Your prayer reflects a heart that longs to see the gospel take root and bear fruit, and it is a joy to join you in it. Thank you for bringing these burdens before the Lord with such care for His Word and for those who are hearing it.
We agree with you in asking that God would give revelation and faith to those who have heard the message of the cross. What looks like foolishness to the world is in truth the wisdom and power of God to everyone who is being saved. Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ, and salvation is a gift received by grace through faith, not from ourselves. Righteousness before God has always been by faith. From the beginning, one offering was accepted and the other rejected because one was brought in faith and the other only as the work of human hands. That testimony still stands, that God counts righteousness to those who believe Him.
We also pray as you have, that the seed that has been sown would be watered and that God would give the growth. We may plant and we may water, but only God makes it grow. He is the one who gives spiritual hunger, like newborns craving pure milk, and He is the one who gives wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Himself. Genuine faith is living. It is not mere words without action, for faith without corresponding works is dead. Faith moves us to action, and action proves that faith is real. They belong together like two oars needed to move a boat forward. Faith in God comes first, and that faith then provokes works for God, not to earn salvation but to show that salvation has truly been received.
We join you in praying for protection over those who have heard. Jesus warned that the evil one comes to snatch away the word that has been sown, and that the thief comes to steal and destroy. So we ask the Father to keep them from the evil one, as Jesus prayed, and to guard them until salvation is fully beheld. He has promised to give His angels charge over His own and He is faithful to keep those who belong to Him. We ask too that the strong man would be bound and his goods plundered, that what has been sown would not be stolen but would take deep root.
We thank God with you for every open door for effective service, even where there is opposition and trial. The Lord leads His people to divine appointments in homes and on streets, in small gatherings and in public places, among family and friends and even enemies, wherever His Spirit moves. We ask that He would give clarity for what to say and how to say it, speaking the truth in love.
And we agree that God would remind all who have heard, and remind us as well, of our need, our sin, and the free grace offered in Jesus. His arm is not too short to save. Jesus, who knew no sin, became sin for us and bore the curse, dying as the Lamb of God to pay the debt in full. It is finished. He was raised, He appeared to many witnesses, He ascended, and He sent the Holy Spirit. The right response is repentance toward God and faith in Jesus, turning from sin with grief and hatred for it and turning to Him with trust, continuing in His word as His disciples. The promise made to Abraham was to his Seed, which is Christ, and all who are in Christ are made heirs of that promise. In Him we have wisdom and righteousness and sanctification and redemption.
We trust the Holy Spirit to continue His work until the day of Christ Jesus, to bring to completion what He has begun. May the Lord grant full faith and repentance, new obedience, and a growing hunger for His Word, and may He be glorified as the one who alone gives the increase. We ask this in the name of Jesus, believing that the Father hears us when we pray according to His will.
