Thank You for Daily Mercies and Faithfulness, Lam 3:23, For Salvation, Edification of Former Things, Rom 10:1, 2 Tim 3:15, Focus on God, Ourselves, Our Teaching, 1 Tim 4:16, Grace for Duties, Tit 3:14, and Especially Grace to Shift Main Focus to New Things Isa 42:9, Care for The Flock Among Us, Acts 20:1, Grace to Do Both Ecc 7:18, Open Doors Gospel, Rev 3:7-8...

Our Father in Heaven, Thank You for meeting all our needs up until present and continuing to do the same, surely Your Merciful Devotion to Your People is daily and Your Great Faithfulness an ever-present certainty amidst an ever changing life and world, Lam 3:23. Firstly, our prayer and private devotion and study even need those mercies, the ability to care for ourselves, our teaching and those You have in a way put under our care requires Your Spirit's inspiration, 1 Tim 4:16, Grace to Pray for Former and Present Relationships' Salvation and enrichment, Rom 10:1, Yet Abundant Grace Focus New Things Isa 42:9, even to be on guard for ourselves and the flock of God Your placed under our charge, Acts 20:28-31.

We ask abundant mercy and grace to Do Both Ecc 7:18, Open the Heavens for Prayer and Study, Open Doors for Evangelism, Fellowship and Counseling Rev 3:7-8... So thank You for what has been accomplished this far, 1 Sam 7:12, for time in worship, prayer and listening to the Word, souls, seeds, travel, transportation, finances, lodging and all the prayers You've answered and more, Eph 3:20. Thank You especially for the quiet, inexpensive, accommodating boarding, Acts 28:30-31, close to my aging patriarchal and matriarchal figures, and ask You give them assistance in practical and spiritual matters and allow me to further Your work in their lives along the same line, even with some godly company showing piety at home, 1 Tim 5:4, giving honor to whom honor is due, Rom 13:7, Eph 6:2-3.

We ask for grace to take hold of one thing without letting go of the other, Ecclesiastes 7:18, to continue to intercede for my distant matrimonial's full, authentic repentance to life and full trust in Christ and be regenerated, and the prodigy to be saved early, Rom 10:1, and protected and directed into the love and character of Jesus Christ, nourished on Your Word), 2 Tim 3:15, Yet ability to PRIMARILY FOCUS on THE NEW, Isa 42:9, Isa 43:19, Isa 48:6.

So we ask You open a door for Heaven, Nearness, and doors to express the overflow of the Holy Spirit to Bible Studies, Prayer Meetings and for the lost to hear the Gospel, kindly work while we keep still, Exodus 14:14, and empower us to glorify You, to image God, which were it possible, we would not ask and trust You for it. I ask for grace to set all things in order, Tit 1:5, strengthen and finish each task, Rev 3:2, and meet every pressing need, Tit 3:14.

Help our running to be in a way that we might win, 1 Cor 9:24, forgetting what lies behind and pressing toward the upward call, Phil 3:13-14, laying aside encumbrances and diversions that distract us from the primary task of Your call and commission to abide in Your Word and make disciples by propagating all You've commanded, that we might run the race that is personally set out before each of us, Heb 12:1-2... Thank You for the Your love and leadership, the fellowship of abiding in Christ and guidance of The Holy Spirit, John 10:3-4, Rom 8:14, grace to intercede for the past AND for new evangelism, encouragement, discipleship, fellowship with The Body and Bride of Christ, and formal study, Ecclesiastes 7:18. We ask for protection from temptation, Luke 11:4, sin, Zeph 3:13, evil, Matt 6:13, evil people, 2 Thes 3:2, and the evil one, John 17:15. Thank You in Jesus' Name...

We come before the throne of grace with hearts full of gratitude for the Lord’s daily mercies and faithfulness, as Lamentations 3:23 declares, "They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness." Your Word reminds us that every good and perfect gift comes from above, and we rejoice in the ways You have provided, guided, and sustained us thus far. We acknowledge that without You, we can do nothing, and so we humbly ask for Your continued presence, wisdom, and strength as we seek to walk in obedience to Your will.

We lift up the matter of intercession for those who are still lost or struggling in their faith, particularly the former matrimonial relationship and the prodigy mentioned. Our hearts ache for their salvation, and we echo the apostle Paul’s prayer in Romans 10:1, "Brothers, my heart’s desire and my prayer to God is for Israel, that they may be saved." We ask that You would soften their hearts, open their eyes to the truth of the Gospel, and draw them to repentance and faith in Jesus Christ. May they come to know the power of Your Word, as 2 Timothy 3:15 says, "From infancy, you have known the holy Scriptures which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith, which is in Christ Jesus." We pray for their regeneration, that they would be born again by the Spirit and walk in newness of life.

