Needing prayer to use gifts as feel like I've been hindered by setbacks and trauma I have encountered in past. I want come out of feeling stuck and use gifts to help others and be blessing and even produce income according to Deuteronomy 8:18. Thanks for praying. God Bless.

We hear your heart’s cry, dear brother or sister in Christ, and we stand with you before the throne of grace, lifting up your desire to walk in the fullness of the gifts God has placed within you. The setbacks and trauma you’ve endured have left wounds, but we declare that the Lord is your Healer and Redeemer. He does not waste pain, He uses it to refine and reposition His children for greater purpose. The enemy may have sought to silence or sideline you, but we rebuke every spirit of discouragement, fear, and delay in Jesus’ mighty name. You were not created to live stuck; you were created to thrive, to serve, and to bear fruit that remains (John 15:16).

Scripture reminds us that God has given each of us gifts "according to the grace that was given to us" (Romans 12:6 WEB), and these gifts are not for our glory but for the edifying of the body of Christ and the advancement of His kingdom. The fact that you long to use your gifts to help others and even produce income, while honoring God, is evidence of the Holy Spirit’s work in you. Deuteronomy 8:18 indeed declares, "But you shall remember Yahweh your God, for it is he who gives you power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he swore to your fathers, as it is today." This promise is not about selfish gain but about stewarding resources for God’s purposes. We encourage you to seek the Lord for clarity on how He wants to use your gifts, not just for provision, but for His glory.

Yet we must also gently address a concern: your request did not mention the name of Jesus, and we want to remind you that it is only through Him that we have access to the Father (John 14:6). There is no other name under heaven by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). If you have not yet surrendered your life to Christ, we urge you to do so today. Confess your sins, believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, and you will be saved (Romans 10:9). If you are already a believer, we encourage you to walk closely with Him, for apart from Christ, we can do nothing (John 15:5).

Now, let us pray:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the powerful name of Jesus, lifting up this dear one who longs to walk in the gifts You’ve placed within them. Lord, You see the setbacks, the trauma, and the feelings of being stuck. We ask that You would heal every wound, break every chain, and restore what the enemy has stolen. Father, Your Word says that You have plans for us, plans for welfare, not for evil, to give us a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11). We declare that this is the season for this child of Yours to step into the fullness of their calling.

Lord, reveal any areas of unforgiveness, bitterness, or fear that may be hindering their progress. Give them the strength to release these burdens at the foot of the cross. We rebuke every spirit of delay, confusion, and doubt that has tried to keep them from moving forward. Father, ignite their gifts afresh. Show them how to use their talents to bless others and to produce income in a way that honors You. Open doors that no man can shut, and let Your favor go before them.

We pray for divine connections, mentors, collaborators, and opportunities that will help them grow and thrive. Lord, let them walk in boldness, knowing that You have not given them a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control (2 Timothy 1:7). May they be a vessel of Your love, Your healing, and Your provision to those around them.

We thank You, Father, for hearing our prayer. We trust that as they seek You first, all these things will be added unto them (Matthew 6:33). May they experience the joy of walking in their purpose and the peace that comes from knowing You are with them every step of the way. In Jesus’ mighty name we pray, Amen.

We encourage you to spend time in God’s Word, particularly in the Psalms, where you will find comfort and strength. Meditate on verses like Psalm 37:5, "Commit your way to Yahweh. Trust also in him, and he will do this," and Isaiah 43:19, "Behold, I will do a new thing. It springs out now. Don’t you know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert." The Lord is doing a new thing in your life, trust Him to lead you into it.

Consider journaling your prayers and the dreams God places in your heart. Write down the gifts you believe He has given you and ask Him to show you how to steward them well. Surround yourself with believers who will speak life into you and hold you accountable. And remember, the enemy wants to keep you isolated, but God calls you into community. You are not alone in this journey.

Lastly, if you have not already, we encourage you to seek godly counsel or mentorship from someone who can help you navigate this season. Proverbs 15:22 says, "Where there is no counsel, plans fail; but in a multitude of counselors they are established." You do not have to figure this out on your own.

