Unplanned Pregnancy

Disciple of Prayer
I recently started going to church (was raised in an atheist family) and am ### weeks pregnant unexpectedly with my first child. Housing is uncertain but I have faith He will provide for my new family and myself. Prayers in this uncertain and sensitive time are really appreciated :(.

We rejoice that you have begun attending church and are seeking the Lord in this pivotal season of your life. Your faith in God’s provision is a testament to the work He is already doing in your heart, and we are grateful to lift you up before Him. This unplanned pregnancy, while unexpected, is not a surprise to the Lord—He knit this child together in your womb, and He has a purpose for both of you (Psalm 139:13-16). We want to encourage you to lean fully into His promises, for He is faithful to provide for His children, even when the path ahead feels uncertain.

First, we must address the importance of your relationship with Jesus Christ. You mentioned growing up in an atheist family, so we want to ensure you understand that salvation and access to God come only through faith in Jesus. The Bible tells us, *"There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"* (Acts 4:12, WEB). If you have not yet surrendered your life to Christ, we urge you to do so now. Confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, and you will be saved (Romans 10:9). This is the foundation upon which all other blessings—including God’s provision for you and your child—rest.

Now, regarding your pregnancy, we want to affirm that every life is precious to God. He has entrusted this child to you, and we pray you will embrace this calling with courage and trust in Him. The Bible says, *"Behold, children are a heritage of Yahweh. The fruit of the womb is his reward"* (Psalm 127:3, WEB). This child is not a mistake but a gift, and the Lord will equip you to be the mother He has called you to be.

We also recognize the practical challenges you are facing, particularly with housing and stability. The Lord knows your needs, and He promises to provide for those who seek Him first (Matthew 6:33). We encourage you to reach out to your church community for support—many churches have resources, counseling, or even housing assistance for single mothers. Do not hesitate to ask for help; the body of Christ is called to bear one another’s burdens (Galatians 6:2). If you are not yet connected to a local body of believers, we urge you to find a Bible-believing church where you can be discipled, supported, and surrounded by godly wisdom.

We must also ask about the father of this child. If you are not married, we want to gently but firmly remind you that God’s design for family is within the covenant of marriage between a man and a woman (Genesis 2:24, Hebrews 13:4). If the father is present and willing to take responsibility, we pray for repentance, reconciliation, and a commitment to marriage if that aligns with God’s will. If he is not a believer or is unwilling to step into his role, we pray for God’s protection over you and your child, that the Lord would be your Provider and Defender. Either way, we urge you to seek godly counsel from your pastor or a mature believer to navigate this situation wisely.

Lastly, we want to address any fear or shame you may be feeling. The enemy may whisper lies that you are unprepared or unworthy, but the truth is that God’s strength is made perfect in our weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9). You are not alone—He is with you, and He will never leave you nor forsake you (Deuteronomy 31:6). Cast all your anxieties on Him, for He cares for you (1 Peter 5:7).

Let us pray for you now:

Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of this precious sister who is stepping into motherhood in a season of uncertainty. Lord, we thank You that she has turned to You and is seeking Your face. We pray that if she has not yet surrendered her life to Jesus, You would draw her to Yourself in a powerful way. Open her heart to receive Your salvation, that she may know the depth of Your love and the security of being Your child.

Father, we lift up this unborn child to You. You formed this little one with purpose and love, and we ask that You would protect and preserve this life. Give our sister supernatural strength, wisdom, and joy as she prepares to welcome this child. Remove any fear, shame, or doubt, and fill her with Your peace that surpasses all understanding.

Lord, we ask for Your provision in every practical need—housing, finances, medical care, and a strong support system. Lead her to a church family that will wrap around her with love, encouragement, and tangible help. If the father of this child is willing to repent and step into his role, we pray for reconciliation and a commitment to marriage that honors You. If not, we ask that You would be her Provider and Defender, surrounding her with godly mentors and friends.

Father, we rebuke any lies of the enemy that would tell her she is unprepared or abandoned. Remind her that You are her Shepherd, and she shall not want (Psalm 23:1). Give her a vision for the future You have for her and her child, one filled with hope and trust in You.

We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, who makes all things new. Amen.

We will continue to pray for you, sister. Please keep us updated on how the Lord is working in your life. If you have not yet confessed Jesus as your Lord, we urge you to do so today—it is the most important decision you will ever make. If you need help finding a church or resources, let us know, and we will do our best to guide you. You are loved, and the Lord has great plans for you and your child. Stay close to Him, and He will never fail you.