Yet we also recognize the need to balance this intercession with a focus on the new things You are doing, as Isaiah 42:9 proclaims, "Behold, the former things have happened, and I declare new things. I tell you about them before they come up." We ask for grace to embrace the fresh works You are beginning in and through us, trusting that You are making all things new (Isaiah 43:19). Help us to forget what lies behind and press forward toward the upward call in Christ Jesus, as Philippians 3:13-14 urges, "But one thing I do: forgetting what is behind, and stretching forward to what is before, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus."

We pray for open doors for the Gospel, as Revelation 3:7-8 promises, "He who is holy, he who is true, he who has the key of David, he who opens and no one can shut, and who shuts and no one opens, says these things: ‘I know your works. Behold, I have set before you an open door, which no one can shut, that you may know that I have loved you.’" May You grant us opportunities to share Your love, disciple believers, and encourage the body of Christ. We also ask for wisdom and grace to care for the flock among us, as Acts 20:28 instructs, "Take heed, therefore, to yourselves, and to all the flock, in which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the assembly of the Lord and God which he purchased with his own blood."

We seek Your guidance in setting our priorities in order, as Titus 1:5 commands, "I left you in Crete for this reason, that you would set in order the things that are lacking, and appoint elders in every city, as I directed you." Strengthen us to finish the tasks You have given us, as Revelation 3:2 exhorts, "Wake up, and strengthen the things that remain, which were ready to die, for I have found no works of yours perfected before my God." Provide for every pressing need, as Titus 3:14 reminds us, "Let our people also learn to maintain good works for necessary uses, that they may not be unfruitful."

We ask for grace to run the race set before us with endurance, laying aside every weight and sin that so easily entangles us, as Hebrews 12:1-2 encourages, "Therefore let us also, seeing we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, lay aside every weight and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith." May we fix our eyes on Jesus and follow His voice, as John 10:3-4 assures, "The gatekeeper opens the gate for him, and the sheep listen to his voice. He calls his own sheep by name, and leads them out. Whenever he brings out his own sheep, he goes before them, and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice."

We also pray for protection from temptation, sin, and the schemes of the evil one. Deliver us from evil, as Matthew 6:13 teaches, "Bring us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one." Guard our hearts and minds, that we may walk in purity and righteousness, as Zephaniah 3:13 promises, "The remnant of Israel will do no wrong, nor speak lies, neither will a deceitful tongue be found in their mouth; for they will feed and lie down, and no one will make them afraid."

Father, we thank You for the privilege of abiding in Christ and being led by the Holy Spirit. May we bear much fruit for Your glory, as we remain connected to the Vine (John 15:5). We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the only name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12), and through whom we have access to Your throne of grace (Hebrews 4:16). May Your will be done in our lives, and may we bring honor and glory to Your name in all that we do. Amen.

Thank you for opening your heart in this prayer. It’s clear you love the Lord deeply and carry a genuine weight for the souls and responsibilities He’s placed around you. The tension you describe, interceding faithfully for a distant “matrimonial” and your child, yet feeling called to pour energy into new works, is one many of us know. We want to echo back something simple: God’s grace isn’t an extra resource you have to ration wisely; it’s the constant, present help of the Holy Spirit who lives in you. The same Jesus who says “I am making all things new” still holds every unfinished story in His hands. You don’t have to force the balance or fear getting it wrong. The freedom to do both, to pray for the past and step into open doors, comes from resting in the Father’s acceptance, not from perfect execution.

We also notice the tenderness you show toward your aging relatives, wanting to honor them while doing God’s work. That’s beautiful. It may help to remember that your care for them is not separate from your ministry; it can be a quiet, powerful display of the gospel right at home. Keep your eyes open for the small, daily ways God supplies assistance, through a neighbor, a resource, or simply a calm hour to be present with them.

Father, we thank You that Your mercies are new every morning and that Your faithfulness never wavers. Please pour out abundant grace on this person, grace to keep praying earnestly for the salvation and repentance of their distant matrimonial and for their child to know You early, while also giving them focus and stamina for the new things You are doing. Open the doors only You can open for the gospel, and guard the flock they shepherd. Draw near to their aging family members with practical support, spiritual comfort, and godly companions. Most of all, settle this servant’s heart in the security of Your love, so that running this race feels more like a reliance on Your strength than a frantic sprint. In Jesus’ name, amen.

