Father, You will that none would perish but all come to repentance, 2 Pet 3:9. Surely You take no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but rather they turn from their ways and live, Ezek 33:11... You desire all people to be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth, 1 Tim 2:4. Eternal fire was prepared for the devil and his angels, Matt 25:41, not humans that were originally made to image God, Gen 1:27.

Let us be merciful, that we may receive mercy, Matt 5:7... We ask for grace to add fasting, Mk 4:29, which the early church said, "fasting and giving lends wings to prayer," (Tertullian, 155AD - 240AD). Help the one compassionate, honest and understanding family member learn to fear God all the day long, Prov 23:17, get saved herself, and witness to truth, 1 Tim 4:16. Forgive this one who has broken covenantal faith and vows with no remorse or repentance, for leading men into adultery and thus destruction, Prov 6:32, for neglecting pastoral counsel, texts and phone calls for months. If a king's heart is as channels of water in Your hand, Prov 21:1, how much more an individual that has chosen to feed on raisin cakes and needs repentance from serious sins, which Hosea's "deal with her" was based on repentance, see Hos 3:1-5. As this one is unwilling to reconcile, wants divorce, says we are done and though I've reached out, prayed and fasted, is still as unwilling to return a text, much less return to me as most of Jerusalem was unwilling to gather under the wings of God Almighty or come to Jesus, over which He publicly wept, they having stoned those sent to rescue them, Matt 23:37... Thankfully she is in a country that is impossible to get a divorce, as it is written in 1 Corinthians 7:10, "To the married I give this command (not I, but The Lord): A wife must not separate from her husband. 11 But if she does, she must remain unmarried or else be reconciled to her husband. And a husband must not divorce his wife." I know I have the adultery clause from Jesus which allows me to divorce and remarry, Matt 5:32, Matt 19:9, however only in The Lord, 1 Cor 7:39, see being equally yoked, 2 Cor 6:14-15, Old Testament precedent, Gen 24:3-4. And is she is unsaved, which everything indicates, there is the desertion by an unbelieving spouse clause, 1 Cor 7:15, where traditional, modern and ancient Jewish theology all allow for remarriage as if the unbelieving spouse or the adulteress were "dead." However I am thinking and asking for repentance and salvation here, 2 Peter 3:9, 1 tim 2:1-4, and ask that THAT may yield a remarkable testimony of God's saving grace, 1 Tim 1:15-16, and exemplify Christ and The Church, Eph 5:32-33. So I again ask for wisdom, Prov 2:1-5, Col 1:9-10, James 1:5, and for love to abound in knowledge and discernment to choose the highest, Phil 1:9-11, yet asking for it loosely as CHRIST in the Garden of Gethsemane, Matt 26:39, Mk 14:36, Luke 22:42.

Soften her heart and protect her (also the youth, and all of us that actually ask God to save her so the little ones do not stumble, Mt 18:16, Mk 9:42, Lk 17:2), keep her from temptation and evil, Matt 6:13. Let LIGHT SHINE that penetrates darkness, Jn 1:5, 1 Jn 1:5, 2 Cor 4:4, 2 Cor 4:6, to open their eyes, turning this one from the power of darkness to light, and power of satan to God, that they may partake of the inheritance along with all who are sanctified by faith in Jesus Christ, Acts 26:18, 1 Cor 1:30. Help her, them (and all of us) use our "Bible Apps" and understand what it says enough to let the Words You have caused to live inside become flesh in real life, Jn 1:12, James 1:22-23. Let "Jesus Christ's love be publicly portrayed," Gal 3:1, and model it to each and every family member, those most near and dear and beyond and blinded -- let us be living epistles known and read by all, 2 Cor 3:2. All Scripture is inspired by God Almighty and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right," 2 Tim 3:15-16. "Do not take us out of the world, but keep us from the evil one," John 17:15. "Sanctify us by the truth; Your word is truth," John 17:17. Thank you in The Name of Jesus, The One Mediator between God and Man, 1 Tim 2:5, in Jesus' Name.

"I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will remove your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh," Ezek 36:26.
“But this is the covenant I'll make... I'll put My law in their minds and write it on their hearts. I'll be their God; they'll be My people," Jer 31:33.
Jesus replied, “Truly, truly, I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless one is born again," Jn 3:3, "Do not be amazed that I said, ‘You must be born again,'" John 3:7.

We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting up this deeply painful situation before our Heavenly Father. The brokenness of covenantal unfaithfulness and the hardness of heart in this marriage weighs heavily upon us, for we know how God hates divorce (Malachi 2:16) and how seriously He takes the marriage vow made before Him.

First, we must address the grievous sin of adultery that has been committed. The Scriptures are clear: "Whoever commits adultery with a woman lacks understanding; he who does it destroys his own soul" (Proverbs 6:32). This is not merely a personal failing but a violation of God's holy covenant. We must rebuke this sin in Jesus' name, for it has brought destruction to what God joined together (Matthew 19:6). The lack of remorse and repentance is particularly troubling, for "godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation" (2 Corinthians 7:10).

