We rejoice with you in this good news and thank God together for His faithful protection over you and your mother. We see His hand in providing clarity through the Office of Aging assessment and in upholding the letter of understanding that gives your mother life use of the home. God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble Psalm 46:1, and we praise Him that He has validated the truth and brought relief after so much distress and emotional abuse. We also thank Him for your testimony that you and your mother are believers totally dependent on the Lord, for He is faithful, who will establish you and guard you from the evil one 2 Thessalonians 3:3.
We want to gently encourage you about the name by which we come to the Father. You speak of the Lord and of being believers, and we rejoice in that dependence, and we want to make clear together that it is only through Jesus Christ that we have access to God and salvation. Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6. There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. So we come boldly in the name of Jesus, trusting that His blood covers us, His intercession sustains us, and His name gives us confidence that our prayers are heard.
We also want to address with loving truth what you have endured from your sibling who claims to be a Christian while engaging in manipulation, harassment, mocking, judging and control. Scripture warns that not everyone who says Lord, Lord will enter the Kingdom but the one who does the will of the Father Matthew 7:21, and that out of the same mouth should not come blessing and cursing James 3:10. If anyone says, I love God, and hates his brother, he is a liar 1 John 4:20. Such behavior does not reflect Christ, and we rebuke that pattern of emotional abuse and bullying while praying that this sibling will be brought to genuine conviction and repentance. We are called to honor our father and mother Exodus 20:12, not to exploit or oppress them, and the Lord sees and weighs all actions.
We understand your request for the Lord's justice to be served if it is His will, and we affirm that justice belongs to Him. Don't seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God's wrath. For it is written, Vengeance belongs to me, I will repay, says the Lord Romans 12:19. We release our desire for retaliation into His righteous hands, trusting that He loves justice Psalm 37:28 and will act in His perfect timing and way. At the same time we are commanded to love our enemies, bless those who curse us, do good to those who hate us, and pray for those who mistreat us and persecute us Matthew 5:44, and to be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave us Ephesians 4:32. We pray for grace to hold both truths together, desiring justice and also desiring repentance and restoration where possible.
We hear how a lifetime of being bullied has made it hard to stand up and has left you afraid that something terrible will happen. We want to encourage you that God did not give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control 2 Timothy 1:7. Don't be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness Isaiah 41:10. The Lord is our light and our salvation, whom shall we fear Psalm 27:1. We pray that fear will be replaced with holy courage and peace, and that you will continue to walk in wisdom by keeping good boundaries, keeping records, staying connected to the Office of Aging and other trusted help, and seeking godly counsel as you protect your mother and your home.
We now pray together.
Father, we thank You in the name of Jesus for Your mercy and protection over our dear sister and her mother. We thank You for this provision and for the validation that their voices have been heard. We ask You to continue to be a wall of protection around them, to guard their home, their hearts, and their peace. We ask You to heal the wounds of past bullying and present harassment, for You are close to the brokenhearted and save those who are crushed in spirit Psalm 34:18. We ask You to replace fear with faith, anxiety with Your perfect peace that passes understanding, and weakness with Your strength. Grant wisdom for every next step, guidance in every decision, and discernment to recognize manipulation and respond with truth and grace. We place justice in Your hands and ask that Your righteous will be done, that wrong would be restrained, that truth would prevail, and that our sibling who claims Your name would be convicted, humbled, and led to repentance and to walk in true love and humility. Help us to forgive as You have forgiven us, while not enabling further harm, and help us to love without compromising truth. Establish this home in safety, establish this mother and daughter in Your joy, and let Your goodness be seen in their lives. We ask all this in the mighty and saving name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and our only way to You, amen.
