Good and Faithful Servant
Please pray for me to overcome a situation that I now realize the enemy sent into my life to tempt me. Pray that this person who was used to tempt me would come to faith in Christ - them and their loved ones. Thank you.

We are standing with you in this battle and we thank you for your honesty and discernment in recognizing the strategy of the enemy. We rejoice that you are seeking the Lord for strength to overcome and that you have a heart of compassion to pray for the very person who was used to tempt you and for their loved ones to come to faith in Christ. That is the heart of Jesus who calls us to love our enemies and pray for those who mistreat us Matthew 5:44.

We want to remind you that temptation itself is not sin and that our Lord understands our struggle. For we do not have a high priest who cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities, but one who has been in all points tempted like we are, yet without sin Hebrews 4:15. The enemy walks around like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour so we must be sober and self-controlled and be watchful 1 Peter 5:8. At the same time we take great comfort in the promise that no temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it 1 Corinthians 10:13. God always provides that way of escape and He calls us to take it.

We encourage you to actively flee and resist. We are told to be subject therefore to God but resist the devil and he will flee from you James 4:7 and to flee from youthful lusts and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace 2 Timothy 2:22. We put on the whole armor of God that we may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil Ephesians 6:11 and we walk by the Spirit so we will not fulfill the lust of the flesh Galatians 5:16. For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but mighty before God to the throwing down of strongholds 2 Corinthians 10:4. Practically this means guarding your heart and mind by staying in the Word daily, staying in consistent prayer, removing yourself from situations or communications that open the door to temptation, and walking in accountability with mature believers who can encourage you and pray with you. Draw near to God and he will draw near to you James 4:8.

We also rebuke the work of the enemy in your life and we claim the victory that is already yours in Christ. We do not harbor bitterness toward the person who was used to tempt you but we pray for their salvation as you have asked, knowing that God desires all people to be saved and come to full knowledge of the truth 1 Timothy 2:4 and that He is not wishing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance 2 Peter 3:9.

We pray together now.

Father, we come before you together in the name of Jesus Christ, for it is only through Him that we have access to your throne of grace and it is in no other name that we are saved Acts 4:12. We thank you for our brother or sister who has come with a humble and watchful heart. We ask you to strengthen them to stand firm and to take the way of escape you have already provided. Fill them with your Holy Spirit, renew their mind through your Word, and help them to flee from every form of temptation and to pursue holiness. Give them wisdom to set godly boundaries, courage to resist the devil, and peace in knowing you are faithful to deliver them. We ask you to forgive any place where they have entertained temptation and to cleanse them as you promise that if we confess our sins you are faithful and righteous to forgive us Romans 10:9 and 1 John 1:9.

We also lift up the person who was used in this temptation and their loved ones. We ask that you open their eyes to the truth of the gospel, draw them by your Spirit, and bring them to repentance and faith in Jesus Christ. Save them and their household and make them new creations in Christ. Turn what the enemy meant for harm into a testimony of your redeeming grace. We ask that you protect our friend from discouragement and help them to walk in love, forgiveness, and victory. We seek your will together and we trust you to complete the good work you have begun. In Jesus name we pray, amen.

We encourage you to keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, to stay in fellowship, and to keep praying for that soul and their family. God is faithful and He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world 1 John 4:4. We are continuing to stand with you for complete victory and for the salvation of those you have prayed for.

Thank you for sharing this so honestly. It takes humility to name temptation for what it is and to turn it into prayer both for your own strength and for the other person's good.

We hear your desire to walk faithfully and not get pulled back into that situation. That kind of awareness is itself a grace. We also hear your generous heart in asking for salvation for this person and their loved ones, not just for your own relief.

One thing that has helped others in this kind of struggle is to think of growth as training more than just trying in the moment. Small steady practices over time can make you stronger when temptation comes unexpectedly. It can also help to make the path clearer ahead of time, deciding now what boundaries will protect you and asking one trusted mature believer to check in with you honestly.

We are praying for you and will continue to.

Father, we bring our friend before you and ask for your protection and wisdom in this situation. Give strength to turn away when tempted and peace in choosing what honors you. We also lift this other person and their family to you, that they would come to know Jesus and his love. Lead each step forward according to your will. In Jesus name, amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

There is mercy in your discernment, that you now see the snare for what it was and desire to be kept from it. That sight itself is a work of grace, for the enemy would have you live in the temptation as a fish lives in water, not knowing its danger, but the Lord has opened your eyes to perceive it and to flee from it.

We will join you in prayer and wrestle with the Lord on your behalf. We pray that He who hears prayer as constantly as we breathe the air would hear you now, and in tender pity look upon you. This leading into temptation, though it be an assault of Satan, is by divine grace overruled for our good, since by being tempted and delivered we grow strong in grace and patience, yet our frailty is such that we must still cry daily, Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. We ask that the Lord would make a straight path for your feet, that He would keep you from the hour of trial, provide the way of escape promised in His Word, and give you strength to stand. May He carry you as a lamb in Jesus bosom, batter the dungeon door if you feel shut up, and bring you forth into liberty, for He has found a ransom. Blessed is the man who is wounded by God, for He will afterwards heal him, and blessed is the man who is emptied, for God will fill him.

We also pray as you have asked for that person who was the instrument of this temptation, and for their loved ones. If we do not pray for sinners, for whom shall we pray, and if we do not plead for those who are yet perverse in heart, we have omitted the very persons who most need our intercession. Our heart's desire and prayer to God for them is that they may be saved. We ask that the Lord would reveal to them the covenant of grace, the infallible truth of the Bible, and the atonement by blood and the immutable love of the ever blessed Three in One. May they be brought with the heart to believe unto righteousness, and with the mouth to confess unto salvation, for the Scripture says, Whoever believes on Him shall not be ashamed. There is no other system or name under heaven by which we must be saved, but salvation by divine grace through faith in Christ Jesus alone, and we pray that this plain gospel would be made effectual in them.

Be encouraged to tell what the Lord has done for you, for a silent faith robs God of His glory, while a delivered soul cannot help communicating the good news to others. You have known tribulation, and you shall know also great deliverance, and then you shall laud and magnify the name of the Lord, saying, You have heard me and have become my salvation. Surely there is nothing better than to perceive that even our smarts and sorrows come from our Father's hand, and to say, The will of the Lord be done, trusting that He will turn all for your holiness and His praise.

Heavenly Father, we lift up this dear one to You and thank You that You see this struggle and that You are favorable and near. Grant strength to stand sober and watchful, to turn from every enticement, and to find in You the way of escape. Teach this heart to laugh at the empty promises of sin and to fear nothing that man can do, while resting in Your mercy and grace. Help Your child to persevere in prayer, whether the answer comes quickly or after long seeking, and to remain close to You.

We also pray for the person who was the occasion of this temptation, and for their loved ones. We ask that You would have mercy upon them and bring them to salvation that is in Christ Jesus alone, with eternal glory. Open their eyes to see their need, grant them repentance and faith in Your Son who alone saves, and draw their whole household to Yourself. Use even this painful situation for the good of many, that others also may obtain eternal life.

May the Lord keep you, establish your steps in holiness, and fill you with confidence in His Table and His promises, which are the sinews of our soul and the foundation of our hope. Continue to seek Him daily, give thanks in all things, and trust that He who has delivered you in the past will deliver you still.
