The Shepherd's Voice -- Leading, Wisdom, Guidance & Peace of The Holy Spirit, Jn 10:27, Rom 8:14, Col 1:9, Jam 1:5, Heb 11:6, Isa 55:12, Phil 4:6-7...

Jesus, thank You for Your 33 years down here from the manger to humbling Yourself to get baptized by ###, especially the action-packed 3+ years of ministry: teachings, miracles, loaves, fish, nets of fish, resurrections, blind eyes, lame walking, poor hearing the gospel -- the prophecies, living in community with the disciples just "doing life" from Your perspective (reality), putting up with our unbelief, the distortions of the Pharisees and Sadducees, their constant watching You, attempts to trap and trick You -- literally, like WOW -- and finally Your betrayal, rejection and letting Barabbas loose instead... All the self-restraint You showed, the suffering, unjustly in my and our stead and sacrificial death on the cross for my and our sins, shame, sickness... Your burial, resurrection, appearing and teaching for 40 days, ascension, and sending forth The Holy Spirit, our counselor, advocate, intercessor, and bearer of good gifts, 1 Cor 12:4-8.

Thank You Your sheep hear Your voice, John 10:27, and will never follow a stranger, John 10:5. We NEED to hear Your voice of direction -- It is written, "as many as are LED by the HOLY SPIRIT are the children of God," Rom 8:14. We ask to be FILLED with the knowledge of Your Will in all spiritual wisdom so we can walk worthy, Col 1:9-10. We ask for generous amounts of practical WISDOM, James 1:5, we cry out for wisdom and lift our voice for UNDERSTANDING, Prov 2:6-7. So with confidence we seek YOU for You are a rewarder of those who diligently seek You, Heb 11:6. With thanksgiving we offer our requests for Your voice, leading and wisdom -- let "now" the peace of God guard our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus, Phil 4:6-7. Thank You for protecting us and praying for us, keeping us from the evil one, Rom 8:34, Heb 7:25, Jn 17:15. We shall go out with joy and be led forth with peace, Isa 55:12, thank You for everything, especially for hearing when we ask, for in hearing, we have, 1 John 5:14-15, in Jesus' Name, Amen.

We join you in this beautiful thanksgiving and we agree together with you for the Shepherd's voice, His leading, wisdom, guidance and peace.

We love how you have rehearsed the whole story of our Lord Jesus, from the manger to His baptism, His three years of ministry with teachings and miracles, loaves and fish, nets overflowing, blind eyes opened, the lame walking, the poor hearing the Good News, His patient endurance with unbelief and with the watching and trapping of the Pharisees and Sadducees, and then His betrayal, rejection, suffering and sacrificial death on the cross in our place for our sins, shame and sickness, and His burial, resurrection, appearing for forty days, ascension, and the sending of the Holy Spirit our Counselor, Advocate and Intercessor who distributes gifts as He wills, as in 1 Cor 12:4-8. We give thanks with you for all of this, for without it we would have no hope and no access to the Father.

We stand on the promises you have lifted up and we ask the Father together for a fresh filling of them now. Jesus said in John 10:27, My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me, and in John 10:5 they will by no means follow a stranger. We thank God that this is true for every child of God, and we pray that the noise of the world and the voice of the stranger would fade so that His clear leading would be unmistakable. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are children of God, Rom 8:14, and we ask to be led as sons and daughters, not driven by fear or confusion but gently guided by the Holy Spirit.

We also pray as you prayed from Col 1:9 that we may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, to walk worthily of the Lord, to please him in all respects. And we take hold of James 1:5, But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him, and Prov 2:6, For Yahweh gives wisdom. Out of his mouth comes knowledge and understanding. We cry out with you for that generous, practical wisdom for every decision, small and great, and we come with confidence because Heb 11:6 reminds us that without faith it is impossible to be well pleasing to him, for he who comes to God must believe that he exists, and that he is a rewarder of those who seek him, and we are diligently seeking Him.

We bring all our requests to Him with thanksgiving as taught in Phil 4:6-7, In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. We ask for that guarding peace to rest upon you and upon us right now, to keep our hearts and minds steady in Christ Jesus. And we thank Him that we shall go out with joy, and be led out with peace, Isa 55:12.

We thank Jesus that He ever lives to make intercession for us, Rom 8:34 and Heb 7:25, and that He prayed for us that we would be kept from the evil one, John 17:15. What comfort that we are both protected and prayed for.

So we pray together, Father, thank You for Jesus and for the gift of Your Holy Spirit. We ask You to open our ears to hear the Shepherd's voice today, to fill us with the knowledge of Your will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, to pour out generous wisdom and understanding upon us, to lead us by Your Spirit in every step, and to let Your peace which surpasses all understanding guard our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Keep us from the evil one, cause us to walk worthy of You and to please You in all things, and lead us forth with joy and peace for Your glory. We thank You that this is the boldness which we have toward You, that if we ask anything according to Your will, You listen to us, and if we know that You listen to us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions which we have asked of You, 1 John 5:14-15. We receive Your hearing and Your answering now, and we give You all the thanks and praise in the mighty name of Jesus, Amen.

