We understand how difficult and uncomfortable this situation is and we join together with you in bringing this need before the Lord. Living without hot water, especially when you were given a promise that it would be restored and that promise was not kept, can be trying and can test our patience. We want to lift this burden to our Father who cares about even these practical details of our daily lives.
We are reminded in Philippians 4:6-7, In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. And also in Philippians 4:19, My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. Even when we face small trials and inconveniences, God invites us to trust Him and to give thanks in all circumstances, as we read in 1 Thessalonians 5:18, In everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus toward you.
We also noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ. We gently want to remind you that it is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God and that we are saved. Jesus said in John 14:6, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And in Acts 4:12 we read, There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. It is because of His sacrifice on the cross and His resurrection that we can boldly bring every request, even for hot water, before the throne of grace. To be without this daily comfort is indeed an inconvenience of the body, and we do not despise it, for our heavenly Father knows what things we have need of. We pray that the workmen may be given skill and diligence to complete the repair, and that by tomorrow, if it be His will, the heating may be restored and your dwelling made comfortable again. May the Lord in His mercy grant that what was promised for Tuesday may not be long delayed.
Yet we would have you see how even such a little waiting may become a school for the soul. Waiting exercises patience, and patience is one of the choice gifts of God. You have heard of the patience of Job, who learned to endure both great bereavements and personal afflictions, and whose patience became a testimony to many. In a far smaller measure, to wait a day or two for a temporal mercy may teach us to hold this world with a loose hand and to look upon earthly comforts as fickle joys which come and go at our Father's bidding.
We are reminded that blessed be the Lord who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation. When one benefit is for a season withheld, how many remain. The water is cold, yet the fountain of living water still flows. The body shivers, yet the soul may still be warmed by the love of Christ. Let this be a season to renew your strength by waiting upon God, for they that wait upon the Lord shall find their courage strengthened and their hearts kept in peace, seeing the littleness of present inconveniences in the light of His great mercy.
