The former landlord’s Christian sister

Please pray for the former landlord's sister, who has faith in Jesus. Pray that God continues to speak through her, and that her positive influence will change the former landlord. Pray that she is not kept in the dark about the life-threatening apartment that her brother rented to me, and about the evil, immoral woman who had a sexual relationship with the former landlord and most likely hired people to try to kill me.

Please also pray that they both put God first and that our Mighty and Powerful God exposes and destroys every idol

We join you in prayer concerning this very serious situation and we thank God that the former landlord's sister has faith in Jesus. We ask that the Lord will strengthen her and use her as a vessel for His truth and righteousness in her family.

We pray that God will give her boldness and wisdom to speak what is right and that her godly influence will not be silenced. The word says in Ephesians 5:11, Have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather even reprove them. And in Luke 8:17, For nothing is hidden that will not be revealed, nor anything secret that will not be known and come to light. We pray that nothing remains in darkness regarding the life threatening condition of the apartment that was rented to you, and that the sister is not kept in the dark or deceived about what has happened. We ask God to expose every lie and to bring the truth into the light so that accountability and repentance can take place.

We also bring before the Lord the sexual immorality you have mentioned. We must address this plainly because it does not align with biblical principles. Any sexual relationship outside of marriage between a man and a woman is fornication, and if either party is married to another it is adultery. The Scripture is clear in 1 Corinthians 6:18, Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. And in Hebrews 13:4, Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the bed be undefiled, but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers. We pray that both the former landlord and the woman involved will be convicted of this sin, that they will repent and turn from it, and that they will pursue holiness and seek godly marriage if they desire a relationship, rather than immorality. We pray they will put God first and honor Him with their bodies and choices.

We also join you in praying that every idol will be exposed and destroyed. God has said in Exodus 20:3, You shall have no other gods before me. And in 1 John 5:21, Little children, keep yourselves from idols. We ask our Mighty and Powerful God to tear down every idol of money, lust, power, control, or self that has taken His rightful place in their hearts. We pray as in Matthew 6:33, But seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well, that they would both truly put God first above all else.

We lift you up as well for protection and justice. To learn that people may have been hired to try to kill you is deeply alarming and we ask for God’s covering over your life. We pray in Psalm 91:1-2, He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust. We pray that no weapon formed against you will prosper as promised in Isaiah 54:17, and that God will surround you with His angels and with wise counsel and protection. We encourage you to also seek protection through the proper authorities as God has established them for justice, for in Romans 13:4 the governing authority is a servant of God for good. We also remember Romans 12:19, Don’t seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God’s wrath. For it is written, Vengeance belongs to me, I will repay, says the Lord. We trust God to be the righteous judge and to bring justice in His perfect way and timing.

Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, for it is only through Him we have access to You, as Jesus said in John 14:6, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me, and in Acts 4:12, There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. We thank You for the sister’s faith and we ask You to anoint her words, give her discernment and courage, and let her be a light in her family. Expose what is hidden, convict of sin, destroy every idol, bring repentance to the former landlord and to this woman, and protect Your child who has been harmed and threatened. Let Your will be done, let Your name be glorified, and let healing, truth, and repentance prevail. We pray all these things in the mighty and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, Amen.

Thank you for sharing what has weighed on you. It makes sense you would be concerned about your former housing and want truth to come to light, and we hear your hope that the sister who knows Jesus would be a steady, honest voice in her brother's life.

We are joining you in asking that God would keep strengthening her faith and give her wisdom and courage to speak what is right and loving. We pray too that both she and her brother would seek God first above all else, and that anything that has taken God's place would be brought into the light so it can be dealt with honestly before Him.

We also hear how unsafe you have felt. If you are still in a difficult housing situation or feeling threatened, we encourage you to stay connected to a trusted pastor or wise believer nearby and to reach out for practical help locally so you are not carrying this alone. Having someone who knows you and your situation close by can help you think through next steps for safety and peace of mind.

Father, we bring this sister before You and ask You to guide her words and steps. We bring the former landlord before You and ask for Your work in his heart. We bring our friend who wrote and ask for Your protection, Your peace, and clear wisdom for each decision ahead. Lead all involved to put You first and to walk in truth. Your burden has been laid before the Lord and we join our voice with yours in prayer to our God who hears the cry of the afflicted.

We have heard your deep trial and we know that a true child of God may undergo very deep mental and spiritual trials, and that the first comfort is to cry unto God with our voice, even unto God with our voice. From where comes our help, our help comes from the Lord who has made heaven and earth, and He has not left us without a ransom. God in His mercy has found a ransom in the precious blood of Jesus Christ, who was sent in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin condemned sin in the flesh, that sin might be put away and peace made lawful for all who believe.

We pray for the sister of whom you speak, who has faith in Jesus. May the Lord store her mind with His knowledge and His glory, and may she continue to walk in the light and speak the truth in love. We ask that she may not be kept in darkness concerning the matters you have suffered, but that the Lord who brings to light the hidden things will give her eyes to see and a voice to speak what is true and right. May God speak through her, not in her own wisdom, but by His Holy Spirit, to turn those who hear from darkness to light and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins through faith in Him.

We pray for the former landlord, that God who hates sin now and always, who notes sin and is provoked by rebellion, would also show Himself mighty to save. We do not ask God to bless what His Word calls sin, for the sexual union apart from the lifelong covenant of one man and one woman in marriage is sin before the holy God and must be repented of, not celebrated. We pray that the Lord will fight against sin in this case, that He will vex the conscience where there has been rebellion, and then in mercy grant repentance and faith. We ask that both the brother and the sister may put God first, that every idol may be exposed and destroyed, for the death warrant has gone out from God against everything that is of the creature when it is set up in His place. Pride and the great transgression must fall, and the Lord alone must be exalted. He will lift up the poor from the dunghill while He casts down the mighty from the seats of their pomp, and He will dry up the green tree where it trusts in itself.

Concerning the apartment which you describe as life threatening and the great wrong and danger you have endured, we pray for the Lord's protection and deliverance from the pit. He has given commandment to save His people and He shall save from the attacks of sin and from the violence of men. We ask that what has been hidden may be brought into the light, that justice may be done, and that you may be kept safe under the shadow of His wing. May the Lord comfort you as one who has been chastened and made to smart, and cause you to cling to Him the more.

We pray that all involved may see sin as God sees it, and then see the pardon that is greater still. Though sin is a spreading plague and a horrible evil, the thoughts of God toward pardoning mercy are higher than our thoughts as the heavens are higher than the earth. There is pardon for crimes of deepest dye, a pardon bought with Jesus blood, for those who confess and turn to Christ. If any have refused the merit of His blood, may they now cry unto Him and confess their sin, and find that He is merciful and gracious, longsuffering and abounding in goodness and truth, keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin.

May the Lord grant you to say with the psalmist, I shall not die but live and declare the works of the Lord, and may your soul magnify the Lord who has shown you mercy. We commit you and these souls to Him who is able to condemn sin and to put it away forever, and to give access and nearness to God as if we had never fallen, through Jesus Christ our only Saviour. Amen.