We believe that God is preparing you for a season of fruitfulness and impact. Keep pressing in, keep trusting, and keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and perfecter of your faith (Hebrews 12:2). He is faithful, and He will complete the good work He has begun in you (Philippians 1:6).

It’s so disorienting when the desire to step into what we’re made for bumps up against memories or wounds that whisper, _not yet, not you._ What we noticed in your words is that the longing itself hasn’t died, you’re still reaching forward to use your gifts, to bless others, and even to earn what provides for your home. That persistence is a quiet kind of strength, and we’re grateful you wrote.

Sometimes, after trauma, the part of us that once trusted our own instincts can go quiet. We may need a few gentle wins to remember that we belong in the places God is calling us. One thing that has helped others we’ve walked alongside is starting not with the whole dream at once, but with a single, safe expression of a gift that rests right in front of them this week, something so small it barely feels like _using your gifts_ at all. A listening ear, an offer to pray with someone, a practical skill shared with a neighbor who’s behind. These aren’t a detour from the bigger purpose; they begin rebuilding the muscle of acting on what God put inside you.

When our own sense of direction gets cloudy, it also helps to sit with one or two people who know Jesus and genuinely know you, and simply ask, “What do you see God’s hand on in my life right now?” Sometimes their clarity gifts clarity back to us. We keep praying with you that the weight of the past would not define your capacity today, and that every small act of faith would open more freedom than the setbacks ever closed off.

Lord Jesus, in Your strong name we ask You to quiet the voices of all that held this person back. Loosen the grip of old wounds, and give them fresh courage to act on even the smallest nudge of Your Spirit this week. Let their gifts find their place among people who need exactly what they carry, and restore a steady confidence that You are the One who supplies both the will and the work. Amen.

The very memory of past wounds and setbacks can indeed cast a long shadow over the present, causing a soul to feel bound and incapable. Yet it is often in those very chains that the Lord prepares His instruments for noblest use. Consider this: the God who has blessed you with gifts has not forgotten the impediments you now lament. He knows the way out of the maze, and His purpose is not that you should remain in the thick darkness, but that you should come forth as a vessel meet for the Master’s use. The desire you feel to be a blessing to others is itself a token of His work within you, for by nature we would turn inward and nurse our sorrows. That holy restlessness to serve and even to prosper according to His promise is a stirring of the same Spirit who brooded over the chaos and brought forth order.

Do not despise the season of seeming barrenness. Many a servant of God has found that the years of hindrance were the very school in which he learned the lessons that afterward enabled him to help the weary. “Believe that you will become a blessing to others by means of your trials,” and though the waters seem to overflow you now, cheerfully bow your head, knowing that thus you shall be made a channel of consolation to others who pass through the same deeps. The Lord fills His servants that they may overflow; the touch of affliction hollows the vessel deeper, that it may hold more of heavenly grace. Your very longing to emerge from this stuck condition and use your gifts for others is an echo of the covenant word: “You shall be a blessing.”

The power to produce income, according to Deuteronomy 8:18, is given by the Lord, not as a wage for our toil, but as a testament of His faithful covenant. He who gives the gift of healing to a physician or the skill of trade to the artisan looks upon you with equal love. The hindrances you have met are not barriers to His arm; the Lord can open a path through the sea and make the dry land appear. The idol of your past, the trauma that whispers you are ruined for usefulness, He will cleanse you from all that filthiness. The stony heart that cannot feel the sun’s warmth will be taken away, and a heart of flesh will beat again with holy hope.

Seek then the one comprehensive blessing: communion with Christ. All other blessings, fruitful service, daily bread, a door of usefulness, are but drops from that sea. Let your daily conversation, your private prayer, your acts of kindness, even the look of your countenance, be a sacrifice of praise. Do not wait for a great signal or a sudden explosion of liberty; the true path of success is found by quiet, persistent waiting upon God and by using the smallest opening He gives you today. The jailor could have found reasons for delay, but he arose the same hour of the night and was baptized. Let not selfish considerations or the memory of past grief cause you to postpone obedience.

