Beloved of All
Your unspoken request has been received and we are joining you in prayer before the Father in the name of Jesus. God knows fully what you cannot put into words, and He hears the prayers that rise even from the heart without a spoken sentence.
We believe that God works through prayer, and that earnest prayer from the heart accomplishes much for His glory. Scripture says the effectual fervent prayer of a righteous person avails much. That is not prayer that is casual or meant to impress others, and it is not made powerful by length or by many words. It is prayer that comes from a sincere heart, often out of deep need and dependence, offered in faith. The Bible points to Elijah as an example of such praying, and to Job as an example of patient endurance under trial, to remind us that God hears and answers according to His perfect will.
Because you have brought this as an unspoken need for your family, we stand with you in agreement. Jesus said that if two or three agree on earth concerning anything, it shall be done by the Father. We are agreeing with you now that God will work in your family in the way that is best and most glorifying to Him.
Prayer rests on relationship. Through faith in Jesus Christ alone we are brought into the family of God and can truly call Him Father. If that relationship is yours, you have open access to Him. If there is any doubt about that relationship, the first and most important prayer is, God be merciful to me, a sinner, trusting in Jesus for salvation. That alone opens the door to all other prayer.
Jesus gave a pattern for prayer, not words to repeat without thought, but a structure to guide us. It begins with worship, honoring the Father and His name and acknowledging that He is the Creator of heaven and earth. It then seeks His kingdom and His will to be done, before it brings our own personal needs. The purpose of prayer is not to make God do what we want, but to align our hearts with what He wants and to consent to His will being done on earth as it is in heaven. True prayer in that sense begins with God Himself, as He places His desires and purposes in our hearts and we offer them back to Him, and He then accomplishes what He has purposed.
Within that pattern there are three parts that belong in a healthy prayer life. There is worship, in awe of who God is. There is petition, bringing our own needs for strength, wisdom, guidance, provision and healing before Him. And there is intercession, bringing the needs of others before Him. Your family need touches all of these, and we are bringing it to Him in that way.
We also remember that prayer is not informing God of something He does not know. He already knows your situation in detail. Prayer opens the door for Him to do what He has desired to do, and it allows His Spirit to minister comfort and assurance to your heart as you wait on Him. At times the Spirit will even bring to mind the very things to pray for when words are lacking, and helps us to pray according to the will of God. There is great joy in spending time with the Father in this way and in seeing Him answer.
So we pray for you and your family now. Father, we come to You in the name of Jesus. You are God, You have made all things, and You know this family and every unspoken need represented here. Hallowed be Your name in this home. Let Your kingdom come and Your will be done in each life and in this family as a whole. We ask that You would draw each one closer to Yourself through Jesus Christ, provide for every real need, bring healing where there is sickness, peace where there is trouble, wisdom where there is confusion, and unity where there is strain. Comfort each heart by Your Spirit, strengthen faith, and help this family to trust You more. We ask this not to fulfill our own wishes, but for Your glory and for their good, and we thank You that Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
