Vengeance is the Lord’s

Anonymous

Beloved of All
We know this fact on these monsters that tried to destroy our lives. However our God is a good Avenger of this on these predators that really need you Jesus convict them all now. Amen

We hear the deep pain and righteous anger in your words as you cry out for justice against those who have sought to harm you. The wounds inflicted by predators, those who exploit, manipulate, and destroy lives, are not easily healed, and the desire for vengeance can burn fiercely within us. Yet Scripture is clear: "Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, 'Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.'" (Romans 12:19 WEB). The Lord sees every injustice, and His justice is perfect, far beyond what human hands could ever administer.

But we must also examine our hearts in this. While it is right to long for justice, we must guard against bitterness taking root, for it can poison our souls. "See to it that no one falls short of the grace of God and that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many." (Hebrews 12:15 WEB). The Lord calls us to forgive, not because what was done was acceptable, but because unforgiveness chains us to the very pain we seek to escape. This does not mean we excuse evil or fail to seek earthly justice where appropriate, but we release the burden of vengeance to God, trusting that He will deal with them in His time and way.

We also lift up these predators before the throne of grace. You asked for Jesus to convict them, and indeed, the Holy Spirit is the One who brings conviction of sin (John 16:8). There is hope for even the hardest of hearts, for "The Lord is not slow concerning his promise, as some count slowness; but is patient with us, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance." (2 Peter 3:9 WEB). We pray that their eyes would be opened to the depth of their wickedness, that they would fall on their knees in repentance, and that God’s mercy would break their pride. If they refuse to turn, then His justice will be all the more severe.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up the pain and betrayal that has been inflicted. Lord, You see every tear, every wound, and every injustice. We release our desire for vengeance into Your hands, trusting that You will repay according to Your perfect justice. Convict the hearts of those who have done evil, O God. Let them see the weight of their sins and turn to You in repentance. If they refuse, let Your judgment fall upon them without delay.

Father, we also ask for healing for the broken places in our lives. Where bitterness has taken root, uproot it by Your Spirit. Fill us with Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, and remind us that You are our Defender and our Strong Tower. Help us to walk in forgiveness, not because the wrongs done to us were small, but because You have forgiven us so much.

We declare that no weapon formed against us shall prosper, and every tongue that rises against us in judgment, You will condemn (Isaiah 54:17). Strengthen us to walk in Your ways, to trust in Your timing, and to rest in the knowledge that You are a God who sees and acts on behalf of the oppressed.

In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the Righteous Judge, we pray. Amen.

We hear the deep pain behind your words, and we grieve with you for what was done. When someone has tried to destroy your life, the anger is not a small thing, it is the natural cry of a heart that has been deeply wronged. What you are naming before God matters, because abuse of any kind strikes at the core of who we are, crushing the spirit in ways that can last far longer than any physical wound.

You are already doing something profoundly healthy: you are placing these offenders and what they deserve into God's hands rather than carrying the burden of vengeance yourself. That is not weakness. It is an act of trust that the One who sees every hidden thing and knows the full truth will deal justly with what was done, in His way and His time. You do not have to manufacture warm feelings toward them, and forgiveness does not mean pretending the harm was small or letting them back into your life unchecked. Right now, what matters is that you are free from the exhausting work of being their judge and jury.

When the memories or the anger surge, we encourage you to keep doing what you have already begun: speak it aloud to Jesus, as you did here, and leave the outcome with Him. Ask Him to guard your own heart from being consumed by what they deserve. He is able to bring conviction where it is needed, and He is also able to carry the weight you were never meant to shoulder alone.

Jesus, You see what was done and the damage these wounds have caused. We ask You to bring Your justice where it is needed and Your healing where this dear one still hurts. Guard their heart from bitterness, and let them rest in the safety of Your care. Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

It is indeed written, “Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.” And in that word we find both our comfort and our check. That the wicked should not go unpunished is a truth woven into the very fabric of the universe, for God is not a careless Governor to let rebellion trample His law forever. Yet the day of vengeance is wrapped in the mystery of the eternal purpose, and it springs not from a petulant wrath but from the awful serenity of unimpeachable justice. He is slow to anger, slow to draw the bow, but when at last the arrow flies, it misses not its mark. Remember that the God who avenges is the same God who, in the day of His vengeance, made acceptance to ring out from the pierced hands of His own Son. Upon that bloody tree justice and mercy embraced, for Christ stood in the sinner’s place, and the full weight of divine vengeance fell upon Him that it might never fall upon those who find refuge beneath His cross.

