Tortured by government

We have heard your cry and we are burdened deeply by what you have shared, that you are being tortured by those in authority over you. We want you to know that we are standing with you in prayer right now and we do not take your suffering lightly. The Lord sees what is done in secret and what is done openly, and no affliction escapes His notice. He is close to those who are crushed and oppressed.

The word of God tells us Psalm 34:18 Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. And Psalm 9:9 Yahweh will also be a high tower for the oppressed, a high tower in times of trouble. Even when those who are supposed to protect and do justice instead do evil, God remains the righteous Judge and our true refuge. We are told in Romans 12:19 Don't seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God's wrath. For it is written, Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord. We do not excuse wickedness done by any government, for all authority is ultimately accountable to God, and He will bring justice in His perfect time, and we pray He will bring deliverance and protection for you even now.

We also remember the promise in Isaiah 41:10 Don't you be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness. If you are suffering for doing what is right, Jesus said in Matthew 5:10 Blessed are those who have been persecuted for righteousness' sake, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven. Whether this persecution is because of your faith or for other reasons, we know God can use even this deep suffering for His purposes, as Romans 8:28 reminds us that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose, though we may not see how in the moment.

We noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus, and we want to gently share why His name matters so much to us. It is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and can be saved. Jesus said in John 14:6 I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And Acts 4:12 says There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. If you have not already, we encourage you to put your trust in Jesus Christ, believing that He died for your sins and rose again, and to call upon His name. Romans 10:9 says that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. He is our advocate and our deliverer, and He understands suffering, having suffered Himself.

We pray together for you now. Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ and we lift up this precious one who is enduring torture and oppression. Lord, You see every wound, every fear, every injustice, and we ask You to be a high tower and a shield around them. We ask for Your immediate protection, that You would restrain the hands of those who do evil and bring this torment to an end. We pray for physical healing, for comfort to their heart and mind, for peace that surpasses all understanding to guard them. Lord, we ask that You would make a way of escape where there seems to be no way, that You would bring trustworthy help, godly counsel, and advocates who will stand for justice. Let truth be revealed and let righteousness prevail. We pray that You would strengthen their faith, that they would feel Your nearness and know they are not forgotten or forsaken. We pray for their persecutors as well, that You would bring conviction and repentance. Above all, we pray they would come to know Jesus more deeply as Savior and deliverer and would find eternal hope in Him. We ask all this in the name of Jesus Christ, our only hope and our peace, amen.

We encourage you, if you are in immediate danger, to seek safe help as you are able, from a trusted pastor, a faithful church family, or a reputable organization that helps those who are oppressed, and to document what has happened if it is safe to do so. We encourage you to stay in the Word and in prayer, and to not walk through this alone but to let mature believers walk with you and intercede for you. We will continue to pray for your deliverance, for justice, and for the Lord to uphold you with His righteous right hand.

Physical or like mental? This is a serious thing. God bless you!

I pray that people can abide together to stop this torture in the mighty name of Jesus. I pray that the Lord can bring his righteous anger on those who are wrong in the world today, in the mighty name of Jesus, amen!

Your cry of distress has been heard and is carried with heaviness of heart to the throne of grace. To feel tortured and oppressed by the powers set over you is a sore and fearful trial, and it is no wonder that the soul under such pressure should say, my God hath forsaken me, and that his ear is shut.

Yet that arrow is very often shot by the enemy, and it must not be believed. If the Spirit draws you to the mercy seat, such a fear must vanish, for if thou art at the mercy seat, God is there too. He loves the mercy seat better than thou dost. Do not spread thy grief to the pitiless winds or to the sea, but pour it out before Him who has said, Fear not, for I am with thee, be not dismayed, for I am thy God. I will help thee.

Fear not is a plant which grows very plentifully in God's garden. Again and again He has said it, Fear not, thou worm Jacob, I will help thee, saith the Lord. Fear not, I have redeemed thee. Fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul. This word is meant to remove the fear arising out of sharp persecution. The fear of man bringeth a snare, but the fear of God bringeth blessing. Fear is weakening and it dishonors God, as though the arm which piled the heavens should be palsied before the arm of man. Labor then to get rid of fear by trusting the promised strength, for the Lord still says, Fear not, for I will help thee.

Persecution, in whatever form it is sent, has often been permitted to drive the Christian nearer to his God. How many prayers have been offered up as the result of persecution that would never have been offered else, heaven alone can tell. God has blessed His church by her persecution, and He makes the wave which seems to overwhelm her to speed her course. The genuine Christian who has once come to fear God fears nobody else, for his life is hidden with Christ. He has cast himself upon his God in Christ, and since God has made him free, he is free indeed.

Your deliverance, if it is to come, must be of free grace only. The Lord did not leave Israel to deliver themselves, but it is written, He brought them forth. And that deliverance came when the lamb was slain. So now God has not only invented a way of deliverance, but He has found a ransom, and that ransom is His own dear Son. Sinner, do not doubt your deliverance, for God has said it, I have found a ransom. What is true for deliverance from the pit of sin is true for every trouble, for if He gave His own Son to put away sin, will He not give bread and water and help in daily trouble. He is able to keep that which thou hast committed unto Him.

Therefore keep to prayer as Jacob kept to the brook Jabbok. He wrestled and said, Lord, give deliverance from him whom I think bloodthirsty, and he crossed full of fear and trembling, yet he met his brother and found mercy. So plead at this hour, and look to Jesus Christ who wrought deliverance for you. And if you are in present danger or bodily affliction, seek also the help of those near you whom you can trust, a faithful pastor, a godly friend, or those appointed to give aid, and let them know your burden that they may watch with you and for you.