The very burden expressed is itself a gift of Grace, one of those "things freely given to us of God" which the natural man cannot receive. To yearn thus, to be caught between holy memory and holier anticipation, is no small proof of the Spirit’s work within. The soul that cries “grace to do both” is already standing upon the sure ground of the Covenant, for only Grace could plant such a longing where old Adam’s rebellion once held sway.

Yet mark the subtle snare that often attends a sanctified memory. The former things, even those we rightly commend to mercy in intercession, may become a weight if they occupy the eye single. The runner who looks back at the furrow already ploughed cannot run straight. Lay hold upon the one thing without letting go of the other, by this means: let the old concerns be rolled upon Christ, who ever lives to intercede. Send them up the ladder of prevailing prayer in the closet, then descend to walk freely in the new path He opens. His priestly intercession far outstrips your own; cast that care upon it, and your grip upon the one duty will not loosen the other, for both shall be bound up in the bundle of His faithfulness.

Behold, then, the new things He speaks before they spring forth. When Grace does a new thing, it is no mere rearranging of outward circumstance, it is a new creation. Old notions, old aims, old dreads pass away. To shift the main focus upon these new things is to enter a territory where the past’s legitimate claims are not rejected, but reordered under a higher lordship. The prodigal’s salvation is a petition that travels with you; the new Bible study, the open door for the Gospel, the quiet lodging near aging saints, these are the present pillars of cloud and fire. Follow them, and the interceding love follows too, purified of anxious heathenish care.

Grace for duties? Indeed. But Grace that does not merely help you pray when prayer is dry, or serve when the flesh is weary, that is but the beginning. This is reigning Grace, the Grace that marched into the very prison of your nature when you were without strength and made you a new creature. Can it not, then, give strength to set all things in order, to finish each task, to meet each pressing need? It is the same omnipotent favor that lifted you from the miry clay, shall it not lift you into faithful daily obedience? Plead not your own ability to obey Ecc 7:18, but plead the abounding Grace that has already done what your vows could never do.

Walk therefore in the newness that Christ commands, not as those who must forge a key for every closed door, but as those who follow the One who opens and no man shuts. The Spirit’s intercession within you utters groanings too deep for words when the soul wants all things and can name none. The very sigh, "I want, my Lord, I want," is heard in the courts of Heaven with as much acceptance as the fullest liturgy of faith. Take courage that He who "makes intercession for the saints" does so according to the will of God, and the will of God for you is this very path of new obedience mingled with persevering love.

Forget what lies behind in this one sense: it is no longer your primary pilot. The unutterable yearning for a distant matrimonial’s repentance, the seed sown in a prodigy’s childhood, these are committed to a Faithful Creator. Now, to the work at hand among the flock among you. Now, to the open door before you. Now, to the joy of being a debtor to Grace alone, which daily feeds you, daily restrains you, daily calls you forward.

Abide then where Grace has placed you. The quiet boarding, the aging figures near, this is no accident of Providence; it is the hand that turns the wheel. Let piety at home be your first sermon to them, and your intercession for them rise as incense. The God who showers daily mercies and whose compassions fail not has portioned out this season for a purpose that the Judgment Seat alone will fully unveil. The same Sovereign Grace that would not let you go when you refused Him will perfect that which concerns you now.

Your heart is torn between two cries, and this is the very struggle the Apostle commends. Do you see it? You ask for grace to do both, to hold one thing without letting go of the other, even as the Preacher says. This is a holy tension. Yet mark carefully what the Evangelist records: the disciples also once thought the Kingdom of God should immediately appear, and they asked for honors, not understanding what they were truly requesting. They were ignorant because the full revelation was too high for them then. What seemed good to them was a kingdom of this world; but Christ had a heavenly one to give. So too, your persistent grief for that former matrimonial bond, that cry for their full repentance, is born of love, yet you must see if God has not already set before you a new and superior command.

For this is the nature of bonds taken up for Christ’s sake. You see yourself chained by this care, as if locked in an inner prison of memory and longing. But consider Paul in the stocks: his bonds did not hold him fast; rather, they shook the foundations of the prison and loosed the band of everyone else. His chain was not a token of weakness but of a far greater power. When you offer this very anxiety as a sacrifice to God, the thing that once bound you becomes the means by which you are set free to serve the flock among you. The jailer fell down before his prisoner. Your inward turmoil, when submitted to Christ, can become the earthquake that opens new doors for the Gospel to those in your own household and those under your charge. Do not despise this chain; sanctify it by shifting your main gaze.

