Disciple of Prayer
I’ve been single most of my life and I’m getting sick of it for many reasons. I’ve had girlfriends here and there but they didn’t last that long. I’m a born again christian and I was baptized about two years ago and I made the decision to leave my love life in God’s hands. Trying to find love and dating the way most worldly people do it won’t work for me because I truly believe only God knows who I’m supposed to marry someday. After my spiritual awakening I find it extremely difficult to connect with anyone in any meaningful way. I just really want the woman God has for me to come into my life soon: the one who I can connect with spiritually, emotionally and in every other way. I have faith God does in fact have someone He is preparing for me as He prepares me for her. Any prayers for my breakthrough in love would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

We hear your heart’s longing and share in your desire to walk in God’s perfect will for your life, especially as it pertains to marriage. Your commitment to surrendering your love life to the Lord is commendable, and we stand with you in prayer, believing that He who began this good work in you will bring it to completion (Philippians 1:6). The loneliness and impatience you feel are real, but we encourage you to hold fast to the truth that God’s timing is perfect, even when it doesn’t align with our own.

The world’s approach to dating and relationships often leads to heartache, compromise, and distraction from God’s best. We rejoice that you recognize this and are seeking a spouse who shares your faith and values. Scripture is clear that believers are not to be unequally yoked with unbelievers (2 Corinthians 6:14), and your desire for a wife with whom you can connect spiritually, emotionally, and in every other way reflects the wisdom of God’s design. Marriage is a sacred covenant, a reflection of Christ’s love for the Church (Ephesians 5:22-33), and it is worth waiting for the woman God has prepared for you.

We must also gently address the relationships you mentioned from your past. While it is not our place to judge, we encourage you to examine whether any of those connections involved emotional or physical intimacy outside of marriage. If so, we urge you to repent of any sin and seek the Lord’s cleansing (1 John 1:9). Fornication is a serious matter in God’s eyes (1 Corinthians 6:18-20), and it can create soul ties that hinder your ability to fully embrace the future God has for you. We pray that the Lord would heal any wounds from those relationships and restore your heart to purity as you wait for His best.

Your struggle to connect with others since your spiritual awakening is not uncommon. As you grow closer to Christ, the things of this world, including superficial relationships, lose their appeal. This is a good thing, though it can feel isolating. We encourage you to remain active in a local body of believers, serving and building relationships with other godly men and women. Proverbs 13:20 reminds us, "He who walks with wise men grows wise, but a companion of fools suffers harm." Surround yourself with those who will sharpen you spiritually and hold you accountable as you wait for your future wife.

Let us pray with you now:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with grateful hearts for this brother in Christ. Lord, we thank You for his faith and his desire to honor You in his pursuit of marriage. We ask that You would strengthen his patience and deepen his trust in Your perfect timing. Father, we pray that You would prepare his heart and the heart of his future wife, drawing them both closer to You and to one another in Your perfect way. Lord, we ask that You would remove any distractions, any lingering attachments from past relationships, and any lies from the enemy that seek to discourage him. Fill him with Your peace and assurance that You are working even when he cannot see it.

We pray for his future wife, Lord. Wherever she is, we ask that You would guard her heart and mind, that she would be growing in her relationship with You, and that she would be preparing herself to be a godly wife. Father, we ask that You would bring them together in Your timing, in a way that glorifies You and strengthens their faith. We rebuke any spirit of loneliness, impatience, or doubt that seeks to steal his joy or his trust in You. We declare that his breakthrough is coming, and that he will see Your faithfulness in this area of his life.

Lord, we also pray for wisdom and discernment for him as he interacts with others. Help him to recognize the relationships that are edifying and those that are not. Give him the courage to set godly boundaries and to walk in purity, both in his thoughts and actions. We ask all of this in the mighty name of Jesus, the name above all names, the only name by which we can come to You. Amen.

We encourage you to continue seeking the Lord in prayer and in His Word. Psalm 37:4 says, "Delight yourself also in Yahweh, and he will give you the desires of your heart." As you delight in Him, He will align your desires with His will. Trust that He is preparing you for the wife He has for you, and that He is preparing her for you as well. In the meantime, focus on becoming the man of God you are called to be, a man of integrity, patience, and faith.

If you are not already doing so, consider seeking out opportunities to serve in your church or community. Often, God brings spouses together in the context of shared ministry or service. Additionally, seek out godly mentors, married men who can speak into your life and offer wisdom as you prepare for marriage.

Lastly, we want to remind you that your worth and identity are found in Christ alone. You are not defined by your relationship status, but by your relationship with Him. Rest in that truth, and let it free you from the pressure to find a spouse on your own timeline. God’s plans for you are good, and He will not withhold any good thing from those who walk uprightly (Psalm 84:11). Keep your eyes on Him, and trust that He will lead you to the woman He has for you.

Absolutely 💯 regular prayer faith and scriptures and a relationship with God can lead to lasting peace comfort and happiness through a relationship with him. Faithful prayer and waiting is all apart of it. I am also waiting with you as well. May Father God and Lord Yeshua watch over your peace. Your happiness and over your life and we give all worship all praise and all our love to him. Lord Yeshuas name thank you God.

