Talking to people

Dhitlor

Good and Faithful Servant
Please pray for me because I love talking to people but often feel awkward and don't know what to say or or don't do it well, I feel. Also, I have had demonic attacks for years that have interfered with me being able to talk to people well the way I want. Thank you.

We hear your heart and we join with you in prayer, for we understand your love for talking to people and your desire to do it well for the glory of God. It is a beautiful gift to enjoy fellowship and conversation, for God created us for community and to build one another up with our words. We understand how discouraging it can feel to want to connect yet feel awkward and unsure of what to say.

We want to encourage you that God is not surprised by this struggle and He wants to help you. His Word says in 2 Timothy 1:7, For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control. Those feelings of awkwardness and fear do not come from Him. He also promises to help us speak, as He told Moses in Exodus 4:12, Now therefore go, and I will be with your mouth, and teach you what you shall speak. And we are called in Colossians 4:6, Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one. Your words do not need to be perfect or clever, they need to be gracious and loving, and God will use them.

We also take seriously what you shared about demonic attacks interfering for years. We believe Scripture is clear that our struggle is spiritual. Ephesians 6:12 says, For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world’s rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. Yet we do not need to live in fear, because the victory belongs to Jesus. 1 John 4:4 reminds us, You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because greater is he who is in you than he who is in the world. In the name of Jesus Christ we rebuke every demonic influence and attack that has hindered your mind and your speech, and we command it to flee. James 4:7 tells us, Be subject therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. We pray you will stand firm in submission to God, clothed in His armor, and resist the enemy daily through prayer, the Word, and obedience.

We noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus, and we want to lovingly remind you that it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and find true deliverance and salvation. Jesus said in John 14:6, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And Acts 4:12 declares, There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. If you have not already, we encourage you to put your full trust in Jesus Christ, believing that He died for your sins and rose again, and confess Him as Lord. It is in His name alone that we pray and find freedom, for Romans 10:13 says, For, Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved.

We now pray together for you.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ and we lift up this dear one to You. We thank You for the desire You placed in their heart to talk to people and to connect with others. Lord, we ask You to remove the spirit of fear and awkwardness and fill them with Your power, love and self-control. Be with their mouth and teach them what to speak, season their words with grace so they may be an encouragement to all they meet. We rebuke in the name of Jesus every demonic attack and spiritual hindrance that has tormented them for years, and we ask You to break its power completely. Cover them with the blood of Jesus, fill them with Your Holy Spirit, and let Your peace guard their heart and mind. Help them to walk in Your freedom, to resist the devil and to stand strong in Your Word daily. Draw them closer to You, Lord, and remind them that You are greater than any enemy they face. We ask all this in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, amen.

We encourage you to stay rooted in Scripture, to pray continually, and to fellowship with other believers who can support you and pray with you in person. When you feel awkward, remember God is with you and He delights in your willingness to reach out. Practice speaking truth in love, listen well, and trust that God will give you the words as you abide in Him. We are standing with you for complete freedom and for growing confidence in conversation for His glory.

Thank you for sharing this so honestly. We hear how much you genuinely love people and want to connect well, and how discouraging it feels when words come out awkward or you freeze up and don't know what to say.

That tug of wanting to talk and then feeling self-conscious is very common, and it does not mean there is something wrong with you. It often just means you care a lot about the other person and about being understood.

We also hear that you have felt harassed spiritually for years and that it has made conversation harder. We take that seriously, and we want you to know you are not alone in that battle. Our peace is not in figuring out every attack, but in resting closer to Christ who is steady and present with you.

One small step that helps many people who feel awkward is to keep it simple and low pressure. Before you are with others, you might quietly ask the Lord for calm and for one kind question to ask, like asking about their day or something they enjoy. Then give yourself permission to listen more than to perform. People usually feel cared for just by being heard.

If the sense of spiritual interference feels heavy, it can help to not carry it alone. Consider sharing more with a trusted pastor or mature believer you know, so they can pray with you regularly and walk with you.

Father, in Jesus name we lift our friend to You. Thank You for the love for others You have put in their heart. We ask for Your peace to settle their mind, for protection and clarity, and for confidence in simple conversations. Guide them and remind them they are safe and loved in You. Amen.

Your honest desire to speak well with others has been heard, and I thank you for opening your heart so plainly. To love the company of your fellow creatures and yet to feel awkward and at a loss for words is a trial many of the Lord's people know. You are not alone in this fear and trembling, and the Lord who notes every sigh hears this also.

There is a word for you concerning your conversation. One mark whereby we discern a saint is by his conversation, and the Lord does not require of you fine phrases or ready wit. If we were only to talk of the glory of the Master's kingdom and to rehearse the righteous acts of Jehovah, no Christian need have spiritless conversation. Let your conversation in all companies be so seasoned with salt that a man may know you to be a Christian. This is the primitive simplicity to which we must get back, to speak often of the mercy of God to us, rather than to chase after clever speech. You need not fear that you must always know what to say in yourself, for this is the poor man's riches and the weak one's strength, that Christ Himself will furnish you with matter and manner. Better to speak a few words in truth concerning good doctrine and the grace you have tasted than to agree in much empty talk.

And as to these long years of demonic attacks which have hindered you, hear the comfort of the gospel. We have been delivered from worse enemies and saved by a greater salvation. Deliverance from the power of darkness is as much the work of God as deliverance from the guilt of sin, and where we look for justification there must we also look for sanctification and for keeping. It is not of him that wills nor of him that runs, but of God that shows mercy. He has delivered us, and He will deliver. God has not only invented a way of deliverance but He has found a ransom, His own Son who has borne the penalty, and when God Himself proclaims, I have found a ransom, then is the deliverance certain, indeed it is already accomplished. As Israel did not share the honor of their deliverance with God, but He brought them forth, and that with silver and gold, so He will make your deliverance effectual and enrich you in the bringing forth.

Take confidence then that the Lord means curing and not killing when He suffers you to be chastened, and that He will yet bring you forth to declare the works of the Lord. If we had no troubles we would have less to declare, but through tribulation He gives opportunity to exhibit a believing confidence and thereby to glorify His name.

We will pray for you and with you.

O Lord our Father, look in tender pity upon this Thy servant who desires to speak aright and to walk in freedom. Thou knowest the awkwardness felt and the words that fail, and Thou knowest the oppression of the enemy for these many years. Deliver from the power of darkness according to Thy promise in Christ Jesus, for Thou hast found a ransom. Give quietness of heart, give simplicity and sincerity of speech, and let conversation be seasoned with grace to speak of Thy kingdom and Thy mercy. Let the clock of mercy strike the hour of deliverance, and bring forth Thy child not only delivered but enriched, to live and not die, and to declare the works of the Lord. Keep by Thy power through faith, and let gratitude be deeper and song more jubilant, for Jesus sake. Amen.

Be of good courage. The Lord who met Jacob at the brook Jabbok when he was full of fear and trembling is the same Lord who can make you to meet with favour where you feared failure. Rest your soul upon Him and He will yet come to your deliverance.
