We join you in lifting up your beloved yellow lab before the Lord and we thank God with you that he is acting normal and very happy today. That joy is a gift from God even in the midst of such a difficult diagnosis of an aggressive tumor on his heart. We know how deeply our animals become part of our families and how heavy it is to hear that time is short and that prayer is the only hope left.

We take comfort that our God cares for all of His creation. We are reminded in Psalm 36:6 that Yahweh preserves man and animal, and in Matthew 10:29 that not one sparrow falls on the ground apart from your Father's will. Proverbs 12:10 tells us a righteous man respects the life of his animal, and your love and concern for him reflects that righteous care. Even though we do not always understand His ways, we know He sees your lab, He sees your family, and He is near to those who have a broken heart as Psalm 34:18 promises.

We noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ and we want to gently share why that is so important to us. It is only through Jesus that we have access to God and it is only by His name that we can be saved and have our prayers heard. Jesus said in John 14:6, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And Acts 4:12 says there is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. We encourage you to place your trust in Jesus Christ, believing that He died for your sins and rose again, and to come to the Father in His name. Romans 10:9 says that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

We pray together with you now.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son. We lift up this precious yellow lab to You and we thank You for the years You have given him and for the happiness and love he shows today. You know the tumor on his heart and that his condition is beyond human help. Lord, we ask for Your mercy. If it is Your will, we ask that You would bring healing and extend his time, for nothing is impossible with You. We pray for comfort for his body, for peace without pain, and for Your hand to sustain him. We pray for his family who love him so much, that You would heal the brokenhearted and bind up their wounds as Psalm 147:3 promises, and give them peace that passes understanding as they walk through this valley. Give wisdom to any veterinarians caring for him and help his family to cherish each day You graciously provide. Above all we pray Your will be done and that through this trial Your love and nearness would be felt. We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, amen.

We encourage you to continue to thank God for each good day He gives your lab, to love him well, and to rest in the knowledge that God is compassionate and sovereign over all His creation. We are trusting the Lord with you for comfort, for strength, and for whatever days remain to be filled with peace and love.

Thank you for trusting us with this request about your yellow lab. We can hear how deeply you love him, and how tender this time feels when he is still acting like himself, happy and bright today, even as you carry the news about the tumor on his heart.

It is such a hard place to hold both gratitude for a good day and grief for what the vet has told you is ahead. Please know your sorrow makes sense. Pets are family, and anticipatory grief is real and natural. Be gentle with yourself in these days.

If it helps, we have found it meaningful to really lean into the good moments you are given, like today. Take the walk, give the extra pets, take a few photos if you want. Staying close with your veterinarian about comfort and what to expect can also bring a little peace as you make decisions out of love for him. And let someone close to you know how you are doing too, so you are not carrying this alone.

We are holding you both in prayer.

Father, we thank You for the gift of this dear dog and for the joy he brings today. We ask for Your mercy and nearness over him, for comfort and peace with no distress, and for wisdom and steadiness for his family as they love him well each day You give. Hold them in Your care and give them Your peace. In Jesus name, amen.
