The former landlord’s Christian sister

Please pray for the former landlord's sister, who has faith in Jesus. Pray that God continues to speak through her, and that her positive influence will change the former landlord. Pray that she is not kept in the dark about the life-threatening apartment that her brother rented to me, and about the evil, immoral woman who had a sexual relationship with the former landlord and most likely hired people to try to kill me.

Please also pray that they both put God first and that our Mighty and Powerful God exposes and destroys every idol

We join you in bringing this heavy burden before the Lord and we thank you for your concern for truth and for souls. We hear your heart for the former landlord's sister who has faith in Jesus, and we agree that God can and does speak through His children to bring conviction, truth and change. We also hear the seriousness of what you have endured in that life threatening apartment and the grave evil you describe, and we bring it all before our mighty and powerful God who sees all and judges righteously.

We are encouraged that this sister knows the Lord, for it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and it is through Him that our prayers are heard. As it is written, Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6. We pray that she will continue to walk closely with Him and be a bold witness in her family. We pray that the Lord will give her wisdom, discernment and courage to speak the truth in love, and that her brother will have ears to hear. For we are ambassadors on behalf of Christ, as though God were entreating by us 2 Corinthians 5:20, and God can use her positive influence to call him to repentance.

We must also address what you have shared about the sexual relationship outside of marriage. Scripture is clear that God designed sexual intimacy for within the covenant of marriage between a man and a woman, and that any sexual activity outside of that is fornication or adultery and is sin before God. We are to flee sexual immorality 1 Corinthians 6:18 and we are reminded that marriage is to be held in honor among all, and the bed undefiled, but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers Hebrews 13:4. We rebuke that immorality and pray that both the former landlord and this woman will be convicted of this sin and turn from it to pursue holiness.

We also bring before God the renting of a life threatening dwelling and the most serious allegation that people were hired to try to kill you. These are grave injustices. God hates the shedding of innocent blood and all deeds done in darkness. Nothing is hidden that will not be revealed, and secret things will be made known Luke 8:17 and there is no creature that is hidden from his sight, but all things are naked and laid open before the eyes of him to whom we must give an account Hebrews 4:13. We pray with you that this sister will not be kept in the dark, that every lie and cover up will be exposed. We pray that God will shine His light into this darkness, for it is written have no fellowship with the unfruitful deeds of darkness, but rather even reprove them Ephesians 5:11. We ask the Lord to expose what has been hidden about that apartment and about this evil intent, and to protect you from all harm. We pray you will dwell in the shelter of the Most High and rest in His protection, for He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty Psalm 91:1.

We agree with you in praying that both the brother and sister will put God first above family loyalty, fear, or any other allegiance. Jesus taught seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well Matthew 6:33 and you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind Matthew 22:37. We pray that any idol in their lives, whether it be money, reputation, relationships, self interest or any person or thing that takes the place of God, will be exposed and destroyed. Scripture commands you shall have no other gods before me Exodus 20:3 and warns little children, keep yourselves from idols 1 John 5:21. We ask our mighty God to tear down every idol and to bring them to wholehearted surrender to Him.

We also entrust justice to the Lord while we seek what is right. Vengeance belongs to God and He will repay Romans 12:19, and He calls authorities to uphold justice. We encourage you to continue to trust the Lord for protection and to also seek lawful help and safety where needed, while forgiving in your heart and leaving judgment in His hands.

Let us pray together.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. We lift up this sister who loves You and we ask that You continue to speak through her with clarity, boldness and love. Fill her with Your Holy Spirit, give her discernment to see what has been hidden, and give her courage to not remain silent but to speak truth about the dangerous apartment and the immoral and violent deeds that have been done. Lord, open her eyes to all that has been kept from her and let no darkness remain hidden.

We pray for her brother, the former landlord, that his heart would be softened and that his eyes would be opened to his sin, to the harm he has caused, and to his need for repentance. Bring him to put You first, to turn from sexual immorality and from any idolatry, and to seek Your forgiveness through Jesus. Destroy every idol in both of their lives, Lord, and establish Yourself alone on the throne of their hearts.

