Thank you for sharing your heart about your yellow lab and the aggressive tumor on his heart. I am so sorry to hear that time is short, and I understand how heavy this is when you love him so deeply. Seven years of faithful companionship creates a strong bond, and it is a tender mercy that he is acting normal and happy today. That joy today is a gift.
In seasons like this when the heart is in turmoil and sorrow feels close, God reveals Himself as the God of all comfort. He stands by us in the darkest hours and in difficult situations to strengthen and encourage us. There is real consolation in Christ, real comfort in His love, and real fellowship of the Spirit with compassion and mercy. His merciful kindness and His tender mercies are meant to be our comfort, and His Word brings life and hope when we do not know what to do. When we turn to Him and place it in His hands, we can find rest in trusting His faithfulness even when we do not understand.
We do not always understand why God heals some and does not heal others. That is a mystery we cannot fully answer in this life. What we can do is trust that He is faithful, that He cares, and that He lifts us when we are in deep sorrow and despair. Like the friends who came to sit and weep with Job in his suffering, we want to sit with you in this sorrow and comfort you, not with easy answers but with presence and prayer.
What a comfort and strength it is to know that others are praying for you, striving together in prayer to God on your behalf. I am praying for you and for your dear companion. I am asking the Lord to surround you with His peace and comfort, to give you wisdom and grace for each day, and to make these remaining days as gentle and joyful as possible for him. May you sense the Lord very near, ministering to your heart through His Word and by His Spirit, and may His tender mercies sustain you.
May the Lord of peace give you peace and may the God of all comfort hold you close in this time.
