Beloved of All
Your prayer for hearing the Shepherd's voice and walking in His wisdom and peace is beautiful and fully in line with what God desires to give you. Jesus said His sheep hear His voice and follow Him, and that those who are led by the Spirit are the children of God. It is right to ask to be filled with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding so that you can walk in a way that is worthy of Him.
What you are asking for is not hidden or hard to find. Scripture pictures wisdom as standing in the open, calling out in the streets and at the gates, inviting anyone who will listen. She is not whispering in a corner. God wants to be heard and He invites you to hear. He promises that if you lack wisdom you can ask Him and He gives generously without finding fault, and that He rewards those who diligently seek Him. When you come with thanksgiving and bring your requests to Him, you can trust that He hears you.
Remember that wisdom is more than information. Knowledge gives you facts, but wisdom gives you the ability to live those facts out in a way that pleases God. That is why wisdom is better than rubies and nothing you could desire compares to it. Its ways are pleasant and all its paths are peace. In its right hand is length of days, and in its left hand are riches and honor in the true sense that God defines. The beginning of that wisdom is the fear of the Lord, a humble reverence that turns from evil and bows to Him. All the treasures of wisdom and knowledge are hidden in Christ Himself. To seek wisdom is to seek Him.
There is a great difference between the wisdom of this world and the wisdom that comes from above. The wisdom of the world, even at its best, cannot know God and in the end it leads to strife and inner turmoil. God has shown that the world's wisdom is foolishness in His sight. The wisdom from above is different. It is first pure and then peaceable. It brings peace with God because it rests on His grace. You cannot know the peace of God until you first know peace with God through the blood of Jesus shed for the forgiveness of sins. Once you have that peace with God through His grace, then as your mind is stayed on Him He keeps you in perfect peace, a peace that passes all understanding and guards your heart and mind in Christ. That peace is not the absence of trouble but the presence of His Spirit, the Counselor and Helper whom Jesus sent to lead and teach you.
So continue to ask as you have been asking. Ask for the Spirit of wisdom and understanding to guide every decision. Stay in the Word, where faith comes by hearing, and compare spiritual things with spiritual truth rather than leaning on human reasoning. Keep your mind stayed on the Lord, and trust His leading one step at a time. He who has promised to lead you forth with joy and peace will be faithful to do it.
I pray the Lord will fill you with clear knowledge of His will, grant you generous wisdom for each practical need, make His voice known to you as you follow the Shepherd, and let His peace guard your heart and mind today. In Jesus' name, amen.
