We join with you in thanksgiving for this beautiful prayer and for your hunger to hear the Shepherd's voice and be led by the Holy Spirit. Your heart to recount the whole work of Christ from the manger to the cross, to His burial and resurrection, His forty days of appearing and teaching, His ascension, and His sending of the Holy Spirit as our Counselor and Advocate is pleasing to God, for it keeps the gospel central as we seek His leading.
We love that you have anchored your requests in the Word, and we stand with you on these promises. Jesus said in John 10:27, My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. And as you prayed, in John 10:5, They will by no means follow a stranger, but will flee from him; for they don't know the voice of strangers. What comfort that we are known by Him and enabled to discern His voice from every other voice. We are also reminded in Romans 8:14, For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are children of God. This is our identity and our confidence, that being led is not for a few but for all who belong to Him.
We agree with you for the filling of wisdom and understanding. We pray as it is written in Colossians 1:9, that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, that you may walk worthily of the Lord, to please him in all respects. And we claim with you the promise in James 1:5, But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given to him. God delights to give wisdom generously as we cry out for it, for Proverbs 2:6 says, For Yahweh gives wisdom. Out of his mouth comes knowledge and understanding. He lays up sound wisdom for the upright.
We also rejoice with you that you come in faith, for Hebrews 11:6 says, Without faith it is impossible to be well pleasing to him, for he who comes to God must believe that he exists, and that he is a rewarder of those who seek him. Your diligent seeking is not in vain, He sees and He rewards.
We lift up your request for peace as you bring everything to Him with thanksgiving. We claim Philippians 4:6-7 over you, In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. And we agree for the joy and peace of Isaiah 55:12, For you shall go out with joy, and be led out with peace. The mountains and the hills will break out before you into singing; and all the trees of the fields will clap their hands.
We thank God that we have an intercessor and keeper. Romans 8:34 reminds us it is Christ who died, yes rather, who was raised from the dead, who is at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us, and Hebrews 7:25 says, Therefore he is also able to save to the uttermost those who draw near to God through him, seeing that he lives forever to make intercession for them. And we rest in His prayer in John 17:15, I pray not that you would take them from the world, but that you would keep them from the evil one.
So we pray together now, Father, we thank You for Your Son Jesus Christ, for His perfect life of about thirty three years on this earth, with His three plus years of public ministry revealing Your heart through teachings, miracles, compassion for the poor, and patience with us in our unbelief, and for His self restraint and suffering in our place upon the cross, His burial, His victorious resurrection, and His ascension. Thank You for sending Your Holy Spirit to dwell in us. We ask now that You would cause us to hear Your voice with clarity and to be led by Your Spirit in every decision. Fill us with the knowledge of Your will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding. Grant us generous wisdom liberally and without reproach. Guard our hearts and minds with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. Keep us from the evil one and lead us forth with joy and peace. We ask with confidence knowing as 1 John 5:14-15 says, This is the boldness which we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will, he listens to us. And if we know that he listens to us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions which we have asked of him. We receive Your leading, Your wisdom, and Your peace now with thanksgiving, in the mighty name of Jesus, Amen.
