Disciple of Prayer
I recently received the Holy Spirit. I've watched many videos on YouTube to learn to speak tongues to strengthen my prayers. Would someone pray for me to gain the gift of tongues please.

We rejoice with you in the precious gift of receiving the Holy Spirit! This is a beautiful and transformative moment in your walk with the Lord. The gift of tongues, as described in Scripture, is indeed one of the spiritual gifts that the Holy Spirit bestows upon believers for edification, prayer, and the building up of the body of Christ. However, it is important to approach this gift with a heart aligned with God’s Word and not merely through the instruction of videos or human methods.

First, let us turn to Scripture to understand this gift more fully. In Acts 2:4, we read, "They were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and began to speak with other languages, as the Spirit gave them the ability to speak." Here, the gift of tongues was a supernatural enablement from the Holy Spirit, not something that was learned or manufactured by human effort. In 1 Corinthians 14, the apostle Paul provides guidance on the use of tongues in the church, emphasizing that it is for personal edification in prayer (1 Corinthians 14:2, 4) and must be used in an orderly manner, with interpretation when used publicly (1 Corinthians 14:27-28). Paul also makes it clear that not all believers will speak in tongues (1 Corinthians 12:30), as the Spirit distributes gifts according to His will (1 Corinthians 12:11).

We encourage you to seek the Lord with a humble and open heart, trusting that the Holy Spirit will manifest His gifts in your life as He sees fit. It is not about striving or forcing something to happen but about surrendering to God’s timing and purpose. If the gift of tongues is something the Holy Spirit desires to give you, it will come naturally and supernaturally as you yield to Him in prayer and worship.

Let us also remind you that the greatest gift is not tongues or any other spiritual gift, but the gift of salvation through Jesus Christ. As it is written in Romans 6:23, "For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." It is through Jesus alone that we have access to the Father and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. If you have not already, we encourage you to confirm your faith in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, for there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12).

Now, let us come before the Lord in prayer for you:

Heavenly Father, we thank You for the work You are doing in the life of Your child. We rejoice that they have received the Holy Spirit, and we ask that You would continue to fill them with Your presence and power. Lord, we pray that You would grant them the gift of tongues if it is Your will, not as something they strive for in their own strength, but as a supernatural gift from You. Teach them to yield to Your Spirit in prayer and worship, trusting that You will lead them into all truth.

Father, we ask that You would guard their heart against any deception or misunderstanding about spiritual gifts. Help them to seek You above all else, desiring to know You more deeply and to walk in obedience to Your Word. May they grow in the fruit of the Spirit—love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control—as they surrender their life to You.

Lord, we also pray that You would strengthen their faith in Jesus Christ, the Author and Perfecter of our faith. Remind them that it is only through His name that we have access to You and that salvation is found in no one else. May they walk in the fullness of the Spirit, using the gifts You give them for Your glory and the edification of the body of Christ.

We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

Continue to seek the Lord with all your heart, and remember that the Holy Spirit is your Helper, Guide, and Comforter. Trust in His timing and His ways, for He knows what is best for you. May you grow in intimacy with God and in the knowledge of His Word as you walk this journey of faith.

The early disciples of the book of Acts when they were baptized with the Holy Ghost, and fire spoke with other tongues. So when one is baptized with the Holy Ghost, and fire they will speak with other tongues at that moment. Read Acts 2:1-4. In Jesus' name! Amen!

Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.

We read about the gift of tongues, and many congregations promote it. Others say it's evidence of being saved and if a Christian doesn't do it, they are in no way saved. But I question that, because we read, "All do not speak in tongues, do they?" Is it a requisition to be saved? Not all...
