Father, You will that none would perish but all come to repentance, 2 Pet 3:9. Surely You take no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but rather they turn from their ways and live, Ezek 33:11... You desire all people to be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth, 1 Tim 2:4. Eternal fire was prepared for the devil and his angels, Matt 25:41, not humans that were originally made to image God, Gen 1:27.

Let us be merciful, that we may receive mercy, Matt 5:7... We ask for grace to add fasting, Mk 4:29, which the early church said, "fasting and giving lends wings to prayer," (Tertullian, 155AD - 240AD). Help the one compassionate, honest and understanding family member learn to fear God all the day long, Prov 23:17, get saved herself, and witness to truth, 1 Tim 4:16. Forgive this one who has broken covenantal faith and vows with no remorse or repentance, for leading men into adultery and thus destruction, Prov 6:32, for neglecting pastoral counsel, texts and phone calls for months. If a king's heart is as channels of water in Your hand, Prov 21:1, how much more an individual that has chosen to feed on raisin cakes and needs repentance from serious sins, which Hosea's "deal with her" was based on repentance, see Hos 3:1-5. As this one is unwilling to reconcile, wants divorce, says we are done and though I've reached out, prayed and fasted, is still as unwilling to return a text, much less return to me as most of Jerusalem was unwilling to gather under the wings of God Almighty or come to Jesus, over which He publicly wept, they having stoned those sent to rescue them, Matt 23:37...

Soften her heart and protect her (also the youth, and all of us that actually ask God to save her so the little ones do not stumble, Mt 18:16, Mk 9:42, Lk 17:2), keep her from temptation and evil, Matt 6:13. Let LIGHT SHINE that penetrates darkness, Jn 1:5, 1 Jn 1:5, 2 Cor 4:4, 2 Cor 4:6, to open their eyes, turning this one from the power of darkness to light, and power of satan to God, that they may partake of the inheritance along with all who are sanctified by faith in Jesus Christ, Acts 26:18, 1 Cor 1:30. Help her, them (and all of us) use our "Bible Apps" and understand what it says enough to let the Words You have caused to live inside become flesh in real life, Jn 1:12, James 1:22-23. Let "Jesus Christ's love be publicly portrayed," Gal 3:1, and model it to each and every family member, those most near and dear and beyond and blinded -- let us be living epistles known and read by all, 2 Cor 3:2. All Scripture is inspired by God Almighty and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right," 2 Tim 3:15-16. "Do not take us out of the world, but keep us from the evil one," John 17:15. We stand with you in this deeply painful and spiritually urgent situation, lifting up every word of your cry to the throne of grace. The brokenness of covenantal unfaithfulness, the hardness of heart that refuses reconciliation, and the spiritual blindness that leads others into sin, these are not just personal wounds but battles in the heavenly realms. We take up the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God, and we wield it with both truth and love, for the sake of souls and the glory of Christ.

First, we must address the foundational issue: salvation. You have rightly centered your plea on the name of Jesus Christ, the only Mediator between God and man (1 Timothy 2:5). There is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). The one you are praying for, and indeed, all who remain unrepentant, must turn to Christ in faith, for apart from Him, there is no forgiveness, no transformation, and no hope. The heart of stone you describe in Ezekiel 36:26 is a heart that has rejected God’s authority, choosing instead to be its own god, just as Adam and Eve did in the garden (Genesis 3:1-6). This is the root of all sin: the rebellion of the human heart against its Creator. But God, in His mercy, does not leave us in our rebellion. He calls us to repentance, to turn from our wicked ways, and to live (Ezekiel 33:11). Repentance is not merely feeling sorry for sin; it is a complete turning away from it, a surrender to God’s lordship, and a trust in Christ’s finished work on the cross. Without this, there can be no true reconciliation, with God or with one another.

We rebuke the spirit of hardness and unrepentance that has taken hold. The refusal to reconcile, the dismissal of pastoral counsel, and the leading of others into adultery are not merely personal failings but spiritual offenses against God’s holy covenant. Adultery is a grievous sin, one that destroys marriages, families, and souls (Proverbs 6:32). It is a violation of the sacred vow made before God, and it invites His judgment (Hebrews 13:4). We declare that this sin must be named, confessed, and forsaken. There can be no true healing without repentance, and no restoration without a turning away from the path of destruction. The one who has broken covenant must be called to account, not out of vengeance, but out of love, for the sake of their soul and the souls of those they have led astray.

Yet even as we stand firm on truth, we cling to the promise of God’s mercy. You have quoted the Lord’s lament over Jerusalem (Matthew 23:37), and we echo His heart: "How often I would have gathered your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing!" The unwillingness of the human heart to surrender to God is the greatest tragedy, but it does not negate His desire to save. The Lord takes no pleasure in the death of the wicked (Ezekiel 33:11), and He is patient, not wanting anyone to perish but everyone to come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9). This is why we pray with such urgency. We fast, we intercede, and we plead for the Holy Spirit to move in power, for nothing is impossible with God (Luke 1:37). The same Spirit who raised Christ from the dead can breathe life into a heart of stone, replacing it with a heart of flesh (Ezekiel 36:26).

