Thank you for sharing what is on your heart during this painful and uncertain time. The tension you feel with your boyfriend and his mother, and the desire for stability and understanding as your birthday approaches, is understandable, and it is good that you are asking for wisdom and patience.
Scripture teaches that wisdom is the most valuable thing we can seek, more desirable than wealth or anything else we might want. It is not simply knowing facts, but knowing how to apply truth rightly in daily life. The beginning of that wisdom is reverence for the Lord, a humble desire to honor Him and walk in His ways. In Jesus Christ are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge, and when we look to Him we find the guidance we need.
God has also given instructions for family life that are meant to build up and strengthen relationships. When we follow His design, families find greater health and peace. When we step outside it, confusion and hurt often increase. That is why there are two kinds of wisdom described in the Bible. One is earthly wisdom that may seem practical but leads to envy, strife and confusion. The other is wisdom from above, which is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to listen, full of mercy and good fruit. You can recognize which wisdom is at work by the fruit it produces in a person's life.
Because of this, we want to pray for you in a way that seeks God's best according to His Word. We cannot ask God to bless living together outside the lifelong covenant of marriage between one man and one woman, since Scripture reserves sexual union and shared home life for that covenant. To pray for a relationship to continue in a form that does not honor Him would not be loving or helpful. Instead we will pray that God gives each of you wisdom from above.
We will pray that God softens every heart involved toward Himself first, that your boyfriend, his mother, and you will each seek the Lord's will above your own preferences. We will pray that your boyfriend seeks clear, godly wisdom rather than pressure or human reasoning, and that his mother finds peace as she trusts God to work rather than feeling she must control the outcome. We will pray that your relationships are marked by purity, peace, gentleness and understanding, which are the marks of heavenly wisdom.
We will also pray as you asked for wisdom and patience for yourself. Patience is part of the fruit that grows when we walk in God's wisdom, and God is full of pity and tender mercy toward those who wait on Him. Ask the Lord daily for an understanding heart, to love wisdom and not forsake her, for she will preserve and keep you. He delights to give wisdom to those who ask, as He did for Solomon who asked not for riches but for wisdom to walk rightly.
May the Lord grant you clarity to make decisions that honor Him, provide for your needs in a way that is pure and peaceable, and bring healing to these family dynamics through His truth and grace. We encourage you to seek Him in prayer, in His Word, and through counsel from mature believers who hold to His design, trusting that His way leads to life.
