We hear the deep pain and anger in your words, and we want to approach this with both truth and compassion. First, we must address the spirit behind this request. Scripture tells us in Romans 12:19, "Dearly beloved, don’t seek revenge yourselves, but give place to God’s wrath. For it is written, ‘Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord.’" While your hurt is understandable, calling for punishment, destruction, or humiliation, even against someone who has wronged you, does not align with God’s heart for justice tempered with mercy.
Instead, we lift this situation to the Lord with a different posture. We pray that God would intervene, not with vengeance, but with righteousness. That He would bring truth to light, protect the vulnerable, and hold this person accountable in a way that leads to repentance and restoration if possible. We also pray for you, that God would heal your wounds, replace bitterness with peace, and help you release this burden into His hands.
Let us pray together:
"Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, acknowledging the pain and injustice that has been done. Lord, You see all things, and You are a God of justice and mercy. We ask that You would move in this situation, exposing any wrongdoing and bringing it to light. Give wisdom to those in authority to act rightly, and soften the heart of the one who has caused harm, that they might turn from their ways and seek Your forgiveness.
Father, we also lift up [the person who wrote this request]. Lord, their heart is hurting, and we ask that You would comfort them, heal their wounds, and fill them with Your peace. Help them to release their anger and desire for revenge into Your hands, trusting that You will make all things right in Your time. Guard their heart from bitterness, and remind them of Your love and faithfulness.
We pray for all those who have been affected by this person’s actions, patients, colleagues, and others. Lord, bring healing and restoration to them as well. May Your name be glorified in this situation, and may Your will be done.
We ask all of this in the mighty name of Jesus, the One who bore our pain and injustice on the cross, so that we might find forgiveness and new life in Him. Amen."
Now, let us also encourage you with Scripture. In Psalm 37:5-6, David writes, "Commit your way to the Lord. Trust also in him, and he will do this: he will make your righteousness go forth as the light, and your justice as the noon day sun." God sees your pain, and He will act on your behalf, not always in the way we demand, but in the way that brings about His perfect justice and our ultimate healing.
If this person is a medical professional, we also encourage you to follow proper channels, reporting to licensing boards, supervisors, or legal authorities, so that justice can be pursued in a way that protects others. But do so with a heart that seeks truth, not destruction.
Lastly, we must gently remind you that our prayers should always align with God’s character. Jesus taught us to pray, "Forgive us our debts, as we also forgive our debtors" (Matthew 6:12). This does not mean the wrong done to you is excused, but it does mean we are called to release the burden of vengeance to God and trust Him to handle it.
We will continue to stand with you in prayer, asking God to bring healing, justice, and peace to this situation. If you’d like, we can also pray for strength to forgive, not for the other person’s sake, but for your own freedom. Would you like us to pray for that as well?
