Utter evil, hard hearts, lack of remorse, lowest morale, psychopathy, violent opposition

Your pain and the danger you have endured have been heard with deep sorrow. To receive electric shocks while showering, to bear wounds on your skin, to have medical reports confirming this, and then to be met not with apology or help but with threats, with demands for fees, with blocking of communication and with attempts to falsify reports, is a heavy affliction. It is right that you have sought prayer, and it is right to ask God both for protection and for justice.

What you describe in these people is hardness of heart. As Scripture teaches, hardness makes the soul callous, and what is callous does not yield to the physician's hand, nor does the hardened soul yield to the word of God. From such hardness comes unbelief and a lack of feeling, so that even great wrongs do not prick the conscience. Yet the same Scriptures teach that repentance still has great force. Even one who has fallen into the depth of wickedness can be set free from the burden of sins if he will lay hold on repentance. Godly sorrow works repentance unto salvation, a repentance which brings no regret, while worldly sorrow and despair only destroy. To sin is grievous, but to despair and to refuse repentance is more grievous still, for it prevents the wound from being healed. He who hinders a wound from being healed is held to account even more than he who inflicted it.

Therefore we will pray with you, and we urge you not to give way to despair. The Lord sees affliction and delivers the righteous out of it. He is near to those who suffer unjustly, and He will bring truth to light. At the same time, learn as the poor learn to give thanks to God even in the furnace, not because the evil is good, but because thanksgiving keeps the heart meek and safe and guards you from bitterness while you wait for the Lord's deliverance. Continue also to use lawful and orderly means to protect your life and to establish the truth, keeping careful records, seeking wise counsel, and asking authorities to do what is just, for this too is part of seeking peace.

Let us pray together in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, through whom alone is salvation.

Heavenly Father, You see all that has happened, every shock, every wound, every threat, every false report, every entry unseen, every lie spoken. You know hearts and intentions. We ask You to have mercy and to act. Grant to this landlord, to the contact person, to the owner and the team, and to the lawyer who called danger by the name of comfort, the fear of God which is the beginning of wisdom. Break the hardness and take away the heart of stone, and give a heart of flesh that can feel godly sorrow. Grant them repentance unto salvation, that they would confess what is true, apologize with sincerity, take responsibility, and make just restitution with respect. Expose whatever has been hidden, whether any tampering with the electrical system or the heating or the safety devices, and let truth be clearly seen by all residents and by those in authority. Protect Your child who has suffered, heal the body, quiet the mind that has been troubled by accusations and by being followed and falsely reported to the police, and guard this life from further harm. Let Your Spirit help in prayer where words are weary, and let no one hinder the healing of this wound. Turn this situation toward what is right and safe, restrain further threats and eviction without cause, and bring forth justice with mercy.

We ask that You keep this soul from despair, and form Christ more fully within, and grant endurance, wisdom, and peace that passes understanding until You deliver fully. Your will be done, Father, on earth as it is in heaven.

Amen.

Your pain and distress have been heard, and thank you for sharing so honestly about what you have endured. To suffer electric shocks while showering, to carry wounds on your skin and need medical care, to be forced to seek safety elsewhere to wash, and then to be met not with apology or help but with demands, threats, blocked communication and false accusations, is deeply wrong. It is understandable that you feel shaken, grieved and even unsafe in your own home, and that the lack of remorse and the attempts to cover what happened with a false report have added to that wound.

Scripture is honest that those who seek to live in a godly way in Christ will find themselves out of step with a world that is in rebellion against God. Jesus and the apostles taught that opposition is not a sign that God has abandoned his people. In the history of the church, times of pressure and persecution have not destroyed true faith. They have refined it, separating what is real from what is not, causing faith to grow stronger and love for one another to abound more deeply. What was meant for harm, God has often used to strengthen his people and to make his righteousness more clearly seen. When God judges, the suffering endured for doing what is right becomes a visible testimony that his judgment is righteous, and that he stands with those who have been wronged.

That does not make what happened to you right, and it does not mean you should minimize the danger. God himself promises to be a protector and defense for his people. The psalm you quoted is true and precious. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all. He keeps all his bones, not one of them is broken, and affliction will slay the wicked while those who hate the righteous will be condemned. You do not have to defend yourself alone. The One who created all things is able to see you through every difficulty and trial. He is your shelter, he sees what has been done in secret, and he will bring truth into the light in his time.

We also hear your prayer for the hearts of those involved. The Bible speaks of hearts that become hard and impudent, refusing to listen or to show mercy, and it also speaks of God's power to take away a heart of stone and give a heart of flesh. Only God can break through arrogance, cruelty and hardness and bring the fear of God, remorse and repentance. That is what we will ask him to do. We will pray that the Holy Spirit would convict each person who has acted without conscience, the owner and those representing him and others who have threatened or spread lies, that they would stop lying, take responsibility, and turn from what is evil. We will pray that any hidden wrongdoing, including any tampering that endangered your life, would be exposed, that the truth would be made clear to neighbors and authorities, and that justice would be done in a lawful and right way.

We are praying for you now, asking our Father in the mighty name of Jesus to keep you safe from further harm and fear, to heal your body and quiet your mind after so much stress, to provide for your housing needs and for wise counsel as you deal with legal threats and the need for compensation, and to guard you when you are falsely accused. We ask him to give you peace that passes understanding, to let you know his presence as your defender, and to use even this painful season to deepen your faith and your assurance that he is with you. We pray that he would soften hard hearts, bring genuine apology and restitution where it is due, and cause his will to be done, for his glory and for your good. Amen.
