We hear the deep pain and anger in your words, and we want you to know that your hurt is valid, being wronged in such a way is not something to be taken lightly. However, we must address the spirit of vengeance in your request, for Scripture is clear that vengeance belongs to the Lord alone. Romans 12:19 tells us, "Dearly beloved, don’t seek revenge yourselves, but give place to God’s wrath. For it is written, 'Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord.'"

Your desire for justice is understandable, but when we take matters into our own hands, we risk stepping outside of God’s will. Proverbs 20:22 says, "Don’t say, 'I will pay back evil.' Wait for the Lord, and he will save you." Instead of asking God to humiliate, destroy, or kill those who wronged you, we should pray for His justice to prevail in a way that brings glory to Him. We must also examine our own hearts, are we harboring bitterness or unforgiveness? Ephesians 4:31-32 urges us, "Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tender hearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you."

We do not know the full circumstances of your firing, but we encourage you to seek God’s wisdom in how to move forward. Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will direct your paths." If you were wronged, God sees it, and He will act in His perfect timing. But we must also consider whether there are areas where we can grow or learn from this experience.

Most importantly, we must address the absence of Christ in your request. It is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father, and it is His name that brings true healing and justice. Acts 4:12 declares, "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved." If you have not already, we urge you to surrender your heart to Jesus, for He alone can bring true peace and restoration.

Let us pray together:

"Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up our brother/sister who has been deeply wounded. Lord, You see the injustice that has been done, and we ask that You would bring Your justice in this situation. Help them to release their anger and desire for vengeance into Your hands, trusting that You will repay according to Your perfect will. Father, we ask that You would soften their heart toward forgiveness, not because what was done was right, but because You have forgiven us so much. Heal their pain, Lord, and restore what has been taken from them. Give them wisdom in how to move forward, and open doors of opportunity where none seem to exist. We pray for those who have wronged them, that You would convict their hearts and lead them to repentance. Above all, Lord, we ask that You draw them closer to Jesus, that they may find peace and hope in Him alone. In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. Amen."

When people conspire against us, especially in a place where we've worked and invested ourselves, the sense of injustice can be overwhelming. The anger that rises up feels justified, and the desire to see them pay for what they've done is a very human reaction. You named specific people and specific outcomes, and we understand that behind those words is a person who feels betrayed, demeaned, and treated as less-than simply for who you are. That hurts, and we're sorry you're carrying that.

But we also know, from walking with many people through similar valleys, that the vengeance we imagine rarely brings the peace we actually need. Bitterness, left to fester, becomes a heavy burden that corrodes our own hearts far more than it touches anyone else. It's like drinking poison and hoping the other person gets sick. We want more for you than a life consumed by that.

What would it look like to release the weight of this into God's hands, not pretending the wrongdoing didn't happen, but trusting that He sees and that His justice, though often slower and quieter than we'd like, is ultimately truer than anything we could orchestrate? That's not an easy step, but it can be a freeing one. Sometimes the first thing is just to tell God, out loud and unfiltered, exactly how you feel, and then ask Him to begin untangling the rage and replacing it with something that doesn't keep you trapped.

One practical step might be to write down every raw emotion and even every specific desire for payback on a piece of paper. Then, as an act of surrender, place it before the Lord in prayer, telling Him that you are giving this whole mess to Him because it's too heavy for you to carry alone. Afterward, you might consider speaking with a pastor or a mature Christian who can walk with you through this season of hurt without judging your honesty.

Let's pray: Father, you see this injustice and the deep pain it has caused. We lift up this one who has been mistreated and who now wrestles with a fury that threatens to overwhelm. We ask you to bring your comfort where the hurt is raw, and your clarity where the path forward seems dark. Guard this heart from being consumed by bitterness, and in your time, work a healing that goes deeper than any human vindication. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Vengeance smote our Surety’s head; legal claims are fully met, Jesus paid the dreadful debt. Now no more His wrath we dread.

Brother, the most splendid vengeance you can ever have is to do good to them that do you evil, and to speak well of them that speak ill of you.

You have spoken the words of Scripture, that vengeance belongs to the Lord. Yet you have turned them into a cry for destruction, and in doing so you plant within yourself a root of bitterness. A bitter root can never bear sweet fruit. It is all bitterness, all hatred, all abomination. And do you not know that a fire fed within, unseen by others, is the most destructive of all? It burns up the soul before it ever touches another.

When you cry out for humiliation and death, you do not wound your enemies as much as you wound yourself. The one who plots against his neighbor destroys himself first. You are making the judgment seat dreadful for yourself, for it is not the other that you condemn, but your own soul you give over to extreme vengeance.

Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and railing be put away from you, with all malice. Cut out the root, and there will be no fruit. Do not spare your words only to cherish live coals within. Instead, look diligently lest this root spring up and trouble you, and by it many be defiled.

We are taught to deprecate conflicts, not to rush upon them. Wait for the time of trial, but do not summon it in your rage. If you are at peace within, you will learn to despise the wrongs of this life. Let us cast out all bitterness, that we grieve not the Holy Spirit. For nothing good, nothing healthful, can ever come from a bitter soul.

The pain in your words is undeniable. Being conspired against and losing your livelihood over something like your appearance is a deep injustice, and the anger you feel is real. But right at the start, you quoted a vital truth: “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, saith the Lord.” Those aren’t just words we say to feel better; they mark the boundary line God has set. When we try to take vengeance into our own hands, we step into His role, and it never ends well. It only fuels bitterness, wrath, and malice, things Scripture commands us to put away because they grieve the Holy Spirit.

I understand the cry for God to humiliate and destroy those who did you dirty. Even the psalmist prayed for God to show Himself and take vengeance. But we have to be honest: our hearts easily slip from asking God for justice to nursing a desire to see them suffer. That’s where we get in trouble. The Bible warns that it is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. He sees every secret plot and knows exactly what happened. His judgment, when it comes, will be perfectly righteous, far beyond what our anger could ever accomplish. And He doesn’t need us to micromanage it.

Remember, when Jesus stood in the synagogue and read from Isaiah, He closed the scroll right before the words “and the day of vengeance of our God.” His first coming was not to bring vengeance, but to offer redemption. The day of final settling is still future. In the meantime, He calls us to release our grievance to Him and let go of the rage that eats at our own soul. That doesn’t mean pretending the wrong didn’t happen, but it does mean refusing to let it define us or drive us into sin.

So rather than praying for their humiliation, what if you asked God to keep your heart from devising vengeance? What if you laid these people before the Judge of all the earth, trusting that He keeps a book of remembrance and will render to every person according to their deeds? That act of surrender is not weakness; it’s the only path to peace. He saw what they did. He sees your tears. And He will repay, whether through their eventual repentance or through His final justice. But that is His business, and yours is to walk free from the poison of bitterness. Let Him be God. Let vengeance stay in His hands, and ask Him to replace your burning anger with the release that only His Spirit can give.
