We join you in lifting up this request, and we are grateful that you have invoked the precious name of Jesus Christ, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and the power to overcome the schemes of the enemy. Your prayer reflects a deep desire for deliverance from the influences that seek to distract, corrupt, or bring confusion—whether through media, entertainment, or the ungodly patterns of this world. We stand with you in agreement, knowing that our battle is not against flesh and blood but against the spiritual forces of wickedness that seek to exalt themselves against the knowledge of God.
The apostle Paul reminds us in 2 Corinthians 10:3-5, *"For though we walk in the flesh, we don’t wage war according to the flesh; for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but mighty before God to the throwing down of strongholds, throwing down imaginations and every high thing that is exalted against the knowledge of God and bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ."* The entertainment industry, including television, can often become a stronghold where ungodly values, idolatry, and distortions of truth are promoted. It can foster vexation—distress, irritation, or even spiritual oppression—in the lives of those who consume it, especially when it glorifies sin, violence, or worldly philosophies that contradict Scripture.
We also recall the words of Jesus in Matthew 6:22-23, *"The lamp of the body is the eye. If therefore your eye is sound, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eye is evil, your whole body will be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in you is darkness, how great is the darkness!"* What we allow into our minds and hearts through our eyes and ears shapes our thoughts, attitudes, and even our spiritual well-being. If the "T.V. show" you mention is filled with content that does not honor God—whether through immorality, deception, or the glorification of sin—it is wise to pray against its influence and seek the Lord’s deliverance from its grip.
At the same time, we must examine our own hearts. Are we being led by the Spirit to reject such influences entirely, or is there a call to engage with discernment and wisdom? Romans 12:2 instructs us, *"Don’t be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what is the good, well-pleasing, and perfect will of God."* If this "business T.V. show" or the habit of emulating what is seen on TV has become a stumbling block, we pray for the strength to turn away from it completely and replace it with what is pure, lovely, and praiseworthy (Philippians 4:8).
We also recognize your gratitude for Jesus’ ability to solve problems that are difficult to explain. This is a beautiful acknowledgment of His sovereignty and omniscience. He knows the depths of our struggles, even when we lack the words to express them. Romans 8:26 tells us, *"In the same way, the Spirit also helps our weaknesses, for we don’t know how to pray as we ought. But the Spirit himself makes intercession for us with groanings which can’t be uttered."* Rest in the assurance that the Holy Spirit is interceding for you, and Jesus is faithful to bring peace, providence, and progress as you seek Him.
Now, let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We thank You that You are a God who hears and answers prayer, and that You are mighty to save and deliver. Lord, we lift up our brother/sister who seeks Your intervention against the vexation and ungodly influences that come through the "business T.V. show" and the emulation of what is seen on TV. Father, we ask that You expose and destroy every stronghold that exalts itself against the knowledge of Christ. Break the power of any spiritual oppression, distraction, or corruption that seeks to take root in their life or the lives of others through this medium.
Lord Jesus, You are the Prince of Peace, and we ask that You flood their heart and mind with Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). Where there has been confusion, bring clarity. Where there has been distress, bring comfort. Where there has been temptation, bring strength to resist and flee from it. Father, we pray that You would give them discernment to recognize what is pleasing to You and the wisdom to reject what is not. Help them to set their minds on things above, not on earthly things (Colossians 3:2), and to fill their time with what edifies and draws them closer to You.
We rebuke any spirit of vexation, distraction, or bondage that seeks to hold them captive through media or entertainment. By the authority of Jesus Christ, we command these influences to be silenced and rendered powerless in their life. Lord, replace these things with a hunger for Your Word, a love for Your presence, and a passion for Your kingdom. May they find their joy and satisfaction in You alone, and may their eyes be fixed on what is eternal rather than what is temporary.
Father, we also thank You for Your providence and progress in their life. You are the One who goes before them and makes their paths straight (Proverbs 3:6). We ask that You open doors of opportunity that align with Your will, and that You close every door that leads to distraction or harm. Guide their steps, Lord, and let them walk in the good works You have prepared for them (Ephesians 2:10).
We declare that no weapon formed against them shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and that the enemy’s plans to bring confusion or oppression are thwarted by the blood of Jesus. Fill them with Your Holy Spirit, Lord, and let them be a light in the darkness, standing firm against the schemes of the enemy.
We ask all these things in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Redeemer. Amen.
Finally, we encourage you to continue seeking the Lord in this matter. If this "T.V. show" or the habit of watching TV has become a source of spiritual struggle, consider fasting from it for a season and replacing that time with prayer, worship, or studying God’s Word. Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal any areas where you may need to make changes, and trust that He will give you the strength to walk in obedience.
Stay rooted in Scripture, and remember that your citizenship is in heaven (Philippians 3:20). The things of this world will pass away, but the Word of the Lord endures forever (1 Peter 1:25). Keep your eyes on Jesus, the author and finisher of your faith (Hebrews 12:2), and He will lead you into victory. We are standing with you in prayer and agreement!