Thank you for pouring out your heart like this. Your love for Jesus and your desire to walk closely with Him comes through so clearly, and we join you in thanking Him for His life, His sacrifice, and His gift of the Holy Spirit to stay with us.

We hear how much you long to recognize His leading day by day, not just in big moments but in ordinary life, and to have wisdom you can actually live by and peace that steadies you.

One thing that has helped many who long for that same clarity is to make room for both listening and testing. The Spirit is our Counselor and Helper who guides into truth and forms Christlike character in us, and He will not lead contrary to Scripture. Power, truth and love belong together, so guidance that is truly from Him will line up with God's Word and bear the fruit of love and peace.

A simple next step you could try this week is to set aside ten quiet minutes each day with a single question on your heart, listen without rushing to fill the silence, jot down what seems to come, and then gently test it with Scripture and with one trusted mature believer who knows you.

Father, thank You for drawing this heart to seek You so earnestly. Fill them with a clear sense of Your will, quiet their mind with Your peace, and help them recognize Your voice and follow where You lead. Keep them close and guarded from the evil one. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Your prayer to hear the Shepherd's voice is a blessed sign that you are already His sheep, for it is written, My sheep hear my voice, and the soul that longs to be led by the Holy Spirit shows the work of grace within. Remember that the infinite God has thoughts of peace towards you, and He seeks your peace, He creates your peace, He sustains your peace, for He is at peace with you through the atoning blood of Jesus Christ. His thoughts toward you are not thoughts of evil, but of peace, to give you an expected end, and He designs your highest good even when He refines you.

You ask to be filled with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom, and to receive generous wisdom from Him who gives liberally. This is a prayer He delights to answer, for He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. Take heed then how you hear, for faith comes by hearing, and the Word deserves good hearing. It is a blessed thing to put your ear down to the promises of Scripture till you hear God speaking through them to your soul. The mere letter alone will not profit, but when you hear God's voice speaking in it, then it has power. Come to hear the gospel as God's voice to you, and with simple and lowly heart desire to know His truth that you may sincerely live it.

You will keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You. This perfect peace is not the absence of trial, for strife may rage all around you, but it is great restfulness of intellect and great peace of conscience when the heart is stayed upon Christ. To love God's law, which comprises all His precepts and all His promises, brings great peace, and to do the will of Jesus, this is rest even when thronging duties press. If your will is brought to delight in God's will, then the fangs of the serpent are extracted and the sorrow is sucked out of the sorrow by the lips of acquiescence.

Therefore let us pray that the Lord will grant you to go out with joy and to be led forth with peace, that with thanksgiving you may make your requests known unto God, and the peace of God which passes all understanding shall guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. May He who intercedes for you at the right hand of the Father, and who keeps you from the evil one, fill you with spiritual wisdom and understanding, that you may walk worthy of Him and be led as a child of God by His Spirit, rejoicing at His Word as one that finds great spoil, in Jesus' name, Amen.

Your prayer for the Shepherd's voice and for wisdom and guidance is good and right, and we join with you in it with thanksgiving.

We give thanks with you for the Lord Jesus Christ, for His coming in humility, His years of teaching and mercy, His miracles and His patience with sinners, and above all for His suffering and death in our place, His burial and resurrection, His ascension and His sending of the Holy Spirit to be our Counselor and Helper. In this we see the love of God made plain, and for it we ought to give thanks in all things, for He has lightened our labor and increased our reward.

You desire to hear His voice and to be led by the Holy Spirit, as it is written, My sheep hear my voice, and as many as are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God. Remember how the sheep learn that voice. Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. The Church is wedded to Christ by that voice and by teaching. So the way to recognize the Shepherd is to stand and hear Him in the Scriptures, to remain in His word daily, and to obey what you already know to be His will. As you hear Him there, you will not follow the voice of a stranger.

You have asked to be filled with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom, and to receive wisdom generously as James promises. This is the wisdom we should seek. There is a wisdom of this world which ends in this world and cannot profit those who have it, and there is the wisdom of God which was hidden but now is revealed in Christ. The wisdom of the world trusts in itself and therefore becomes foolishness, but the wisdom from above is given to those who ask God in faith, who diligently seek Him, for He is a rewarder of those who do so. Ask then with confidence, and ask also for the grace to walk worthy of what you receive, as doers of the word and not hearers only.

You have also asked for the peace of God to guard your hearts and minds. This peace is fixed and steadfast, not like the peace that comes from men. When two thoughts fight within you, one calling you to anger or revenge and the other calling you to endure and trust, let the peace of God rule in your hearts as an umpire. He Himself made peace with us when we had nothing to offer Him, and that peace will give the prize to patience and put resentment to shame. Do not think that this peace means you will have no conflict, for the Lord Himself said He came not to send a false peace on the earth but a sword that divides truth from error. His peace guards you even in struggle and keeps you from the evil one, for He ever lives to intercede for you.

Therefore we pray for you now, that the Father would fill you with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, that He would grant you a clear hearing of the Shepherd's voice through His word, that He would lead you by His Spirit into what is holy and true, and that the peace of God which passes all understanding would guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus. May you go out with joy and be led forth with peace, kept from the evil one and established in faith, bearing fruit in every good work.