Yet even in this darkness, we cling to the promise that "with God all things are possible" (Matthew 19:26). We cry out for a miracle of repentance and restoration, remembering that our God is the one who "gives life to the dead and calls those things which do not exist as though they did" (Romans 4:17). We pray specifically for the heart of stone to be replaced with a heart of flesh (Ezekiel 36:26), for eyes to be opened to see the spiritual reality of what is happening.

We stand on the truth that "if we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9). We pray this promise would break through the hardness, that the one who has broken covenant would come to true repentance - not just sorrow for consequences, but a turning away from sin and toward God.

The situation regarding divorce is complex, but we must remember that Jesus gave only two exceptions: sexual immorality (Matthew 19:9) and abandonment by an unbeliever (1 Corinthians 7:15). However, we must not rush to these as first options, for our God is in the business of restoration. We pray for wisdom to know how to proceed, whether to wait in hope or to accept what cannot be changed.

We are particularly concerned about the spiritual condition of the one who has turned away. The lack of response to pastoral counsel and attempts at communication is alarming. We pray that "the god of this world" who has blinded minds (2 Corinthians 4:4) would be defeated by the light of the gospel. We ask God to send others into this person's life who can speak truth in love, for "faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God" (Romans 10:17).

We must also address the responsibility of the one who has been sinned against. While the adultery is clearly wrong, we pray for examination of heart regarding any ways that bitterness or unforgiveness may be taking root. "See to it that no one falls short of the grace of God and that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many" (Hebrews 12:15). We pray for the strength to forgive as Christ forgave (Colossians 3:13), even while maintaining godly boundaries.

Let us pray:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with broken hearts, knowing that You hate to see marriages torn apart. We lift up this situation to You, asking for Your mighty hand of intervention. Lord, we pray for the one who has broken covenant - soften their heart, open their eyes to the gravity of their sin, and bring them to true repentance. Let them see the destruction they have caused and turn to You for forgiveness and restoration.

We pray for the one who has been sinned against - grant them wisdom to know how to proceed, strength to endure this trial, and grace to forgive. Protect their heart from bitterness and help them to trust in Your justice and Your timing.

Father, we ask for a miracle of reconciliation. Where there is hardness, bring softness. Where there is blindness, bring sight. Where there is separation, bring restoration. Let this marriage, if it is Your will, become a testimony to Your redeeming power.

We pray for the family members involved - that they would come to know You personally if they don't already, and that they would be instruments of Your peace and truth in this situation. Let them see the seriousness of sin and the wonder of Your grace.

Lord, we ask that You would bind the enemy's work in this situation. Where there is deception, bring truth. Where there is temptation, provide a way of escape (1 Corinthians 10:13). Where there is spiritual darkness, let Your light shine brightly.

We pray all this in the mighty name of Jesus, the one who makes all things new (Revelation 21:5). We ask for Your will to be done, knowing that You work all things together for good for those who love You (Romans 8:28). Give us patience to wait on You and faith to believe in Your power to restore what is broken.

In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.

We can hear how much you love your wife and how heavily this long season has weighed on you. The fasting, the reaching out, the prayers born from deep wrestling, these are the marks of a heart that refuses to let go, and we do not take that lightly. You have been living in the tension between what you know is permitted and what you still hope will be redeemed, and that is an exhausting place to stand.

What sometimes gets lost in that long vigil is that you are also a man who is grieving. The resources we lean on in ministry remind us that divorce feels very much like a death, it is the death of a marriage, and the effects ripple outward for years. Even as you keep asking God to bring her back, you are also shouldering the weight of what has already been lost. That grief is real, and it does not reflect a lack of faith. It reflects love.

One thing we gently encourage in seasons like this is not to carry the battle entirely alone. Your own words and efforts show deep spiritual stamina, but even the most faithful soldiers rediscover their need for an infirmary. Is there one mature, trustworthy brother or a small group where you can simply say, “I am hurting and I need you to stand with me”, not to strategize about her, but to care for your own soul while you wait? Letting a few safe people see the cost you are carrying can steady you more than you expect.

We are praying with you, and we are praying for her daily, that the light of Christ would break through every shadow, that the Holy Spirit would stir genuine repentance and a new heart, and that whatever unfolds would ultimately draw every person in this family closer to Jesus. We ask You, Father, to guard this husband’s heart from despair and bitterness. Shield his wife and the young ones from evil and deception. In Your perfect timing, break through what no human effort can reach. Sustain him with Your presence when answers feel far off. In Jesus' name.

True repentance is not the mere sorrow of the flesh, nor the terror of judgment, it is the gift of God, the melting of a heart of stone into a heart of flesh. You have poured out your soul in prayer, and that is well, for the Lord alone can give this mighty change. But remember, all the striving of man, all his tears and fasting, cannot wrench a single soul from the grip of sin unless the Spirit bloweth where He listeth. The heart is too hard for human wedges; it must be the hammer of the Word and the fire of love divine that break it. Pray on, but let your faith rest not in your prayers, but in the praying Christ, who ever liveth to intercede.

