Urgent Prayers for my ###

Your urgent request for your mother has been received and we are joining you in prayer for her before the Lord.

We pray that God in His mercy would touch her body and bring healing and keep her from harm. In the Gospels we see that when Jesus touched those who were sick with fever, He not only quenched the fever but gave back perfect health at once, showing His power as the true physician who can do what no human art can do. We ask Him to show that same mercy and power to your mother, to strengthen her in her advancing years, to ease what afflicts her, and to grant her renewed health according to His will.

Scripture also teaches us to give special honor to our mothers, as Christ Himself entrusted His own mother to the care of His disciple. Your love and concern for your mother reflects that honor, and God sees your faithfulness in lifting her up to Him.

We pray that the Lord will watch over her, guard her from harm, give wisdom to any who care for her, and give you peace as you trust Him. We ask all this in the name of Jesus Christ alone, through whom we have access to the Father and in whom alone is salvation. Amen.

Your love and concern for your mother is beautiful and it honors God. Scripture places great weight on honoring father and mother, and that honor was understood to mean caring for them practically when they grow older and can no longer care for themselves as they once did. Your desire to see her cared for, prayed for, and protected is a faithful expression of that command.

Jesus showed again and again that He cares about the sickness of those we love. In the Gospels we see Him heal a man with leprosy, heal the servant of a centurion with only a word, and enter a home where the mother of Peter's wife lay sick with a fever and bring healing to her. In the evening many who were sick and afflicted were brought to Him and He healed them. Matthew connects this to what Isaiah foretold, that the Messiah Himself would bear our infirmities and carry our sicknesses. He has power in the physical realm over disease, and power in the spiritual realm, and He still has that power today.

There is much about healing we do not fully understand. We do not always know why some are healed instantly and others gradually, or why some receive a touch that is felt in a moment while others experience healing slowly through the natural processes God Himself created in the body. Any true healing is from God, whether it comes in an instant by His touch or gradually through the means He has built into our bodies. What we do know is that God is able and that He invites us to come to Him in faith. Like the desperate mother in the Gospels who would not stop coming to Jesus for her daughter until she received His help, you can keep bringing your mother to Him in prayer and not give up. At times faith is released through a simple point of contact, a prayer, a touch, a cry to Jesus, but the power is always His, not in any outward show. God is not found in hype or pretense, but in sincere trust in His Son.

You also asked for His protection to keep her out of harm's way. Scripture exhorts us to keep ourselves in the love of God. We cannot walk away from Him and expect His protection while living outside His care, but when we abide in Him we can trust His keeping power. To pray for protection is to ask Him to cover her life as she continues to walk with Him, and to commit her daily into His hands.

We join you in prayer now. Father, in the name of Jesus we lift this dear mother to You. You see her age and her weakness and that she is not feeling well. Touch her body, we ask, and bring healing according to Your will and mercy. Ease her discomfort, restore her strength, and give wisdom to those who care for her. Keep her from harm and let her know Your presence and peace each day. Give her child comfort and faith as they continue to honor her and trust You for her. We ask this in Jesus name, amen.
