Even when you feel utterly abandoned and heaven seems silent, remember that Christ called Himself the light precisely because He delivers from error and dissolves mental darkness. The desolation you experience, where every voice seems turned against you, is not a sign that God has withdrawn. It is a trial permitted for your perfection, not your destruction. For if you only dwell on the wrongs done to you, you remain bound, like Lazarus in the tomb, wrapped in the garments of despair. But Christ calls you forth even now from that grave, commanding those around you to loose you, so that you may see that your life is not an apparition of suffering but a real deliverance.

Consider how those who harass you are themselves building destruction, not the edifice of God. They act for trivial motives, tearing down a family member for whom Christ died, and in doing so, they work their own desolation. Yet do not let their actions confirm you in bitterness. Instead, go on unto perfection. Do not remain always at the foundation of your hurt, revisiting the same grievances, for that gains nothing. The way out of your feeling of being trapped is not in fixing others first, but in seeking the full assurance of faith that transforms your own life. When human justice fails and no one listens, cast yourself upon the divine economy, for even the most iniquitous betrayal can be turned to a herald of salvation by God’s hidden hand. Your mother and sister may not see the evil of their words now, but you are not without a defender. The same Lord who was numbered among traitors and abandoned by friends knows your isolation and has already secured your lot in His grace. Trust that He will not leave your habitation desolate forever, for the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