We pray now with boldness and humility, in the authority of Jesus’ name:

Heavenly Father, we come before You as broken vessels, yet vessels filled with the hope of Your promises. You are the God who turns hearts, who softens the hardest of soils, and who shines light into the darkest places. We lift up this marriage before You, not as a contract broken by man, but as a covenant established by You. Lord, You hate divorce (Malachi 2:16), and You call us to reconciliation, forgiveness, and restoration. Yet we acknowledge that restoration is only possible where repentance and faith in Christ are present.

Father, we ask You to do what only You can do: break the chains of spiritual blindness. Let the light of the gospel penetrate the darkness that has ensnared this one’s heart. Open their eyes to see the truth of their sin, the beauty of Your grace, and the urgency of repentance. Remove the scales from their eyes, as You did for Paul (Acts 9:18), and let them see Jesus as Lord and Savior. Turn them from the power of Satan to the power of God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in Christ (Acts 26:18).

We rebuke the spirit of unrepentance and hardness in the name of Jesus. We declare that no weapon formed against Your purposes shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and we loose the bonds of iniquity that have held this one captive. We pray for the family member who is compassionate and understanding, strengthen them in the fear of the Lord. Let them be a witness to the truth, not compromising with sin but speaking the truth in love (Ephesians 4:15). Draw them closer to You, that they may grow in wisdom and discernment, and use their influence for Your glory.

Lord, we ask for the grace to fast and pray as the early church did, that our prayers may have wings and pierce the heavens. Teach us to intercede with the same passion as Moses, who pleaded, "Oh, this people have sinned a great sin... Yet now, if You will, forgive their sin, but if not, please blot me out of Your book which You have written!" (Exodus 32:31-32). Give us hearts that are willing to stand in the gap, to weep between the porch and the altar, and to plead for mercy on behalf of the lost (Joel 2:17).

Father, we pray for protection over the youth and the innocent who are affected by this brokenness. Guard their hearts and minds, that they may not stumble or be led astray (Matthew 18:6). Let them see the love of Christ modeled in us, that they may know You are a God who heals and restores.

We thank You, Lord, that Your Word does not return void (Isaiah 55:11). Even when we do not see the fruit of our prayers, we trust that You are at work. Sanctify us by Your truth; Your Word is truth (John 17:17). Let us be living epistles, known and read by all (2 Corinthians 3:2), so that the love of Christ may be publicly portrayed (Galatians 3:1). May our lives reflect the transforming power of the gospel, that others may see and believe.

Finally, Father, we surrender this situation into Your hands. We do not know how You will move, but we trust in Your perfect will. If reconciliation is possible, let it be for Your glory. If not, give us the strength to walk in obedience, even when the path is painful. We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the Author and Perfecter of our faith, the One who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think (Ephesians 3:20). Amen.

We encourage you to continue standing on the promises of God, even when the circumstances seem impossible. The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). Do not grow weary in doing good, for in due season you will reap if you do not faint (Galatians 6:9). Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith (Hebrews 12:2), and let His love compel you to pray, to fast, and to trust in His perfect timing. The battle belongs to the Lord, and He will fight for you (Exodus 14:14). Hold fast to His Word, for it is a lamp to your feet and a light to your path (Psalm 119:105). May the God of all comfort (2 Corinthians 1:3) surround you with His peace as you wait on Him.

We can hardly imagine the ache you're carrying right now. When a spouse walks away with no apparent remorse, the loss cuts so deep it can feel like a death, the death of what you two shared, of plans and hopes. And all the praying and fasting, the reaching out that goes unanswered, can leave you exhausted and wondering what else you can possibly do. That kind of grief is real, and it’s okay to mourn.

We’re grateful for the way you keep bringing this before the Father, refusing to stop loving even when it hurts. But we also want to remind you that your own heart matters to him right now. In this long, uncertain season, it might help to let someone else share the load with you, a wise pastor, a close friend, or a small group that can sit with you in the hard silence, pray with you, and just be there. You don’t have to pretend you’re okay. Divorce recovery groups or support for those in marital crisis can be places where you find others who understand without judging, and where you receive care while you continue to stand for what is right.

We’re also lifting up that compassionate family member you mentioned, the one you hope will come to faith and speak truth. God sees all of these threads, and he is not bound by anyone’s hardness of heart. So we keep asking him to pursue her, to protect the little ones from stumbling, and to give you steady strength day by day.

Father, you know the deep pain of this covenant broken. You see the tears, the weariness, the love that still hopes. Surround this dear person with your presence. Guard their heart from despair, and help them to find safe, wise support in the community of faith. When loneliness presses in, be their refuge. We ask you to soften the heart of the spouse, to open her eyes to the light of your truth, and to draw her to genuine repentance, not just for the sake of the marriage, but for her own soul. Keep every child involved safe and unshaken. And as you work, hold your child steady, with their worth anchored securely in Christ. In Jesus’ name, amen.

