Beloved of All
Your honest prayer has been heard and I thank you for sharing the burden of your heart. The weariness you feel when you say you are trying but you are tired is known to the Lord, and He does not turn away from a tired heart that calls on Him.
Scripture reminds us that when we do not even know how to pray as we should, the Spirit Himself helps our weakness and intercedes for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words. God understands the sighs behind your words for each grandchild and child and nephew you named. You do not have to find perfect language. He hears the love and concern underneath.
Jesus taught that a father does not give his son a stone when he asks for bread, or a serpent when he asks for an egg. How much more will your heavenly Father give what is good to those who ask Him. When you ask for protection, for safe travel and a safe return, for keeping your grandchildren out of trouble, for freedom from drugs and for a life put back together, you are asking according to His good and caring heart. He is a Father who gives good gifts, not harm.
Part of that good gift is not only keeping from danger but making new. God has set apart His people for His own use, to belong to Him and live for Him. That is His desire for your grandson who is struggling with smoking and with getting his life on a steady path. The world offers wisdom that does not know God and promises fun through things that only leave a person empty, but God offers a life that is rich and full in Christ, a life where a person no longer lives for himself but for Him who died and rose again. Pray that your grandson will see that greater love, that Christ died for him, and that through that sacrifice he can pass from death to life and be cleansed from the old ways as the Passover Lamb takes away sin. Real change comes not by willpower alone but by belonging wholly to Jesus.
You also carry many others in prayer, and that reflects the way God made us to care not only for ourselves but for the whole family of faith. We need each other. When we stand together and pray for one another, lift one another and encourage one another, there is strength and protection that an isolated person does not have. You are not meant to carry this alone. Keep letting others in the body of Christ stand with you, and keep bringing these names before the Lord together. The love that seeks the good of others is what fulfills what God asks of us.
God also promises rest to the weary. He does not always speak in fire or earthquake or rushing wind, but in a still small voice to the heart that waits on Him. In your tiredness, ask Him for that rest and listen for His gentle leading day by day. He sees that you have only one life to live for Him, and every prayer you pray for your family is part of what lasts for eternity.
So we join you now in prayer. Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, we ask You to place Your hand of protection around each of these grandchildren and children and this nephew. Keep the one who is traveling safe on the way and bring him home safely. Keep the others from harm and from the traps of the enemy. Bring deliverance to the one bound by drugs, break that chain, and set his feet on a new path where he lives for You. Guard the whole family, draw each heart to know Jesus as Savior, and give this faithful grandmother renewed strength and peace as she trusts You. Amen.
