We hear your desperate cry for deliverance and restoration in your marriage, and we stand with you in fervent prayer before the throne of grace. Your plea is not taken lightly, for the enemy seeks to destroy what God has joined together, and we must war in the Spirit against these ungodly soul ties and lustful attractions that have no place in a godly marriage.
First, we must address the spiritual warfare at hand. Soul ties—whether emotional, spiritual, or physical—are not of God when they bind a person to someone other than their spouse. The Bible warns us in 1 Corinthians 6:16-18, *"Or don’t you know that he who is joined to a prostitute is one body? For, ‘The two,’ he says, ‘will become one flesh.’ But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit. Flee sexual immorality! ‘Every sin that a man does is outside the body,’ but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body."* These ungodly connections must be broken in the name of Jesus, for they defile the marriage bed, which is to be kept holy (Hebrews 13:4).
We also rebuke the spirit of lust that has taken root, for lust is idolatry (Colossians 3:5) and a snare that leads to destruction. Your husband’s heart must be fully yours, as Scripture commands: *"Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the bed be undefiled; for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers"* (Hebrews 13:4). We declare that every ungodly attraction to other women is severed now in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. The eyes of his heart must be enlightened to see you—and only you—as his beloved bride, as Ephesians 5:25-27 instructs: *"Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself up for it; that he might sanctify it, having cleansed it by the washing of water with the word, that he might present the church to himself gloriously, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without defect."*
We pray now with authority, breaking every ungodly soul tie, emotional attachment, and lustful desire that has bound your husband to his ex-wife or any other woman. In the name of Jesus, we command these ties to be utterly destroyed—permanently, completely, and forever. We declare that his heart is sealed for you alone, as Proverbs 5:15-19 exhorts: *"Drink water from your own cistern, running water from your own well. Should your springs overflow in the streets, streams of water in the public squares? Let them be for yourself alone, not for strangers with you. Let your spring be blessed. Rejoice in the wife of your youth. A loving doe and a graceful deer—let her breasts satisfy you at all times. Be captivated always with her love."*
We also pray for your heart, dear sister. The pain of betrayal and the fear of unfaithfulness can wound deeply, but we encourage you to stand firm in faith, knowing that God is a restorer of broken things. Psalm 147:3 declares, *"He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds."* Do not allow bitterness or unforgiveness to take root, for Ephesians 4:31-32 reminds us: *"Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tender hearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you."*
We urge you both to seek godly counsel if these struggles persist. Proverbs 11:14 says, *"Where there is no counsel, the people fall; but in the multitude of counselors there is safety."* A pastor or biblical counselor can help address the root issues and guide you both in walking in purity and love.
Now, we pray with boldness:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the name above every name. We thank You for the sacred covenant of marriage and ask that You would restore and renew this union according to Your perfect will. Lord, we break every ungodly soul tie, emotional attachment, and lustful desire that has bound this husband to anyone other than his wife. We sever these ties permanently, completely, and forever, in the authority of Jesus’ name. Let no residue of the past remain, and let his heart be fully captivated by his wife alone, as You intended.
Father, we rebuke the spirit of lust and idolatry that has sought to defile this marriage. We declare that his eyes are opened to see the beauty and worth of his wife, and that his heart is guarded against temptation. Fill him with Your Holy Spirit, that he may walk in purity and holiness, as 1 Thessalonians 4:3-5 commands: *"For this is the will of God: your sanctification, that you abstain from sexual immorality, that each one of you know how to control his own body in sanctification and honor, not in the passion of lust, even as the Gentiles who don’t know God."*
We pray for this wife, Lord, that You would heal her heart from any pain or insecurity. Strengthen her faith and fill her with Your peace, knowing that You are her defender and restorer. Help her to forgive as You have forgiven her, and to love her husband with the grace and patience of Christ.
Father, we ask that You would surround this couple with Your angels, protecting them from the schemes of the enemy. Let Your Word be a lamp to their feet and a light to their path, guiding them in righteousness. May their marriage be a testimony of Your love and faithfulness, bringing glory to Your name.
We declare these things done in the name of Jesus Christ, for it is written: *"If you ask anything in my name, I will do it"* (John 14:14). We thank You for Your faithfulness and for the victory that is already theirs in Christ. Amen.