Be much in prayer, for those whom God uses are made a blessing by their prayers. While you cannot yet see the full harvest, sow in tears the seed of intercession for others, and you shall come again rejoicing, bringing your sheaves. The Lord will appear in the little gray light before the full sunrise. He can bring nourishment by ways you have not considered; when one means of feeding fails, others become available. Trust Him, then, to fulfill His own promise: “So will I save you, and you shall be a blessing.” May He make you a cheerful giver, a consistent witness, a prayerful pleader, so that many shall thank God for the comfort which streams through you, a vessel once marred in the hand of the Potter but now made anew to His praise. May His grace be with you all, even the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, for He is able to keep you from falling and to cause you to bring forth fruit in due season.

You feel stuck, weighed down by past wounds, as if some heavy burden presses upon your soul and hinders every step. Do not be surprised that affliction clings to you so; the bonds of nature and sorrow can indeed hold a person fast, much like the pregnant woman or the nursing mother who cannot move freely, tied as she is by the weight she carries and the tender obligations that grip her heart. Yet do not let that become an excuse for sloth. Remember that our Lord Himself was buffeted, spat upon, mocked, and pierced with sorrows beyond all telling. He endured worse than any setback you have known, and He did not waver. Why then should the scars of old trials detain you now? Shake off the dust, and press on.

The gifts you desire to use come from God, who apportions His grace to each one as He wills, for the common profit. Covet earnestly the best gifts, but know that the more excellent way is charity. Without love, even the most shining gift is nothing. Seek not merely an income or a blessing for yourself, but the good of others, and then the gift will be crowned with true fruitfulness. It is written that the Lord gives power to get wealth, yet that power is not given to be hoarded but to be stewarded in love. So if you stay bound by past trauma, you will bury your talent in the ground. Do you not see how the enemy, though struck down, rises again if we do not stand? Having done all to overcome, stand. Do your part first: stir up your will, take a small step of obedience, and God will not withhold His help. Neither can you do anything aright without His aid, nor will you obtain that aid unless you contribute your own share.

Consider how great a forgiveness, how great an adoption you have received. You were sitting in darkness, at enmity with God, and He suddenly enlightened you and counted you worthy of the Spirit. Will you remain stuck, as though grace were powerless? The gifts He has given are meant to be kindled, not smothered. Rise up, then, and put your hand to the work. Offer your gift in service to others, and let the income that follows be a secondary thing, a provision for your needs and a means to bless still more. In this way you will not only break free of that feeling of being stuck, but you will stand firm, and the adversary will not rise again. May the Spirit of all comfort strengthen you to do all, and having done all, to stand.

The longing to come out of feeling stuck and to be a blessing is itself a sign that the Spirit is at work in you. The Scriptures teach that the Holy Spirit gives gifts to each believer as he wills, so no one possesses every gift, and no one is without a place. Your past setbacks and trauma are real, but they are not the final word on what God can do through you. The same God who gives gifts also redeems broken histories. Do not let past wounds become a ceiling over your obedience.

One caution from the Scriptures is that the gifts of the Spirit are given for the good of the whole body, not mainly for personal profit. That does not mean God is unwilling to provide for you. Deuteronomy 8 reminds us that God gives the ability to produce, but the purpose is that his people would remember him and walk in his covenant. If you desire income, ask God to make you a faithful steward and a servant first. Income may be a fruit of faithful labor, but the deeper call is to love people and build up the body.

I would encourage you to stop measuring yourself by what you lack or by what trauma has taken. Wait on God and ask him to show you where he is already equipping you. Often we want a dramatic gift, but the Spirit has already given us something quieter that is needed by someone near us. Covet the best gifts, yes, but pursue love above all. Love outlasts the gifts, and love is what will make your service a true blessing.

God does not need your strength. He simply chooses to use surrendered people. So do not wait until you feel unhindered before you step out in small acts of obedience. Offer yourself and ask him to open a door. He is able to bring good out of what you thought was only loss. I am praying that you would see his kindness in the very desire you have expressed, and that he would lead you into the specific ways he wants to use you to help others.
