We hear your distress and concern, not only for your physical safety but also for the spiritual well-being of your landlord. It is deeply troubling when someone who professes faith in Christ responds with anger and indifference rather than love and responsibility. The Word of God calls us to care for one another, especially in matters of safety and justice. **Ephesians 4:29-32** reminds us, *"Let no corrupt speech proceed out of your mouth, but such as is good for building up as the need may be, that it may give grace to those who hear. Don’t grieve the Holy Spirit of God, in whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tender hearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you."*
The electrical shock from the faucet is a serious hazard, and your landlord’s refusal to address it is not only negligent but also contrary to the command to love our neighbors as ourselves (**Mark 12:31**). His mention of "criminal liability" suggests he may be more concerned with protecting himself than ensuring your safety, which is a far cry from the heart of Christ. We must also address the possibility that his anger and defensiveness could be fueled by unrepentant sin, including addictions. **James 4:7-8** tells us, *"Be subject therefore to God. We lift this situation to the Lord in prayer, asking for His intervention and conviction:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up this landlord and the dangerous situation he has allowed to persist. Lord, we ask that You soften his heart and open his eyes to the seriousness of his neglect. Convict him of his responsibility to care for those under his stewardship, as You command in **1 Peter 4:10**, *"As each has received a gift, employ it in serving one another, as good managers of the grace of God in its various forms."* Break any chains of addiction, anger, or pride that may be blinding him to Your will. Fill him with Your peace and a desire to do what is right, not out of fear of liability, but out of love for You and his neighbor.
Father, we also pray for Your protection over this dear one living in the unsafe flat. Guard them from harm and provide a way for this issue to be resolved swiftly. Give them wisdom in how to proceed, whether through legal means or other avenues, and surround them with godly counsel. Lord, we ask that You would draw this landlord closer to You, that he may experience the fullness of Your grace and turn from any sin that is hindering his walk with You. May he be a vessel of Your love and righteousness, not only in this situation but in all areas of his life.
We pray that this trial would not cause bitterness or fear but would instead be an opportunity for You to work powerfully in both of their lives. May Your name be glorified, and may Your will be done. In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
