The Lord’s Prayer

Beloved of All
Thank you heavenly for blessing us all with another day.

I pray the Lord’s Prayer today..

““This, then, is how you should pray: “ ‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. ’”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭6‬:9-13

We join you in thanking our heavenly Father for blessing us all with another day and for the gift of life and breath. We rejoice with you in praying the prayer our Lord Jesus Himself taught us, for it is a perfect model of how to approach God with reverence, trust and surrender. As it is written, This is the day that Yahweh has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it. Psalm 118:24 and It is because of Yahweh’s loving kindnesses that we are not consumed, because his compassion doesn’t fail. They are new every morning. Great is your faithfulness. Lamentations 3:22-23. Each new day is evidence of His mercy toward us.

We love that you have taken Matthew 6:9-13 to heart where Jesus says, Pray like this: Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy. Let your Kingdom come. Let your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our debts, as we also forgive our debtors. Bring us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. For yours is the Kingdom, the power, and the glory forever. Amen. This prayer reminds us to first hallow His name and seek His kingdom, to depend on Him daily for provision, to walk in forgiveness as we have been forgiven, and to ask for His deliverance from evil. We are also reminded to seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Matthew 6:33 and to give thanks in everything, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus toward you. 1 Thessalonians 5:18. We also take comfort that If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9.

We notice your prayer speaks of our heavenly Father, and we want to gently encourage you that it is through Jesus Christ alone that we have access to the Father and can call Him our Father. Jesus Himself taught this prayer to His disciples, and He also said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. John 14:6 and There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12. It is by placing our faith in Jesus, His death and resurrection for our sins, that we become children of God and can pray with confidence.

We pray together with you now. Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name, we thank You for this new day and for Your mercies that are new every morning. We thank You for teaching us how to pray through Your Son Jesus. Let Your kingdom come and Your will be done in our lives and on this earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and help us to trust You for every need. Forgive us our debts as we forgive those who have sinned against us, and create in us clean hearts that freely extend grace. Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from the evil one, guard our minds and hearts and keep us walking in Your light. We pray all of this in the mighty and precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, for Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

We were glad to see your thanksgiving this morning and to join you in it. Thank you for taking time to pray the Lord's Prayer and to give thanks for another day the Lord has given.

There is something steadying about beginning the day that way, with gratitude and with words Jesus himself taught us to pray. It reminds us we are not alone, that our daily needs, our need for forgiveness, and our need for protection are all held before a Father who hears.

We join you in thanking Him for today, for breath and provision and the chance to walk with Him again. May that sense of thankfulness stay with you through the hours ahead, shaping how you see both small kindnesses and larger burdens.

If it helps, you might carry one line from that prayer with you into the rest of the day and return to it quietly when you have a moment, letting it anchor you again in trust.

Father, we thank You with our friend for this new day You have made. We thank You for Your care over us and for teaching us how to come to You. Draw us all closer to You today and give us grace to live in Your will with grateful hearts. In Jesus' name, amen.

It is a good and right thing that you have begun this day with thanksgiving and with the prayer our Lord Himself taught us to pray. With a staple commodity withdrawn or with peril at our gates we should soon feel our dependence, shall we not then bless and praise our Covenant God who permits not the appointed mercies to fail, but loads us daily with His benefits and gives us this day our daily bread.

You have done well to take upon your lips those holy words, Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name, Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. This prayer, which may be called the holy of holies of the Word of God, gathers up our Lord's desire for His people. In it we are taught first to hallow the Father's name, to seek His kingdom and His will, and then to bring our own need before Him as children who trust a Father's hand for bread, for pardon, and for keeping.

How needful are those petitions, Give us today our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. Are we any of us sufficiently grateful for our daily provisions, for talents and faculties and friends, all the daily gifts of Divine charity. Many receive their mercies as if they came in at the back door and never acknowledge them at the front door with grateful praise. Your thanksgiving turns the mercies of the morning into worship, and that is fitting, for inward emotions of gratitude are the crowning thanksgiving. O come, let us worship and bow down, let us come into His presence with the voice of joy and thanksgiving.

And what a mercy is contained in that one plea for forgiveness. There is forgiveness with Him, that He may be feared. It is a divine forgiveness, I, even I, am He that blotteth out thy transgressions. It is a complete forgiveness and an eternal forgiveness, not for this sin or for that only, but there is forgiveness freely given for Christ's sake to all who trust in Him. He not only forgave us at the first, but He continues daily to forgive, for the act of forgiveness is continuous to those who are in Christ Jesus. Would Christ have put these words into your mouth, Forgive us our debts, if there were no pardon to be had. There is, and it is found with God alone, through the blood of His dear Son.

Take heed then to pray that prayer with its full meaning. The very prayer that teaches you to ask for mercy bids you say, as we forgive our debtors. Unless we have forgiven others we read our own condemnation when we repeat those words. Some of us have had so much manifest forgiveness, so much outward sin forgiven, that for us to forgive ought to be as natural as to open our hands. May the Lord work in you that sanctifying grace which His Son prayed for, Sanctify them through Thy truth, Thy word is truth, that you may walk in holiness and in love toward others, abiding in Christ and so abiding in union with His people.

We join our prayer with yours today. May the Father hallow His name in your heart, may His kingdom come more fully in your life, may His will be done in you as it is done in heaven, may He supply your daily bread from His own hand, may He assure you of full and free pardon through Jesus Christ our Lord, and keep you from falling, and present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy. To Him be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.
