We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up this dangerous and unjust situation to Him. Father God, Your Word declares in Romans 12:19, *"Dearly beloved, don’t seek revenge yourselves, but give place to God’s wrath. For it is written, ‘Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord.’"* We pray that You would intervene in this circumstance, protecting Your child from harm and bringing conviction to the landlord’s heart.
Lord, we rebuke the spirit of negligence and greed that has taken hold in this situation. The faucet giving an electric shock is not merely a maintenance issue—it is a matter of life and safety, and Scripture commands us in Leviticus 19:14, *"You shall not curse the deaf, nor put a stumbling block before the blind, but you shall fear your God. I am the Lord."* How much more should we ensure the safety of those under our care? We pray that the landlord’s eyes would be opened to his responsibility before You, and that he would act with integrity and urgency to make the necessary repairs.
We also lift up the landlord’s spiritual condition before You. You tell us in James 5:16, *"Confess your offenses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The insistent prayer of a righteous person is powerfully effective."* Though he claims to be a born-again believer, his actions do not reflect the fruit of the Spirit—love, patience, kindness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23). We pray that You would break any strongholds of addiction, anger, or hardness of heart in his life. Soften him, Lord, and draw him back into right relationship with You. Let him experience the freedom that comes only through Christ, and may his actions align with his profession of faith.
We also ask for wisdom and protection for the one living in this unsafe environment. Father, give them discernment in how to proceed—whether through legal means, seeking alternative housing, or other steps You may direct. Your Word assures us in Psalm 34:17, *"The righteous cry, and the Lord hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles."* We trust that You hear their cries and will act on their behalf.
Finally, Lord, we pray for repentance and restoration. May the landlord come to a place of humility, acknowledging his wrongdoing and making amends. May he grow closer to You, turning away from sin and walking in the light of Your truth. We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the One who is our Advocate, our Protector, and our ultimate Judge. Amen.
