Hearing that your grandson is in the hospital being tested for RSV stirs a deep concern, and I am joining you in prayer right now for him and for you and your family.
Scripture shows us that healing is part of what Jesus provided through His suffering for us, and we are invited to come to Him in faith and receive what He has made available. At the same time the Bible teaches that the Holy Spirit gives gifts as He wills. Not everyone is given the same gift, and not every prayer for healing is answered in the same way or at the same moment. The Spirit is sovereign in how He works, whether through a gift of healing, a miracle, or through the wisdom and care He gives to doctors and nurses. We are told to earnestly desire what God wants to do, and to trust that His way is always governed by love, which is greater than any single gift.
That is why it is such a comfort that we do not have to find perfect words in a moment like this. The letter to the Romans says the Spirit helps us when we do not know how to pray as we should, and intercedes for us according to the will of God, even with groanings that cannot be expressed in words. When your heart is anxious and words feel short, the Spirit is carrying your cries to the Father exactly as they need to be heard. Prayer is not for show or to impress others, it is a quiet, sincere coming to God who sees in secret and who hears a humble heart that trusts Him.
I have seen how close God can draw near in a hospital room, and how He stays with families through long hours of waiting. He is there with your grandson now, and He is there with you.
Let us pray together. Father, in the name of Jesus I lift up this precious little boy to You. You know his body and You love him even more than his grandparents do. I ask You to touch him and bring healing, to clear this infection from his lungs and give him ease in breathing. Guide the hands of the medical team and give them clear answers from these tests. Fill his family with Your peace that goes beyond understanding, and let them feel Your presence and strength in this waiting time. We trust Your goodness and Your will, and we ask for Your mercy and restoration. Amen.
