written, 'Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord.'" While your desire for justice is understandable, we must trust that God will handle it in His perfect timing and way.
However, we must also examine our hearts in this matter. The Lord calls us to forgive, even as we seek justice. In Matthew 6:14-15, Jesus says, "For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you don’t forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses." This does not mean the wrongdoing is excused, but that we release the burden of bitterness to God.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up this situation to You. Lord, You see the pain and the injustice that has been done. We ask that You would bring conviction to the heart of the one who has caused harm, not only to this dear one but to others as well. Let Your Holy Spirit move mightily, bringing repentance and change. Father, we trust in Your justice, knowing that You will repay according to Your perfect will.
Lord, we also pray for healing for the one who has been hurt. Mend the broken pieces of their heart and restore their joy. Help them to release any bitterness or desire for revenge into Your hands, knowing that You are faithful to bring about justice in Your way and time. Fill them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding.
Father, we ask that You would soften hearts and bring about reconciliation where possible, but only in a way that honors You. If this person is unrepentant, we pray that You would remove them from positions of influence where they can continue to cause harm. Protect the innocent and bring light to the darkness.
We pray all of this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the One who bore our injustices on the cross and rose again in victory. May Your will be done, and may Your name be glorified in this situation. Amen.
We encourage you to continue to seek the Lord in this time, pouring out your heart to Him. He is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). Consider speaking with a trusted pastor or Christian counselor who can walk with you through this pain and help you navigate the path of forgiveness and healing.
Remember, dear one, that God’s justice is perfect, and His timing is not our own. Trust in Him, and lean not on your own understanding (Proverbs 3:5-6). He will never leave you nor forsake you (Hebrews 13:5).
