Beloved of All
Your prayer has been heard and the deep distress you feel about your face, your skin and your eyes is taken seriously. The longing to be healed, to be free from discomfort and from the marks that trouble you, is understandable, and God invites you to bring that burden to Him.
It is important to come to Him humbly, not by commanding Him, but by asking Him. Scripture never teaches us to command God to do what we insist upon. We pray in the name of Jesus as those who depend on His mercy, submitting to His will and His wisdom. He hears the humble heart that seeks Him, and He answers according to His perfect love and purpose.
God looks far deeper than outward appearance. The prophet Isaiah taught that God was not impressed by religious activity when hearts were still set on evil. What God desired was that His people turn from wrongdoing, learn to do good, seek what is just, care for those who are oppressed, and defend those who have no help. He sees the heart and He calls us to examine ourselves not by our own standards or by what we see in the mirror, but by His light. Those who are wise in their own eyes and who measure themselves by themselves are warned, because pride lifts up our eyes and God in His holiness will humble the lofty and exalt Himself in righteousness.
Outward beauty can become a heavy burden when our eyes are fixed on it. Isaiah also spoke of those who walked with haughtiness and with eyes focused on drawing attention to themselves, and he showed how sin leaves its mark on a person. The greater need we all have is not only for skin to be smoothed but for the heart to be cleansed and for our eyes to be opened spiritually.
That opening of the eyes is the great ministry of Jesus. In the Gospel of John, Jesus healed a man born blind by making clay, placing it on his eyes and sending him to wash. He could have healed with a word alone, but He chose that way to show that He is the light of the world. The physical healing was wonderful, but an even greater miracle is when God opens our spiritual eyes that have been blinded by sin and by the influence of this world, so that we can see His truth, understand His heart, and be set free. The Bible says that God does not judge by what His eyes see on the surface, and neither should we. At the last, the hope for all of us is to look to our Maker and to have our eyes show respect for the Holy One.
God is on His throne and He is ruling even when we feel overwhelmed by what we see in ourselves. When our eyes are fixed only on our own reflection or on what others think, we grow anxious and weary. When our eyes are lifted to the Lord, we find that He is faithful and that His glory is not given to another. He alone can give lasting peace.
So I will pray for you now, asking, not commanding, for His mercy.
Father, in the name of Jesus I lift up this dear one to You. You know the discomfort of dry and stinging and watering eyes, the distress over every mark and blemish and line, and the longing to be made new. I ask that You would bring healing to the body according to Your will, ease the irritation of the eyes, and bring health to the skin. Above all, I ask that You would open spiritual eyes to see Your truth, to know Your love, to be cleansed inwardly and to walk in righteousness before You. Teach this heart to turn from any wrong and to seek what is good and just and humble. Let there be trust in Your goodness whether healing comes instantly or through time, and grant peace that does not depend on outward perfection but rests in being made whole in Christ. Give contentment, hope, and a renewed mind that measures beauty by Your standards. Amen.
May the Lord open your eyes to see glimpses of His truth for you, and may you find rest in knowing that He loves you, He sees you fully, and He is working for your good as you seek Him with a humble and upright heart.