We hear your deep longing for a godly wife, and we understand how the wait can feel lonely and heavy. It’s not uncommon after a spiritual renewal to find it harder to connect with others, your heart is seeking something deeper, and that’s a good thing, even when it hurts.

We’ve seen that leaning into the family of God right where you are can gently ease that isolation. Worship, a small group, or serving alongside others will not only give you a place to belong, it can help untangle the loneliness. When you invest in genuine fellowship without the pressure of looking for “the one,” you often find surprising connections, and sometimes, in time, the very person God has been preparing.

You’ve already placed your love life in His hands, and that is a wise, courageous surrender. Perhaps the next step is simply to ask Him to fill your present days with meaningful purpose and brotherly warmth while you wait. Trust that He is at work, even when it’s hidden.

We’re praying with you now.

Father, thank You for this honest longing and for a trust that rests in Your timing. Quiet his heart when impatience rises, and comfort him in lonely moments. Surround him with friends who see him, care for him, and walk with him. Prepare both him and the woman You have for him, drawing them gently toward each other in Your way. Grant him a patience that leans into Your goodness, and let him know Your faithful love as his daily companion. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Thank you all for your prayers and wise and kind words. I needed them today.

You speak of searching for your Godly future wife, and I hear the ache in your words, the weariness of long singleness, the frustration of connections that crumble, the earnest resolve to leave it all in the hands of Him who doeth all things well. Your spiritual awakening has taught you that the world’s flirting and folly cannot yield what your soul now craves; only the Lord knoweth who is meet for you. So far, you speak truly. But let me press you with a sharper question: while you wait for this earthly gift, how fareth your love to the Giver Himself? The great love of Christ to His Church is the model and fountain of all true human affection. Have you paused to consider that He is jealous for your whole heart? How determined He is to have all our love! And how readily we grieve Him when our hearts grow cold. Are you, even now, able to look into His face and say without wavering, “Lord, Thou knowest all things; Thou knowest that I love Thee”? That is the one essential. When the soul has learned to delight in Jesus, to sit at His feet and call Him the Well-beloved, then every other desire falls into its proper place. The love of husband to wife is but a candle lit from that eternal flame; take heed that you first cherish the flame itself.

I fear lest your loneliness becloud the truth. That you find it “extremely difficult to connect with anyone in any meaningful way” is not an accident. When grace comes into a soul, the old, easy, superficial affections wither because they were built upon the shifting sands of common worldliness. You cannot now love as you once did, and that is well. But have you learned to love the saints, the children of God, for the Truth’s sake? Here is a sure sign that we have passed from death unto life. Do you seek out the godly, take sweet counsel with them, and find your spirit knit to theirs because you see the mark of Christ upon them? The man who cannot warm to his brethren may himself be out of joint. If you would find a bride who is a daughter of Zion, then walk in the midst of Zion, serve her, love her people. The Lord frequently brings His choice gifts to those who are already busy in His vineyard, not to those who stand idle and gaze down the road.

You say you have left your love life in God’s hands. That is a good profession; but let us test it by the touchstone of godly sincerity. A genuine faith holds fast not only in calm waiting but when the storm beats hard. What if the Lord’s answer tarry? What if you remain single another year, another five? Will you continue to call upon Him then? It is easy to pray when we hope for swift deliverance; but the hypocrite, when his confidence is shaken, soon forsakes the closet. I charge you, then, let your prayers not be a mere venting of impatience, but a patient, loving converse with your Saviour. Rehearse His deeds of grace toward you. Tell Him why you love Him before you unfold your request. The tree bears fruit without groaning, and a Christian performs acts of love to Christ without grudging. So, pray for a spouse, but let your soul be first “sick of love” for Him, crying out, “Stay me with flagons, comfort me with apples: for I am sick of love.” When He sees that His love is your heaven, He will know how to bestow the earthly comfort without spoiling the heavenly.

Remember this: the Lord’s love for you is wonderful, surpassing the love of women. He has given you tokens of His affection in your baptism, your new birth, every mercy you have tasted. Do not forget to look into His eyes while you gaze upon the rings upon your fingers. And as you wait, show your fidelity in the company you keep. Never be where you could not introduce your Master. Let godliness be bound upon your heart, so that you are not lured by the delicate counterfeits that the world dresses up in the garb of virtue. The godly woman you seek will not be found in the haunts of the thoughtless; she will be among those who fear the Lord and speak often one to another.

I will pray for your breakthrough, as you ask; but my prayer is greater than you have spoken. I will pray that you may know the love of Christ which passeth knowledge, and that, filled with all the fulness of God, you may be perfectly content whether the Lord give or withhold this desire. For then, if He send a helpmeet, she will come as a double mercy, and you will love her with a love purified in the furnace of a higher affection. The Lord prepare you for her, and her for you, or, if it be otherwise in His will, give you grace to live a life of singular devotion that shall be a sweet savour unto Him. Cast not aside the holy impressions of your youth; bind the commandment of your God about your heart. And when you pray, pray for the succession of godly households, that your children, should the Lord grant them, may follow the footsteps of the flock.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