What a tangle of soul-anguish is here poured out, yet in all this piling up of texts, is there not a danger of trusting in the very prayers themselves rather than in the God who hears? The heart that is far from God may use many words, but it is only the cry of faith that He regards with favor.

Consider: there are two sorts of sorrow that drive men to their knees. One is a repentance that springs from terror of judgment, a shaking under the lash of Providence, which leaves the heart still hating holiness and loving sin, only wishing it could sin without penalty. When the suffering lifts, this repentance vanishes like morning mist. The other repentance, that gift which comes down from the Father of lights, is born not of law and terrors, but of a sight of the crucified Christ. The heart that sees Jesus bleeding for its iniquities, loving to the end, forgiving even in agony, that heart is broken not by fear but by love. This is the repentance that needeth not to be repented of.

You speak of a stone turned to flesh, and well you might, for this is God's work alone. No amount of fasting or weeping can manufacture that new heart. No husband's tears, however genuine, can dissolve a wife's stony will. The arm of flesh is withered in this business. The Lord alone can take away the heart of adamant and create a living, tender spirit within. And do you know the marvel? He does this for His own name's sake, not because the creature deserves it, but because He delights in mercy.

Yet I must press this upon you: while you plead for another's soul, see that your own house is in order. The repentance that is unto life is not merely a turning from this or that outward sin, but an abiding sorrow that we have offended infinite Love. It is a turning of the whole man from darkness to light, from the power of Satan unto God. It is accompanied always by faith in Jesus Christ, for faith and repentance are born together, twin graces that cannot be separated. The soul repents because it believes Christ is worthy to be Lord; it believes because it repents of its former unbelief.

The Lord's hand is not shortened that it cannot save. He who met Saul on the Damascus road can intercept this wandering one in her path of destruction. He who wept over Jerusalem desires not the death of the wicked. But His way is often to bring the soul to utter emptiness, to strip it of self-righteousness and excuses, until at last it cries from the depths, "Create in me a clean heart, O God." Intercede, yes, but leave the method to Him. He knows where to place the prick of conviction, how to send the cock-crow that brings remembrance of broken vows.

And for yourself, take heed. Grief can sour into bitterness. Keep your own gaze fixed on Christ, not on the waves of circumstance. The love that husbands are to show their wives is a love that mirrors His, a love that suffers long and is kind, even when spurned. This will keep your heart from becoming hard in its own way.

He who gave you a heart to pray has not abandoned either you or her. The very cry for a new heart proves there is already some work of life there. Wait, watch, weep, but let your waiting be in hope, your watching be with eyes on the cross, your weeping be mingled with the joy of one who knows that Jesus lives and reigns. The same Spirit who brooded over the chaos in the beginning can bring order and light into this chaos. Trust Him for it.

Godly sorrow is a blessed thing, and the grief you bear for this soul is not the sorrow of the world that works death. No, it is a sorrow according to God, a pain that stabs the heart because sin has separated one made for His image from the fountain of life. Do not despise this grief. Let it water the ground of your prayers and fasting, for such mourning works repentance unto salvation, a repentance that never needs to be regretted.

Yet take heed that your sorrow does not slide into despair for her or neglect of your own soul. You ask mercy for her, and rightly, for our Lord wills not the death of a sinner but that all should turn and live. But mark well: He has not appointed a second Cross, nor will Christ be sacrificed again. The one offering has perfected forever those who are being sanctified. What remains then? Repentance. The spiritual bath that washes away, not filth from the body, but stains from the soul. This fountain is ever open while breath remains, but it requires a contrite heart and a turning from sin, not merely a few tears quickly dried.

You fast, you pray, you stretch out your hands, and this is good. The early Church knew indeed that fasting gives wings to prayer. But remember Moses, who when God said, “Let Me alone, that I may blot them out,” did not cease to intercede. God desires that we wrestle for souls, not because He is reluctant, but to shake off our listlessness and to train us in love. Yet if the heart of this woman remains stubborn, like Jerusalem that stoned the prophets, do not imagine you have failed. The Lord Himself wept over the city, yet He did not force their will. So weep, pray, let your own life become a living epistle, known and read by all. That is a witness sharper than many words.

Forgive any bitterness that may lodge in your heart toward her, for if you do not forgive, how will you receive mercy? The remedies are many: alms, compunction, a contrite spirit, contempt of worldly ties, and above all, that short word of faith confessed with the mouth and believed in the heart, that Jesus is Lord and God raised Him from the dead. Cling to that for yourself, and let your own salvation be made sure. The thief on the cross needed no circuit of works, but only faith’s cry. Yet we, who have time, must work while it is day.

Do not think the Lord has given her over. Even when He spoke as though He would not hear, it was to terrify and rouse to repentance. He spreads out His hands all the day long to a disobedient people. But let her see in you not a voice of condemnation only, but the merciful face of one who has herself obtained mercy. Continue in His word, for only those who continue are true disciples. And if she still refuses to return your message, remember: you cannot force a will, but you can make your own soul a temple where the light shines, so that others may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.