Mighty and powerful God, expose every evil work, protect Your child who was targeted, and let Your justice and mercy prevail. Cover them with Your hand, bring truth into the light, and let Your will be done. We ask that You bring repentance where there can be repentance, and righteous judgment where it is needed, and that You would bring peace and healing to the one who has suffered.

We ask all of this in the precious and powerful name of Jesus, our Savior and our only hope, amen.

We hear how heavy this situation has felt for you, and how much you want truth to come into the light and for God to be put first. It makes sense you would be carrying fear after living in a place that felt unsafe, and we are glad you brought both your concern for the former landlord's sister and your own need for safety to prayer.

We are joining you in praying for his sister, that the Lord would keep strengthening her faith and give her wisdom and courage to speak truth in love where she has influence. We are also praying for both of them to seek God above all else, and for anything that has taken God's place to be exposed and dealt with in His way and timing.

For you, we want to pray especially for peace and for clear next steps while you wait. It can help to have one or two trusted, grounded people walking with you in person, someone like a pastor or a mature believer who knows you, who can pray with you regularly and help you think through practical matters around housing and safety. If you ever feel in immediate danger, please reach out right away to your local emergency services or a trusted person nearby.

Father, we lift this sister to You and ask You to keep her close to You and give her discernment. We ask You to watch over our friend, to guard them, to give wisdom for each decision and to bring what is hidden into the light as You will. Bring Your peace that steadies fear, and lead both households to put You first. In Jesus' name, amen.

We have brought your burden before the Lord and we join you in seeking His face in this heavy trial.

We pray for this sister who confesses faith in Jesus Christ, that the Lord will strengthen her and continue to speak through her according to His Word, that she may walk in truth and clarity and be kept from all idolatry. As the Scripture says, Little children, keep yourselves from idols. We ask that the Lord would grant her discernment, courage and love, that she would not be kept in the dark concerning those things which concern her brother's stewardship and conduct, but that all which needs to be brought into the light may be brought into the light in truth and in grace. May she be an instrument in the hand of God for good, speaking the truth in love, and may her faithful witness point her brother to repentance and to Christ.

We pray also for the former landlord, that God who lifts up the poor from the dunghill and casts down the mighty from their seats of pomp would in mercy break down every thing which sets itself up in opposition to Him. We do not ask God to bless what is contrary to His holy law, for marriage is a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and all sexual union belongs within that covenant alone. Where there has been immorality, we pray not for its continuance but for conviction of sin, for godly sorrow, and for turning to the Lord Jesus Christ through whom alone is salvation and forgiveness of sins. By Him all that believe are justified from all things. We pray that both this man and this woman would put God first, that every idol, whatever it be, would be torn from His throne, that they may worship only the Lord. We echo that prayer, The dearest idol I have known, Whatever that idol be, Help me to tear it from Your Throne, And worship only Thee.

Concerning the apartment which you describe as life threatening, and the grave wrongs and dangers you have suffered, including your fear for your very life, we pray for the Lord's righteous exposure and His just protection. We ask that what is hidden may be revealed, that justice may be satisfied and that the Lord who draws His people out of many waters would keep you and deliver you. He sent from above, He took me, He drew me out of many waters. We pray that the Lord would render calamity impossible no more than is consistent with His wisdom, but that He would grant providential interposition, protection from all evil intent, and that every plan of harm would be brought to nothing. We pray that the Lord would vindicate the truth and execute justice with mercy, and that all who have done wrong may be brought to acknowledge their guilt and to seek the cleansing that is only in the blood of Christ.

We pray that God would expose and destroy every idol in every heart concerned in this matter, that He would dry up the green tree of creature confidence and cause to flourish only that which is planted in Christ. May the Lord create in all a desire to display His perfections and to live for His glory alone.

We commend you to the Divine Presence which is the one hope of the people of God. May you know that Christ has borne the stripes which justice required, that justice itself now pleads for the pardoning of the repenting sinner who confesses his sin before God. Cast yourself wholly upon Him, continue in prayer with full assurance that God hears prayer, and rest in the confidence that He who has delivered your soul from death will keep your feet from falling.

May the Lord grant repentance where repentance is needed, truth where truth has been hidden, protection where danger has threatened, and may He be enthroned alone in every heart.
