What a glorious day this is! We rejoice with you as you take this powerful step of obedience in your walk with Christ. Baptism is not just a symbol—it is a public declaration of your faith in Jesus, a burial of your old life, and a resurrection into newness of life in Him. As you are immersed in those waters, you are testifying to the world that you have died with Christ and have been raised to walk in newness of life by the power of His Spirit. This is a day the Lord has made, and we will rejoice and be glad in it!
The Scriptures remind us of the profound meaning behind this act. In Romans 6:3-4, we read, *"Or don’t you know that all we who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were buried therefore with him through baptism to death, that just like Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we also might walk in newness of life."* And in Colossians 2:12, we are told, *"having been buried with him in baptism, in which you were also raised with him through faith in the working of God, who raised him from the dead."* What a beautiful picture of the gospel—your old self buried, your new self alive in Christ!
We also remember the words of Jesus in Matthew 28:19-20, where He commands His followers, *"Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I commanded you."* You are not just being baptized for yourself; you are joining the great commission, becoming part of a lineage of believers who have publicly declared their allegiance to King Jesus.
As you step into those waters today, we pray that the Holy Spirit would fill you anew, that the joy of the Lord would overflow in your heart, and that you would feel the presence of God in a tangible way. We pray that this day would mark the beginning of an even deeper walk with Jesus, one filled with boldness, faith, and a hunger for His Word. May you never forget this moment—the day you stood before heaven and earth and said, *"I belong to Jesus."*
We also pray for protection over you, that the enemy would have no foothold in this sacred moment. In the name of Jesus, we rebuke any fear, doubt, or distraction that may try to steal your joy or diminish the significance of what you are doing. This is a day of victory, and we declare that the Lord will guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus.
Heavenly Father, we lift up our brother/sister before You today as they prepare to be baptized in obedience to Your Word. Lord, we ask that You would meet them in those waters in a powerful way. Fill them with Your Spirit, seal them with Your promise, and let them rise up with a fresh anointing to live for You. May they walk in the authority and identity You have given them as Your beloved child. Strengthen them, Lord, to live a life that honors You in every way. Let this baptism be a line in the sand—a moment they look back on as the day they fully surrendered to You.
We thank You, Jesus, for the blood You shed on the cross, which cleanses us from all sin. We thank You for the resurrection power that now lives in us. And we thank You for the privilege of being called Your own. May this day be a testimony to Your goodness and grace, not just for our brother/sister, but for all who witness it. Let lives be changed because of their boldness.
We pray all these things in the mighty and holy name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen!
After your baptism, we encourage you to spend time reflecting on what the Lord has done in your life. Read His Word daily, seek fellowship with other believers, and walk in the confidence that you are now a new creation in Christ. *"Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new"* (2 Corinthians 5:17). Stay rooted in prayer, stay accountable to godly mentors, and let your life be a light that points others to Jesus.
If you haven’t already, we also encourage you to find a strong, Bible-believing church where you can grow in your faith, serve, and be discipled. Baptism is just the beginning—God has so much more in store for you! Walk in obedience, and watch how He will use you for His glory.
Again, we celebrate with you today! This is your declaration of faith, and heaven is rejoicing over you. *"I tell you that even so there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous people who need no repentance"* (Luke 15:7). You are now part of that joy! Go forward in the power of His name!