May the Lord show you light after darkness, that you may yet say, I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord. We were frozen with fear and thought we were as dead men laid out for burial, when suddenly the Lord's face shone in upon us and all darkness was gone.

We will pray for you now. O Lord, Thou seest this afflicted one who feels tortured and pursued. Let the clock of mercy strike the hour of deliverance according to Thy purpose. Say unto this soul, Fear not, for I am with thee. Find for him a ransom in Christ, bring him forth by Thy hand, keep him from the fear of man, and give him to sit by the well's brink refreshed and rid of every fear, that he may live and declare Thy works. In the name of Jesus our Redeemer, Amen.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your cry has been heard and it has been brought before the Lord with sorrow and urgency. To be tortured by those who should protect is a deep injustice, and God sees it fully. He is not distant from your pain, and He will bring all such cruelty into His just judgment.

I am praying for you now, that God would have mercy on you and deliver you from the hands of those who harm you. I pray that He would protect your body and guard your mind, that He would lessen your suffering, give you strength to endure, and make a way for this torture to end. I pray that He would surround you with help, whether through faithful people nearby, through His church, or through others able to offer protection and relief, and that those who have power to stop this would be moved to act with justice and compassion.

Scripture tells us of others who were tortured and did not turn away from God, looking to a better resurrection and to His promise that death is not the end for those who trust in Christ. This does not mean God takes lightly what you suffer. He does not always promise immediate deliverance from death or pain in this life, but He does promise to be near to the brokenhearted, to give strength to despise the fear of death, and to keep every soul that trusts Him for eternal life. He can both deliver in this life and sustain you for the life to come through Jesus Christ, who Himself suffered unjustly and knows your torment.

If you are able to do so safely, please seek protection and help from trusted people around you, a local church community, or others who can advocate for you. You are not forgotten. The Lord calls His people to use what they have, whether protection, practical help, or prayer, for the good of their neighbor, to visit those in distress and to work to end such suffering.

May God grant you His presence in this dark hour, may He restrain the hands of those who hurt you, bring you relief and justice, heal what has been broken, and give you hope in His unfailing love and in the resurrection He has promised. May He comfort your conscience and heart, and keep you in His peace until deliverance comes.

Your cry has been heard and I want you to know that God sees what you are enduring right now. To be harmed by the very authority that is meant to protect you is a deep and painful injustice, and it is right to bring that pain honestly before the Lord.

Scripture teaches that the purpose God gave to government is to preserve what is good and to restrain evil, to protect people and make ordered life possible. When a government instead harms those it should protect, it is failing the purpose for which God ordained it. Yet even then God remains sovereign. There are ultimately two kingdoms at work in this world, the kingdom of God which is light and life, and the kingdom of darkness which is death and rebellion. Every person is invited by God to choose where to stand, and through faith in Jesus Christ you can be transferred from darkness into the kingdom of light. The promise of Scripture is that there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, and that He is able to place a hedge of protection around His children even when earthly protection fails.

The Bible also shows that persecution is not new. From the earliest days of the church, believers have suffered at the hands of governing powers for refusing to deny the Lord. History shows that persecution never destroys true faith. Instead it refines it. It separates what is shallow from what is real, it causes genuine faith to grow stronger, and it binds believers together in love as they cling to Christ and to one another. When the church has faced severe pressure, its faith has often grown exceedingly and its love has abounded, and the message of Jesus has spread even more. That does not make the suffering less real, but it means your suffering is not unseen or meaningless to God. Scripture says that patient endurance under unjust suffering is a testimony of God's righteousness, and that God will one day judge with perfect justice all who inflict tribulation on others.

We are also reminded that our deepest struggle is not only against flesh and blood, but against spiritual powers of darkness that work behind human cruelty. That is why we need the help and power of the Holy Spirit. Without Him we are vulnerable, but with Him we are not left as defenseless prey. He sustains, comforts, and gives strength to stand.

In response to unjust authority, Scripture does not call believers to take up arms to overthrow a government. It calls us to respect authority and obey the law where we can with a clear conscience, using lawful and peaceful means to seek justice, and to pray for those in authority. There is an exception that Scripture is clear about. When a government commands what God forbids or forbids what God commands, we must obey God rather than men. Many believers in the first century chose to suffer and even to die rather than declare that Caesar is Lord, because Jesus alone is Lord.

I do not know all the details of your situation, but please do not walk through this alone. If you are in immediate danger or being physically harmed, seek safe help right away through trusted people, medical care, pastoral care, and lawful avenues for protection and justice where they are available. Reach out to a faithful local church or a mature believer you trust who can be with you, pray with you, and help you take wise next steps for safety.

I am praying for you, that God would surround you with His presence, that He would provide protection and relief, that He would give wisdom to those who can help you, and that He would bring justice in His perfect time. I am praying also for those in authority over you, that God would restrain evil and turn hearts toward what is good and true.

If you have not already, place your full trust in Jesus Christ. He entered into suffering Himself, He was unjustly condemned and abused by both religious and civil powers, and He understands your pain. He rose again so that all who come to Him can have forgiveness, new life, and a secure place in the everlasting kingdom of God, the one government of light and life that will endure forever when every other rule has passed away.

You are not forgotten. The Lord is near to the brokenhearted, He hears your prayer, and He will be your refuge. May He give you strength for each day, peace that guards your heart, and the assurance that He will never leave you.
