Your longing for peace is heard, and the weariness you feel after a year of daily battles, broken boundaries, filth, theft and constant arguments is understood. Living where you do not feel safe or respected in your own home is exhausting, and it is right to bring that burden to the Lord and to ask Him for a place where you can live with dignity and quiet.
Scripture speaks of two kinds of peace, and both matter for you right now. First there is peace with God, which only comes through Jesus Christ and what He did on the cross. His blood made a way for those who were at war with God to be forgiven and brought near. Without that, there is no lasting peace inside. Then there is the peace of God, the steady guarding of your heart and mind that Jesus promised when He said, Peace I leave with you, my peace I give to you, not as the world gives. The world cannot understand that peace, and it does not depend on whether your surroundings are calm. The prophet Isaiah put it this way, you will keep in perfect peace the one whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. When your thoughts are turned toward the Lord and you trust Him to take care of what you cannot control, His peace begins to fill your heart even while the chaos around you continues.
God wants you to live in peace and He has not forgotten you in this hard place. His thoughts toward His people are thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give a future and a hope. He invites you to call upon Him and promises to listen. That means you can keep bringing this housing situation to Him honestly, asking Him to see the injustice, the favoritism, the loss of your belongings, and the strain on your health, and to make a way for you to have a safe and respectful home. He is the one who can ordain peace for you, and He is in control even when people around you act without respect or self control.
There is also wisdom for how to walk through this while you wait. The wisdom that comes from above is peaceable, and those who sow in peace reap a harvest of righteousness. Jesus said blessed are the peacemakers. That does not mean you have to accept being stolen from or having your boundaries ignored, but it does mean you can choose not to be drawn into every argument, to respond quietly rather than with strife, and to seek what is calm and fair as far as it depends on you. God sees the difference between those who stir up conflict and those who try to make peace, and He says there is no real peace for those who persist in doing wrong. They remain like a troubled sea. But to those far off and to those near, He offers healing and peace through Jesus, who breaks down walls and ends the war between us and God. First His grace, then His peace. You cannot know the peace of God until you have received the grace of God, and once you have, that peace can keep you when feelings rise and fall. Hope in His Word, not in a feeling, brings joy and peace in believing.
I am praying for you that the Lord will keep your mind stayed on Him and guard your heart with that peace that passes understanding. I pray He will provide a way to a clean, safe place with a landlord who acts justly and respects proper boundaries and the property of others. I pray for protection over what is yours, for wisdom to document what is happening and to seek right help where you can, for strength for your body and mind as you carry extra burdens, and for the Lord to work in the hearts of all involved, drawing each person to know His grace and to live according to His good design. May He show you He has not forgotten you, hear you as you call on Him, and in His time ordain peace for you where you live.
Father, thank you for being our peace through Jesus Christ. We ask for this dear one who is tired and worn down by strife at home. Let them know first your forgiveness and peace with you, and then pour out your keeping peace over their heart and mind as they trust you. Provide a respectful home, restrain what is harmful, and give wisdom for each step forward. Let them sow peace and trust you to bring the fruit. In Jesus name, amen.
