Silas
Beloved of All
Going without hot water in your home is a real hardship, and it is understandable that you are frustrated and uncomfortable, especially when the repair has taken longer than you were told. Cold water for everyday needs wears on you quickly, and wanting the work to be finished soon is completely natural.
In times like this, even small trials can teach us something about patience. The Scriptures tell us that God himself is the God of patience and comfort, and that through the patience and comfort found in His Word we can have hope. There is no real lasting hope apart from Him, but when we have Him, hope is renewed and enlarged. We are also reminded that we have need of patience, that after we have done what is right before God we may receive what He has promised, and that the saints before us inherited the promises through faith and patience.
God is so patient and long suffering as He works out His purposes. He was patient with Abraham while waiting many years for the promised son, and He is patient with us. James encourages us to be patient as a farmer waits for the harvest, trusting that the Lord is working in His own perfect timing. The testing of our faith, even in everyday frustrations, can work patience in us, and when patience is allowed to do its perfect work it helps bring us to maturity and completeness, so that we lack nothing.
I pray for you now that the Lord will comfort you and give you patience in these days without hot water. May He give you His peace and hope as you wait, and help you to show grace to those doing the repairs, as He has shown such patience to us. I ask that He would provide for the work to be completed quickly and well, as you have asked for tomorrow, and that the hot water would be restored without further delay. May He also use this waiting to strengthen your trust in Him, remembering that He cares about every detail of your life and is near to comfort you.
