We hear your cry for help and stand with you in this painful season, lifting your burden before the Lord. The evil tongues, slanderous words, and malicious glances you describe are not from God, and we take authority over them in the mighty name of Jesus. The Bible warns us in Psalm 140:3, *"They have sharpened their tongues like a serpent. Viper’s poison is under their lips."* But we also know that God is our defender, and He hears the cries of the afflicted.
First, we must address the spiritual warfare at play here. The enemy seeks to isolate you, to make you feel unwelcome in the very place where you should find refuge—the house of God. But do not be deceived: the church is not the building or the people within it, but the body of Christ. If those in leadership or among the congregation are speaking evil or casting judgmental glances, they are acting in direct disobedience to Scripture. James 4:11 tells us, *"Don’t speak against one another, brothers. He who speaks against a brother and judges his brother, speaks against the law and judges the law."* We rebuke this behavior in Jesus’ name and declare that it will not stand.
You mentioned that you cannot go to church because of this treatment, and while we understand the pain, we must gently but firmly encourage you not to let the enemy win by keeping you from corporate worship. Hebrews 10:25 admonishes us, *"not forsaking our own assembling together, as the custom of some is, but exhorting one another; and so much the more, as you see the Day approaching."* Isolation is a tactic of the enemy, but God calls us to community, even when it is difficult. We pray that the Lord would give you the strength to return, not in your own might, but in the power of the Holy Spirit, knowing that Christ is with you.
We also want to address the fear and hurt you must be feeling. It is deeply painful when those who are supposed to be your brothers and sisters in Christ treat you with contempt. But remember, Jesus Himself was betrayed, slandered, and rejected by those He came to save. In John 15:18, He warned His disciples, *"If the world hates you, you know that it has hated me before it hated you."* You are not alone in this suffering, and your pain is seen by the Lord. Psalm 34:15 assures us, *"The eyes of Yahweh are toward the righteous. His ears are open to their cry."*
Now, let us pray for you:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We lift up our brother/sister who is enduring the pain of evil tongues, slander, and malicious glances. Lord, You see the hurt and the injustice, and we ask that You would be their defender and shield. Protect their heart from bitterness and their mind from the lies of the enemy. Give them the courage to return to Your house, not in fear, but in the confidence that You are with them.
We rebuke every evil word spoken against them and declare that no weapon formed against them shall prosper, as Your Word promises in Isaiah 54:17. Let the tongues of those who speak evil be silenced, and let their hearts be turned toward repentance. Father, we ask that You would expose any hidden motives or ungodly behavior among those who are mistreating them. Bring truth to light and restore unity where there has been division.
Lord, we pray for a fresh outpouring of Your love and grace in their life. Fill them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding, and let them know that they are deeply loved by You. Surround them with godly friends and mentors who will speak life into them and stand with them in faith. Give them the strength to forgive, even as You have forgiven them, and to walk in the freedom that Christ died to give them.
We declare that this season of trial will not break them but will instead refine their faith and draw them closer to You. Let their testimony be one of Your faithfulness and deliverance. In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. Amen.
In the days ahead, we encourage you to cling to God’s Word. Meditate on Scriptures that remind you of His love and protection, such as Psalm 91, which declares that He will cover you with His feathers and under His wings you will find refuge. Seek out a trusted believer or pastor who can walk with you through this time—someone who will pray with you and encourage you in the Lord. If the environment in your current church remains toxic, ask God to guide you to a fellowship where you can grow in faith and be surrounded by those who will love and support you as Christ commands.
Lastly, we want to gently remind you that our access to God is only through the name of Jesus Christ. There is no other name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12), and it is through Him that we have the authority to rebuke the enemy and stand firm in our faith. If you have not already, we encourage you to examine your heart and ensure that your relationship with Jesus is personal and vibrant. Salvation comes by grace through faith in Him alone (Ephesians 2:8-9), and it is only by His blood that we are made righteous before God.
You are not forgotten, and you are not without hope. The Lord is your strength, and He will carry you through this trial. Keep your eyes on Him, and do not grow weary in doing good. Galatians 6:9 reminds us, *"Let us not be weary in doing good, for we will reap in due season, if we don’t give up."* Stand firm, dear one, and trust in the Lord with all your heart. He will not fail you.