You have asked for the door to be opened for the New. But observe how Paul acted when he held every right to claim support, to linger, to demand justice. He said, “I have used none of these things,” lest he hinder the Gospel. You have a right to mourn, a right to intercede perpetually in that specific sorrow. Yet the Apostle laid aside even a lawful thing for the sake of the race set before him. If you would run to win, you must lay aside the encumbrance that even a licit grief can become. The former things, however precious, are ready to vanish away, being made old by the new covenant of your present calling. Your primary task is not to contrive the restoration of the past, but to preach the word, to set in order the things that are wanting, to teach, and to image God to those whose salvation hangs upon your present watchfulness. That is the mercy you are to grasp firmly. Let the old weight fall, so you may press forward. The new thing is now; the flock among you is the door that stands open.

The cry of your heart is clear: you are holding fast to God’s faithful mercies while wrestling with the tension between lingering burdens for the past and a strong, Spirit-led pull toward the new things God is doing. What you are describing is not a flaw in your faith, but a moment of realignment, and it is good that you are bringing it openly before the Lord.

That daily mercy you love in Lamentations is not just a comfort; it is a provision for genuine change. Because His compassions are new every morning, the assignment for this morning can also be new. The grace that has carried you until now is the same grace that says the old life is passed away and you are a new creation. That truth doesn’t erase your history, but it radically redefines it. The person who prays for a former spouse’s salvation or for a child’s early faith is standing in a new identity, not the old one. You can intercede, but you do so as one who has been brought into a different kind of life, where your primary energy must flow with what the Lord is currently doing. To cling to a past role or relationship so tightly that it eclipses the present call is to let a good thing become an enemy of the best thing.

When you ask for grace to focus on the new as spoken of in Isaiah, you are not being disloyal to the people you have prayed for. You are putting them into the hands of the One who alone can save and sanctify. The most powerful act of love you can offer them now is to walk in the good works God has prepared for you today, rather than letting a sense of unfinished business with the past fracture your attention. Your intercession for them is real, but your fixation can become a subtle form of works, a feeling that you must carry a weight that Jesus has already carried. The grace that brings salvation teaches us to say no to ungodliness, and that includes the ungodliness of anxiety that masquerades as spiritual duty.

The work set before you among your aging family and the flock nearby is not a lesser calling while you wait for something else to resolve. It is the ministry. As a worker together with Christ, you prove the authenticity of your service not by spreading yourself thin across every remembered obligation, but by faithful attention to what He has placed directly in your hands. To give no offense in anything so that the ministry is not blamed often means being single-minded rather than double-minded. Your request to do both, as Ecclesiastes advises, is wise, but doing both does not mean giving equal space to every concern. It means taking hold of today’s clear duties without letting go of a quiet trust for the others. In practice, that often looks like entrusting those distant burdens to God so completely that your mind is free to run the race set before you now. An athlete does not win by looking backward. The runner who keeps glancing over a shoulder at what was left behind will stumble over the very next hurdle.

So let this be your posture: open your hands regarding the salvation of those from your former life. Ask, and then leave them with the Lord, who knows the day of salvation and who works beyond the reach of your worry. Then, with those hands free, take up the open doors for prayer, study, and quiet gospel hospitality that are clearly in front of you. That inexpensive lodging near family is not a coincidence; it is a strategic mercy for this season. The call to set things in order and to care for those right around you is your primary share in the fellowship of His work. The grace that ordains a person for service is not a ceremony; it flows directly from Jesus Christ, who gives gifts differing according to His will. You do not need to apologize for the specific, present tense shape of your ministry, and you should not let guilt over a different kind of burden steal the joy of serving exactly where you are.

With the past fully surrendered, your capacity to walk through the doors God is opening will grow. He does not always work in the same way. A heart that is truly fixed on the new things God declares is a heart that remains flexible for His leading. Trust that when it is time to release you from one task and move you on, He will send the earthquake to shake the walls down. But until then, do not despise the quiet, steady work of abiding with those near you and building what He has given you. He will keep you from the evil one, and His grace, which has pardoned and cleansed you, will also be the strength for every duty and the peace for every unfulfilled longing.
