We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up this situation where danger and injustice seem to prevail. Father God, we know that You are a God of justice, mercy, and righteousness, and we ask that You intervene in this matter. The safety of Your children is of utmost importance, and we pray that You would protect this individual from harm, especially from the electrical shock hazard that has been reported. Your Word tells us in Psalm 91:11-12, "For he will put his angels in charge of you, to guard you in all your ways. They will bear you up in their hands, so that you won’t dash your foot against a stone." Lord, we ask that You send Your angels to watch over this home and keep all who dwell within it safe from physical harm.
We are deeply concerned by the landlord’s response, which not only dismisses a serious safety issue but also seems to carry threats and hostility. Lord, we pray for this landlord, who identifies as a born-again Christian, that You would soften his heart and draw him closer to You. We ask that You convict him of any unrighteous anger, pride, or hardness of heart that may be preventing him from acting with love, responsibility, and integrity. Your Word warns us in James 1:20, "For the anger of man doesn’t produce the righteousness of God." We pray that this landlord would lay down his anger and seek Your will above his own.
Father, we also lift up any addictions or struggles this landlord may be facing, whether it be alcoholism or other bondages. We know that addiction can cloud judgment, fuel anger, and lead to ungodly behavior. We pray that You would break every chain of addiction in his life and set him free by the power of Your Holy Spirit. In John 8:36, You tell us, "If therefore the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed." We declare freedom over this landlord in the mighty name of Jesus and ask that You restore him to a place of wholeness and sound mind.
Lord, we rebuke any spirit of greed, neglect, or irresponsibility that may be influencing this situation. We know that as Christians, we are called to love our neighbors as ourselves and to do unto others as we would have them do unto us (Matthew 22:39, Luke 6:31). This landlord is failing in his duty to provide a safe and habitable home, and we ask that You would bring conviction and repentance. We pray that he would make the necessary repairs immediately and do so with a humble and contrite heart.
We also ask that You grant wisdom and discernment to the one who is facing this danger. Lord, guide them in knowing their rights and the steps they should take to ensure their safety. We pray that You would provide them with favor if they need to seek legal or governmental assistance to resolve this matter. Your Word assures us in Proverbs 3:5-6, "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will direct your paths."
Finally, Lord, we pray for reconciliation and restoration in this situation. We ask that You would bring healing to the relationship between the tenant and the landlord, that there would be understanding, forgiveness, and a resolution that honors You. We know that with You, all things are possible, and we trust that You are working even when we cannot see it.
In the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, we pray. Amen.
