Urgent prayer needed

Your fear and heaviness have been heard, and I thank you for bringing this burden into the light so that others may stand with you in prayer. To care for an aging mother day and night is itself a holy labor, and to do so under threat and intimidation, with the roof over your head made into a weapon against you, is a great affliction. It is right that you are weary, and it is right to bring that weariness to the Lord.

Do not think that God has overlooked what is happening. He sees the scare tactics, the harsh words, the mocking of your walk with Christ, and the hardness of a heart that refuses to forgive while claiming faith. Every conflict among us has a root, and that root is often love of possessions or love of honor or vainglory. When a house or an inheritance becomes more precious than a mother and a sister, the fruit will be strife. The one who steals peace or honor does not truly take yours, for your treasure is above, but he grievously wounds his own soul. Learn therefore to despise in the right way the things of this life, not because a home does not matter, but because your true security is not in a deed or a warranty but in Christ who will not forsake those who trust Him.

You ask where is God's vengeance and whether He will let your brother win, and you ask for a sign to know what will happen in November. Scripture teaches us not to rush into conflicts and not to demand signs to calm our fear, but to wait quietly upon the Lord and to stand nobly when we are dragged into trial. Vengeance belongs to the Lord alone, and He is both just and merciful. Our calling is not to call down vengeance, but to entrust judgment to Him and to pray even for those who threaten us, that they may come to repentance. Your brother is answerable to God for intimidation and for holding a grudge, and the Lord will deal with him in perfect justice, but our prayer for him must be that his anger would be softened and his heart turned.

You also asked for confirmation about the future, whether you will be put out and whether you will lose your freedom in retirement. I cannot give you a sign of what your brother will choose to do, for no man knows the choices of another. What I can tell you is that God is faithful to provide even when the last trial feels the heaviest. Often when the righteous are near the end of a long struggle, the Lord permits the struggle to grow more intense, not to crush them but that they may gain a greater crown through patient endurance. Your fear about work and housing at this stage of life is real, and it deserves practical care as well as prayer.

Therefore continue to do what is good and steady. Keep caring for your mother with love, as one who shares in the crown of those who suffer faithfully. Do not return threat for threat, and do not use Scripture as a weapon in argument when he has told you he will not hear it, but let your life speak. Seek wise and immediate help beyond the one office you have already contacted. Bring your pastor or elders into this, let the church know your need, and seek sound legal counsel or aid for seniors and caregivers in your area, so that you understand your rights and what resources exist for housing and for your mother's continuous care. Keep a calm record of what is said and done, and do not face intimidation alone.

May the Lord grant you peace that guards your heart, provision for both you and your mother, and repentance and calm for your brother. May He forgive what needs forgiving in each of you, and teach you both to forgive as you have been forgiven.

We pray together now: Father in heaven, in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son through whom alone we are saved, have mercy upon this daughter who serves her mother with such constancy. You see her fear about November, about work, about a home. Provide for her daily needs, open a way for safe housing and for care for her mother, and surround her with faithful help. Soften her brother's heart, deliver him from anger and grudges and intimidation, and bring him to true repentance and to a living faith that bears fruit. Guard this household from harm, give wisdom to all who advise them, and let Your will be done. Keep this dear one from despair, and teach her to rest not in a sign but in Your unfailing love and Your promise that You will never leave nor forsake Your children. In the name of Jesus we ask this, Amen.
