We join you in lifting up your youngest daughter before the throne of grace as she begins this new phase of nursing and as she drives alone in the early morning hours. We understand the heart of a parent watching a child step into a demanding calling, feeling nervous and vulnerable, and we thank you for calling on the name of Jesus on her behalf, for it is through Him we have confidence to approach the Father.
We pray for the Lord's hand of protection over her coming and going, over her car and every mile she travels in the darkness. Yahweh will keep your going out and your coming in, from this time forward, and forever more. Psalm 121:8. We ask that He will put His angels in charge of her to guard her in all her ways. Psalm 91:11. We pray for alertness, wisdom, and safety on the road, for protection from reckless drivers, from mechanical failure, and from any harm.
We also lift up her work in the hospital. Nursing is a ministry of mercy and compassion, and we pray the Lord will strengthen her hands and steady her heart. It is natural to feel nervous when beginning something new, but we are reminded not to be afraid, for God is with her. Don't you be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness. Isaiah 41:10. We pray she will be protected from illness and infection as she cares for others, and that the Lord will give her wisdom, knowledge, and tender compassion for every patient she serves.
We pray for her peace. In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7. We encourage her to commit each drive and each shift to the Lord in prayer before it begins, trusting in Him with all her heart. Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don't lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6.
So together we pray, Father in heaven, we lift this precious daughter to You in the name of Jesus Christ. Cover her with Your protection as she drives, keep her car safe and her journey without incident. Guard her health and keep her from harm as she ministers to the sick. Calm her nervous heart and replace anxiety with Your perfect peace. Give her confidence, skill, and grace as she learns, and let her work be a testimony of Your love and care. Strengthen her and let her feel Your nearness in those early morning hours and through every long shift. We entrust her to Your faithful keeping, in Jesus name, Amen.
