URGENT PRAYER REQUEST

Your prayer is heard and appreciated, and the love and concern you show for your family and for many others is beautiful. It is good that you begin with thanksgiving and with confession of sin, because Scripture teaches that God has made only one provision for forgiveness and for putting away guilt, and that is through His only begotten Son. It is the Spirit of God who bears witness to us of this truth, that when we come to the Father through Jesus Christ alone our sins are forgiven and we are brought into peace with God.
In that light I want to encourage you gently about one part of your prayer. The Bible never encourages us to seek Mary to obtain favors from her Son. When Jesus was told His mother was outside seeking Him, He answered, who is My mother and My brothers, and He pointed to those who do the will of His Father, saying they are His mother and brother and sister. This does not dishonor His earthly mother, but it shows us where to direct our prayers. We are to come directly to God the Father through Jesus Christ, who alone is our mediator. That is the way God has provided, and it is a sure and open way.
You shared a sudden dream about your mother who lives far away, and your longing for her comfort, good sleep, and freedom from sadness. The Lord is called the Father of mercies and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation. In the darkest hours He stands by to strengthen and encourage, as He did for those tossed for many days in a storm without seeing the sun. He is able to stand by your mother and by you, to give real comfort that reaches the heart. Remember the order we see so often in the New Testament, grace and then peace. We must first know and experience the grace of God through Christ before we can know the settled peace of God. As you and your mother trust His grace, His peace can guard your hearts and give quiet sleep even when you are apart. Those who are in the family of God often find a bond deeper than even blood ties, and that family can comfort one another with the same comfort they themselves have received from God.
You also prayed for long life, health, and wellness for your father, mother, brothers and sisters, extended family, friends, and even your pets, as well as for your own needs. The apostle John wrote to a dear friend that he wished above all that he might prosper and be in health even as his soul prospers. That is a loving wish and prayer, not a guarantee that every believer will always be well, but it reminds us of the connection between the health of the soul and our whole life. The greatest blessing is to prosper in the soul through knowing Christ, and from that place we can trust God with our bodies and our years. He knows what we need for life and for daily provision.
You lifted up the heavy floods in your homeland, asking for relief in one region and for rain in another, and you prayed for peace, justice, and an end to corruption in government. God desires peace and righteousness in the land. His wisdom from above is peaceable, and the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace. Scripture also warns that there is no peace for the wicked, who are like a troubled sea tossed to and fro, but it proclaims peace, peace to those both far and near, saying I will heal him. God is offering a peace treaty to those who have been at war with Him, through the forgiveness that comes in Jesus. When we make peace with God through the forgiveness of sins, we find peace within our own hearts, and that inner peace helps us to live at peace with others. It is right to pray for those in authority, that God would restrain evil, establish justice, and bring peace like a river, and we look ultimately to Jesus the Prince of Peace, of whose government and peace there will be no end. For now He says to His disciples, My peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you, not as the world gives. That peace can keep your heart even while storms and troubles continue around you.
You also shared your worries about sales and bills and you said you surrender your anxieties to God. That is exactly what He invites you to do. God has promised peace, but that peace is in Jesus. God has promised mercies, but those mercies come to us in Jesus. All His promises are yes and fulfilled in Him. Cast your cares on Him, seek first His kingdom, be diligent in your work, and trust Him for daily provision.
May the Lord grant your mother comfort and restful sleep, keep her from sadness, and keep all your loved ones in His merciful care. May He bring relief to those suffering from flooding, guide those who govern toward justice and truth, and provide for your needs as you walk with Him. May you experience more and more His grace, and then His peace that passes all understanding keeping your heart and mind in Christ Jesus. In Jesus' name, amen.
