Unpaid police penalty by the former landlord

Kensem

Beloved of All
Please pray for the former landlord in Jesus' name so that he feels remorse and resolves the issue with the police, both here and abroad, where the penalty is overdue/unpaid.

We join with you in bringing this matter before the Lord in Jesus' name, and we are grateful you have sought prayer in His name, for it is only through Him we have access to the Father. As it is written, There is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus 1 Timothy 2:5 and There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12.

We understand your burden concerning your former landlord and this unpaid police penalty that remains overdue both here and abroad. It is right to desire justice and responsibility rather than revenge, and we pray with you that God would work in his heart to bring conviction and repentance.

Scripture teaches us that God has established governing authorities for order and justice, and we are to respect them. Let every soul be in subjection to the higher authorities, for there is no authority except from God, and those who exist are ordained by God Romans 13:1. For rulers are not a terror to the good work, but to the evil Romans 13:3 and he is a servant of God to you for good. But if you do that which is evil, be afraid, for he doesn’t bear the sword in vain Romans 13:4. We are also taught to Give therefore to everyone what you owe: taxes to whom taxes are due; customs to whom customs; respect to whom respect; honor to whom honor Romans 13:7. An unpaid penalty to the police is a debt to the authority that should be settled, and we pray your former landlord will understand the seriousness of leaving it unresolved.

We also pray that his remorse would be godly sorrow that leads to action. For godly sorrow produces repentance to salvation, which brings no regret 2 Corinthians 7:10. He who conceals his sins doesn’t prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them finds mercy Proverbs 28:13. Our desire is not simply that he feels bad, but that he turns from neglect and does what is right and makes restitution where it is needed. As the Lord says, Agree with your adversary quickly while you are with him on the way Matthew 5:25, which reminds us to settle matters quickly and honestly before they bring greater consequences.

We lift this before the Father together. Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ and ask for Your mercy and Your justice to be at work in the heart of this former landlord. You see this unpaid penalty and You know the details both here and abroad. We ask that You convict his heart and grant him godly remorse for leaving this obligation unpaid. Lead him to take responsibility, to humble himself before the authorities, and to resolve this matter fully and honestly. Prevent further harm or legal trouble from following him or affecting others, and let him walk in integrity. We also pray for peace for the one who submitted this request, that they would not harbor bitterness but would trust You, for it is written Do not seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God’s wrath. For it is written, Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord Romans 12:19. Help them to rest in Your justice and to continue to pray with love even for those who have done wrong. Guide the police and all authorities involved with wisdom and fairness. We ask all this according to Your will in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, amen.

We encourage you to continue to pray for him with a heart of mercy, desiring his repentance as God desires all to come to repentance, and to trust that the Lord sees and will deal justly in His perfect timing.

We hear how weighing this has been, watching an overdue penalty sit unresolved and wondering if the former landlord will ever take responsibility with the police here and abroad. It is understandable to want to see a clear conscience and a right step taken.

We cannot create remorse in someone else, but we can bring him before the Lord and trust God to work on his heart while also trusting the proper authorities to handle what is theirs to handle. Releasing the need to monitor whether he has paid or felt enough can also protect your own peace as you continue to pray for him.

One practical step that often helps in landlord matters like this is to keep your own record clear. If you have not already, keep a simple file with your lease end date, move-out documentation, and any correspondence showing you no longer live there. If any notice comes to you by mistake, you can calmly show that file to the local police on their non-emergency line or to a local legal aid office so they can confirm you are not the responsible party.

We are praying with you about this.

Father, we lift this former landlord to You and ask that You stir his conscience and lead him to do what is right and resolve what is owed to the authorities. Give him willingness to act honestly and promptly. And give our friend peace as he waits, guarding him from worry and helping him trust You with the outcome. In Jesus' name, amen.

We have heard your request concerning the unpaid police penalty which lies upon your former landlord, both here and abroad, and we join you in bringing it before the Lord in the name of Jesus Christ.

We pray that God, who alone can change the heart, would work in him not a mere carnal repentance born of fear of judgment or dread of the penalty, but that holy and healthy repentance which is wrought by the Holy Spirit in the renewed heart. Such true repentance gives God glory, for it confesses sin honestly before Him, it looks to Christ alone for mercy, and it brings forth works meet for repentance. We ask that the Lord would grant him a godly sorrow for what is wrong, a conscience tender before God and before man, and a practical purpose to do what is just and to resolve what is overdue, that he may act honestly toward the authorities under which God has placed us.

We remember also that there is forgiveness with God through Jesus Christ His Son, who bore the punishment that sinners deserved, so that sinners who turn to Him in faith may know complete and eternal forgiveness. There is no other name by which we are saved, and it is to Christ we must look for pardon and for power to walk in a new way. We pray that this man may be led to see his need of that forgiveness and to seek it where alone it is found.

We ask the Lord to give you peace as you leave this matter in His hands, to keep you from bitterness, and to help you to rest in His justice and mercy. May the Lord in His wisdom move this matter to a right and lawful conclusion, and may His will be done.

We offer this prayer trusting in the finished work of Christ, in whom alone is our hope. Amen.
