The Heart-a Den of Evil
The human heart is the source of all sin, and only God’s grace can cleanse and renew it.
Your prayer for those hearing the gospel is good and faithful, and I join my voice with yours before God who hears earnest prayer.

We give thanks that God has not left us without witness. As you have said, the message of the cross which seems foolish to the world is in truth the wisdom and power of God for those who are being saved. He clothed Himself in flesh and sent forth men like ourselves to speak His word, so that those who could not endure His unveiled glory might hear a kindred voice and come near and be saved. Even when we are weak and unworthy, earnestness before Him suffices, and He is able to accomplish what we ask according to His mercy.

So we pray together for all who have lately heard the word, whether in homes, in marketplaces, in gatherings small or large, on street corners, among family and friends and even among enemies, wherever the Spirit moves. We ask the Father to grant them revelation and wisdom in the knowledge of Christ, to open their eyes to see their need and His grace. Grant that faith may come by hearing, and that the gift of salvation by grace through faith may be freely received, not as wages earned but as mercy given through the blood of Jesus who died for our sins, who finished the work on the cross, who was raised and seen by many witnesses, who ascended and sent His Holy Spirit.

We ask that the seed sown may be watered and may grow, for we plant and water but God alone gives the growth, and without Him we can do nothing of true value. Give to those hearers a real hunger for the pure milk of the word, and bring them to maturity in Christ who has become for us wisdom and righteousness and sanctification and redemption.

We pray also for protection. The evil one seeks to snatch away the seed as soon as it is sown and to steal and destroy, but Christ has come that they may have life abundantly. We ask the Lord to keep them from the evil one, to bind the strong man and plunder his house, and to command His angels to guard those who are heirs of salvation until they behold Him fully. Let no opposition or trial turn them aside, but let the word take deep root.

For those who have been praying for boldness to witness in the face of opposition, we thank God for every open door for effective service, even when adversaries are many. Give us and them what to say and how to say it, with meekness and truth, and remind us all of the simple gospel, that Christ who knew no sin became sin for us and bore the curse, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him, and as His ambassadors carry the word of reconciliation.

We trust the Holy Spirit to continue His work until the day of Christ Jesus, to grant full repentance which turns from sin with grief and hatred of it and walks in new obedience, and to keep all who believe in continued discipleship in His word. May He who began a good work bring it to completion.

We ask all this in the name of Jesus, believing that the arm of the Lord is not too short to save, and that what He has promised He will do. Amen.

Your prayer reflects a heart that longs to see the gospel take root and bear fruit, and it is a joy to join you in it. Thank you for bringing these burdens before the Lord with such care for His Word and for those who are hearing it.

We agree with you in asking that God would give revelation and faith to those who have heard the message of the cross. What looks like foolishness to the world is in truth the wisdom and power of God to everyone who is being saved. Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ, and salvation is a gift received by grace through faith, not from ourselves. Righteousness before God has always been by faith. From the beginning, one offering was accepted and the other rejected because one was brought in faith and the other only as the work of human hands. That testimony still stands, that God counts righteousness to those who believe Him.

We also pray as you have, that the seed that has been sown would be watered and that God would give the growth. We may plant and we may water, but only God makes it grow. He is the one who gives spiritual hunger, like newborns craving pure milk, and He is the one who gives wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Himself. Genuine faith is living. It is not mere words without action, for faith without corresponding works is dead. Faith moves us to action, and action proves that faith is real. They belong together like two oars needed to move a boat forward. Faith in God comes first, and that faith then provokes works for God, not to earn salvation but to show that salvation has truly been received.

We join you in praying for protection over those who have heard. Jesus warned that the evil one comes to snatch away the word that has been sown, and that the thief comes to steal and destroy. So we ask the Father to keep them from the evil one, as Jesus prayed, and to guard them until salvation is fully beheld. He has promised to give His angels charge over His own and He is faithful to keep those who belong to Him. We ask too that the strong man would be bound and his goods plundered, that what has been sown would not be stolen but would take deep root.

We thank God with you for every open door for effective service, even where there is opposition and trial. The Lord leads His people to divine appointments in homes and on streets, in small gatherings and in public places, among family and friends and even enemies, wherever His Spirit moves. We ask that He would give clarity for what to say and how to say it, speaking the truth in love.

And we agree that God would remind all who have heard, and remind us as well, of our need, our sin, and the free grace offered in Jesus. His arm is not too short to save. Jesus, who knew no sin, became sin for us and bore the curse, dying as the Lamb of God to pay the debt in full. It is finished. He was raised, He appeared to many witnesses, He ascended, and He sent the Holy Spirit. The right response is repentance toward God and faith in Jesus, turning from sin with grief and hatred for it and turning to Him with trust, continuing in His word as His disciples. The promise made to Abraham was to his Seed, which is Christ, and all who are in Christ are made heirs of that promise. In Him we have wisdom and righteousness and sanctification and redemption.

We trust the Holy Spirit to continue His work until the day of Christ Jesus, to bring to completion what He has begun. May the Lord grant full faith and repentance, new obedience, and a growing hunger for His Word, and may He be glorified as the one who alone gives the increase. We ask this in the name of Jesus, believing that the Father hears us when we pray according to His will.

Thank you for giving us the privilege to pray on your behalf. We are glad that you asked us to stand in agreement with you in prayer for those hearing the gospel of Christ.

We have continued to lift up before the Father those who have heard the Word, that He would grant revelation and faith according to Rom 10:17 and Eph 2:8, that He would water the seed that has been sown as in 1 Cor 3:6 and give the growth as in 1 Cor 3:7, and that He would create a true spiritual hunger for His Word as in 1 Pet 2:2 and wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him as in Eph 1:17. We have prayed for protection from the evil one who seeks to snatch away the seed as in Mark 4:15 and to steal and destroy as in John 10:10, and that the Lord would keep them from the evil one as in John 17:15 and give His angels charge over them as in Psalm 91:11 and Heb 1:14. We are also continuing to pray for grace to witness with wisdom and power through the foolishness of the cross as in 1 Cor 1:18, for wide doors for effective service even in the face of opposition as in 1 Cor 16:9, and that the Holy Spirit would continue His work until the day of Christ Jesus as in Phil 1:6.

We are glad to have stood with you for these divine appointments and for the work of the Gospel to bring salvation by grace through faith.

If your request was answered and you have seen revelation, growth, hunger for the Word, or protection and open doors for the Gospel, please post a praise report and let us all know so we may rejoice with you. If your request does not seem to have been answered, please post it again as a new request and allow us to continue with you in prayer.

May God bless you as you continue to seek Him through His Son, Jesus Christ. We pray that the Lord will continue to reveal His righteousness, strengthen faith, water every seed sown, and guard every heart that has heard until salvation is beheld, and we ask this in Jesus Name, Amen.
