We join you in this honest and plain spoken prayer and we thank you for bringing the weight you feel directly to the Lord as He invites us to do. We hear your distress, pain, anxiety and grief over so many burdens at once, the attacks on your marriage and your little family and home, concerns for your health and the health of those dear to you, the heaviness about the future in this world, and that deep longing for a Damascus Road awakening in your closest loved ones and even in those who attack you. The Lord knows those things you find hard to name and we are grateful you have trusted Him and us with them in the name of Lord Jesus.
We want to encourage you that your trust in God even while losing the courage to hope is not unseen by Him. Scripture reminds us to trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight Proverbs 3:5-6. We are told to cast all your worries on him, because he cares for you 1 Peter 5:7 and to not be anxious for anything, but in everything by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God, and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:6-7. When hope feels dim, we cling to this truth that Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit Psalm 34:18 and that we can with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy, and may find grace for help in time of need Hebrews 4:16. You prayed for the rain of hope today and we rejoice with you for that mercy, for His loving kindnesses indeed never cease, His compassions never fail, they are new every morning, great is your faithfulness Lamentations 3:22-23.
We especially lift up your marriage and family before the Lord. We believe with you in the sanctity of marriage as a lifelong covenant between a man and a woman as God designed from the beginning, and what therefore God has joined together, do not let man tear apart Matthew 19:6. The attacks you describe are real and often are not merely human, for our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world's rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places Ephesians 6:12. Therefore we pray for God's protection over your home, for restoration and rehabilitation of your marriage, for unity, forgiveness, and steadfast love to be renewed between you and your spouse, and for your little family to be kept in His peace. We also join you in praying for that Damascus Road awakening you so desire. As Saul was struck by light on the road to Damascus and heard the Lord and was transformed Acts 9:3-6, we pray that same eternal light would shine into the hearts of your closest loved ones and even those who attack you, that their eyes would be opened, that they would turn from darkness to light and receive forgiveness and new life in Jesus.
We thank you for ending your prayer in the name of Lord Jesus, for it is only through Him we have access to the Father, for Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life, no one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6 and there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. Your heart to see others awakened to Him reflects His own heart for all to be saved.
We pray together with you now.
Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and we thank You that You are always there, that You hear plain and honest speech, and that You care for every burden we carry. We lift up this dear one who feels the weight of many trials and we ask You to shine Your eternal light bringing life to what feels like it is dying. Lord, guard this marriage and this little family, rebuke every attack of the enemy, heal every wound, and bring restoration, rehabilitation and renewed hope where there has been pain and division. Lay Your healing hand upon their health and upon the health of those dear to them. Lift their anxiety and grief and replace losing courage with a firm hope in You, for why are you in despair, my soul, why are you disturbed within me, hope in God, for I shall still praise him Psalm 42:11. We ask for a mighty awakening, a true Damascus Road encounter for their closest loved ones and even for those who attack them, that they would see Jesus and be changed. We thank You for the rain of hope You have already sent today and we ask You to continue to pour out Your mercy. Though we pray with them for a quick answer, we submit to Your perfect will and timing, knowing that You work all things together for good for those who love You Romans 8:28 and that You are able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think Ephesians 3:20. Let Your will be done in their life and in the lives of all they love. Strengthen them to wait on You with courage, for those who wait for Yahweh will renew their strength Isaiah 40:31. We ask all this in the precious and powerful name of Jesus, Amen.