You speak of monsters, of predators, of those who sought your ruin. I do not soften the word; sin is monstrous, and those who make themselves instruments of Satan to devour the lambs of Christ’s flock shall find their judgment sure. But beware lest a carnal desire for retaliation creep into your prayer, masking itself under a zeal for God’s honor. The Lord Jesus bade us love our enemies and pray for them that despitefully use us. This is no easy word, yet it is the command of the King. The conviction we crave for them must be the kind that leads to repentance, not the thunderbolt that sends them shrieking into the pit. For if they perish impenitent, it will be with a doom so terrible that even the saints shall weep to see it, for the day of vengeance is in the heart of Him who delighted in mercy. It is a fearful thing when God, who was once the sinner’s patient Seeker, at last becomes his swift destroyer.

Plead rather that the Holy Spirit may so trample on their stony hearts with the iron hoof of conviction that they may look upon Him whom they have pierced and mourn. It is not yet the last tremendous day. There is yet an open door; the very fact that they draw breath is a merciful reprieve. For the present, the sword of justice sleeps in its scabbard, and the herald of grace still cries, “Whosoever will, let him come.” Surely it is a mystery that the very enemies of the cross may yet become trophies of its power. Saul of Tarsus breathed out threatenings, yet he became an apostle. Therefore, let your prayer be salted with the hope that those who now afflict you may one day sing with you around the throne. If they will not, then God’s justice will vindicate His own name; but sit not as though you would light the faggots yourself. That day is God’s alone. Walk in the King’s highway of patient faith, under the angelic protection appointed for all who put their trust in Him. The very stars in their courses fight for you; the wrath of man shall praise Him, and the remainder He will restrain. Commit your cause to the Judge of all the earth, He is too wise to err and too good to be unkind.

You know the words, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord,” yet your heart still yearns for swift punishment upon those who harmed you. I understand this fire within, but listen carefully: if you truly desire revenge, do not seek it yourself. For when you take vengeance into your own hands, you lose the only true avenger. God Himself says, “Give place to wrath.” Leave the matter in His hands, and He will repay; grasp it yourself, and you make Him your opponent rather than your defender.

Think of it this way. If you return evil for evil, you sink to the level of those who wronged you; there is no difference between you. But if you endure with patience, if you do good to those who seek your hurt, you achieve a victory far greater than any punishment could bring. You will shame them and weary them of their malice. All who see your forbearance will admire you and reproach them; they become your avengers without any stain of passion on your part. What more bitter blow to an enemy than to see you honored and himself condemned?

Do not pray for their conviction as a personal vindication. The truly wise ruler does not demand an eye for an eye; he weeps for the sinner. And those tears, offered in genuine sorrow for another’s hardness, move God to act far more powerfully than any cry for immediate vengeance. When you lament their state, God inflicts what justice requires. But if you rejoice at the prospect of their punishment, you only wound your own soul.

Let the fear of hell and the hope of the kingdom shape your desires. Consider the fire that awaits unrepented sin, and let that thought quench your thirst for earthly revenge. The vengeance God brings when He finally sends forth judgment unto victory will be perfect and complete; trust His timing. Your part now is not to call down wrath, but to seek your own deliverance from evil by forgiving as you have been forgiven. Turn the other cheek, not in weakness, but in the strength of one who knows that patience and goodness are the weapons that truly conquer.

I can hear the deep wound behind your prayer. What was done to you was evil, and the cry for God to act is not wrong in itself. He does see, He does record, and He has promised that vengeance belongs to Him. The difficulty is not in wanting justice, it is in the space between the injury and the day when God makes all things right.

That space is dangerous for us. I know my own heart well enough to confess that when I think of someone preying on the vulnerable, my first impulse is not to wait for divine vengeance. My flesh wants to take hold of it myself. And that is where I have learned to pray, “Lord, keep my heart from devising vengeance. Keep me from wanting to take it into my own hands.” The desire for justice can curdle into a poison within us if we rehearse it without releasing it to Him.

His promise is that a day of righteous judgment is coming. The vengeance has not yet come. It is still future. When the Lord reigns, those wicked elements will be purged, and He will do it with perfect knowledge and perfect justice. But right now, the delay is not indifference; it is the outworking of a mercy none of us deserved. On my own merits, I could not stand before Him demanding justice. I need mercy. What I have received is not what I deserve.

I have also seen that God’s healing often reaches places the law never touches. Some people carry deep emotional scars, and over time, the Lord does a divine healing in the mind and heart. That is real. It is not just physical recovery; it is the slow work of pulling the sting out of the memory and breaking the power of the wound. Cry out for that healing for yourself, even as you cry out for conviction on those who harmed you.

The hardest step is choosing the posture Jesus described. He calls us to return blessing for cursing and to pray for our enemies. That does not mean pretending the sin is less than it is. It means refusing to let their sin dictate the shape of your own soul. Bring them before the true Judge. He knows exactly what to do. And bring your own heart before Him, letting Him cleanse you from the bitterness that would only wound you further.
