We come before the Lord with you in this distressing situation, lifting your heart and mind to the throne of grace, where we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need. It is clear that you are experiencing deep spiritual and emotional turmoil, and we want to assure you that the Lord sees your suffering and hears your cry. You have done well to call upon the name of Jesus, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved. It is only through Him that we have access to the Father, and it is in His mighty name that we stand against the schemes of the enemy.
First, we must address the spiritual aspect of what you are describing. The laughter, the voice, and the distress you are experiencing when reminded of this person sound like manifestations that are not of God. The Word of God tells us in 1 John 4:1, *"Beloved, don’t believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world."* What you are experiencing does not align with the fruits of the Spirit, which are love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23). Instead, it brings confusion, fear, and unrest—hallmarks of the enemy’s work.
We also recognize that trauma, stress, and even substance relapse can open doors to spiritual oppression. While we are not dismissing the very real effects of PTSD or nicotine addiction, we must also acknowledge that the enemy often seeks to exploit our weaknesses. Ephesians 4:27 warns us, *"Don’t give place to the devil."* If there has been any involvement with ungodly influences—whether through repeated exposure to certain texts, media, or even unhealthy fixations on a person—these can create spiritual openings that must be closed in the name of Jesus.
You mentioned the "psalms of ###" being read repeatedly. We must be cautious about what we allow to fill our minds and spirits. Philippians 4:8 instructs us, *"Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report; if there is any virtue, and if there is any praise, think about these things."* If what you were reading or meditating on was not aligned with the truth of God’s Word, it may have invited spiritual influences that are not of Him. We encourage you to fill your mind with the true Psalms of David, which are God-breathed and life-giving, rather than anything that would mimic or distort them.
As for the person you mentioned, we must also address the statement, *"LORD, I just can’t kill that person."* We rebuke any spirit of violence, hatred, or vengeance in the name of Jesus. The Lord commands us in Matthew 5:44, *"But I tell you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you."* If there is any bitterness, anger, or unresolved forgiveness toward this individual, we urge you to release it to the Lord. Unforgiveness can become a stronghold for the enemy in our lives. Colossians 3:13 says, *"bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, if any man has a complaint against any; even as Christ forgave you, so you also do."* We pray that the Lord would replace any hatred or fear in your heart with His love and peace.
Now, let us pray together for your complete deliverance and restoration:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up our brother/sister who is experiencing deep distress. Lord, You are the God of all comfort, and we ask that You wrap Your loving arms around them and drive out every spirit that is not of You. Father, we rebuke any spirit of confusion, fear, mockery, or oppression that has taken hold, and we command it to leave in the name of Jesus Christ. We break every ungodly tie, every curse, and every influence that has come through trauma, addiction, or ungodly exposure. Lord, we ask that You would cleanse their mind, body, and spirit with the precious blood of Jesus, which speaks better things than the blood of Abel.
Father, we pray for healing from the effects of PTSD and deliverance from any addiction that may be exacerbating this situation. We ask that You would restore their mind to perfect peace, as Your Word promises in Isaiah 26:3, *"You will keep them in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on you; because they trust in you."* Lord, replace the ungodly laughter with the joy of the Lord, which is their strength (Nehemiah 8:10). Fill them with Your Holy Spirit, who brings love, joy, peace, and self-control.
We also pray for protection over their environment. Lord, let Your angels encamp around them, and let no weapon formed against them prosper. Father, we ask that You would expose and dismantle any spiritual strongholds that have been erected through repeated exposure to ungodly influences. Replace every lie with Your truth, and let Your Word be a lamp to their feet and a light to their path.
Lord, we pray for forgiveness and release from any bitterness or hatred toward the person who has caused them pain. Father, help them to forgive as You have forgiven them, and let Your love cast out every fear. We declare that they are more than a conqueror through Christ who loves them, and that no scheme of the enemy will prevail against them.
Finally, Father, we thank You for Your promise in James 4:7, *"Be subject therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you."* We declare that our brother/sister is submitted to You, Lord, and that every demonic influence must flee in the name of Jesus. We thank You for Your peace, Your providence, and Your progress in their life. May they walk in the fullness of Your freedom and victory, for Your glory alone.
In the mighty and matchless name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, we pray. Amen.
We encourage you to continue seeking the Lord daily through prayer, reading His Word, and surrounding yourself with godly community. If you have not already, we strongly recommend finding a spirit-filled, Bible-believing church where you can receive prayer, support, and discipleship. The body of Christ is meant to walk together, and you do not have to face this alone. Additionally, if you are struggling with nicotine addiction, we pray for your complete deliverance from it. Your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19-20), and we ask the Lord to give you the strength to overcome every stronghold.
Stand firm in the faith, knowing that the Lord is with you. He will never leave you nor forsake you (Deuteronomy 31:6). Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and finisher of your faith, and trust that He is working all things together for your good (Romans 8:28). You are loved, you are redeemed, and you are victorious in Christ!