You speak of her wandering, her adultery, her stubborn refusal to return. It is a deep wound, but know this: the same hand that wounds can heal. Yet there is a repentance that must be repented of, the repentance of terror that leaves the heart untouched, the repentance that wears a new coat but keeps the old man beneath. What we long for is that evangelical repentance which flows from a sight of Christ crucified, that sorrow which kills sin and turns the feet forever unto holiness. No judgment in itself can produce this; only the voice that said, “I have blotted out thy sins,” can dissolve the adamant. Pray, therefore, that the light which commanded the day to shine out of darkness may shine into her heart, to give the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

Do you ask whether there is hope? There is always hope where there is a throne of grace. Though she be as one that wandereth among the tombs, Christ can call her forth. Yet never imagine that any repentance which leaves her in her sin, or any faith that does not make Christ Lord and Master, is the work of salvation. The repentance that is unto life plucks up sin by the roots and plants the cross in its place. It is a wrench from the world to the Father, a turning that is all of grace, and it brings with it a perpetual hungering after purity. If God give her this, then indeed a new heart is there, for none ever cried for a new heart who had not already received the seedling of grace. The broken and contrite spirit is His own work, and where He begins it He will perfect it.

I urge you, then, to wait upon the Lord with a holy importunity, but with your soul stayed in quietness upon His covenant. You have cited the apostle’s word, the unbelieving wife may depart, and you are not under bondage in such a case. But your desire is for a resurrection, not a funeral; you seek her soul’s salvation and the restoration of that which the palmerworm hath eaten. This is Christlike, and He will not despise it. But remember, the heart is in His hand, not yours; the times of refreshing come from His presence. Plead the blood, for there alone is the melting power. Pray as one who expects, but yields the timing to the infinite wisdom of Him who willeth not that any should perish. And shall He not do what is right? Trust Him for her, and for yourself that you may walk in love, that you may keep your own garments unspotted, and that you may be an epistle of Christ, known and read of all, even of her, if the Lord see fit to bring her eyes across the lines of His grace.

Look not to any arm of flesh. The new heart is a creation; none can form it but the Creator. Go you to the cross, and there find for yourself first the brokenness that flows from forgiven sin, and then you shall pray with power for the same unto her. If the Prince of Life speak the word, the grave shall give up its dead. Till then, cast this burden upon the Lord, and be not weary in watching. He that spared not His own Son will freely give all that is needed to bring the wanderer home. Only see to it that you yourself are rooted and grounded in love, that whatever befall, your own soul may be a sweet savor of Christ, both in them that are saved and in them that perish. The Lord grant us to see a new song put into the mouth of her who now is far off, that she may return with weeping and rejoicing, and give glory to the name of Jesus.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

You fast and pray, and this is good; truly, fasting and prayer lend wings to our petitions. But take heed lest, while you mourn her adultery, you neglect the adultery of the heart within yourself. For the Lord said that whoever looks with lust has already defiled his own soul. Examine your own heart, then, with fear: do you desire her repentance purely for the glory of God and the salvation of her soul, or is there mingled with it a wounded pride, a bitter demand for vindication? Godly sorrow works repentance unto salvation, not to be repented of; worldly sorrow brings only death. Let your grief be of the former kind, not the latter.

The woman has broken covenant, has tasted the heavenly gift and the powers of the age to come, and has fallen away. It is a dreadful thing to crucify the Son of God afresh and put Him to open shame. Sins committed after the washing of regeneration bring a punishment more severe, even doubled and quadrupled, because they despise the grace given. Yet while there is breath, the door of repentance is not sealed; God wills not the death of the wicked, but that they turn and live. He alone can replace the heart of stone with a heart of flesh. Therefore let your prayer be constant, but without dictating to God the time or manner. Entreat Him earnestly, as the Church does for those who have fallen; but do not imagine that your fasting can force His hand. It is mercy, not compulsion.

You have asked for wisdom, and rightly so. The Lord permitted divorce for adultery, yet this is a condescension to hard hearts, not a command. If the unbeliever departs, let her depart; the believing spouse is not bound in such cases. But if there remains any hope of her return, however faint, endure for the sake of the testimony. Remember the household of Abraham: Sarah reverenced her husband, and Abraham loved her, and the whole house was knit together in piety. Strive to make your own life a living epistle, known and read by all, so that if she ever again beholds the purity of your conduct and the sincerity of your love, she may be won without a word.

Above all, do not neglect your own soul in the storm. Many, after receiving remission, become negligent and fall into worse sins. Watch and pray, lest you also enter into temptation. Let your fasting be joined to mercy and humility, for a sacrifice without a contrite heart is an abomination. Continue to cry out for her, but say always, “Not my will, but Thine be done.” For God is able even now to shine light into darkness and to turn a sinner from the power of Satan to Himself. Whether He does so in her case is known to Him alone. Your task is to fear Him all the day long, to keep your own garments unspotted, and to leave the rest in the hands of the only Mediator.
