Summary (due to privacy): Prayer request related to employment or work situation.

Dhitlor

Faithful Servant
Please pray for me about this: one of my extra jobs involves doing political surveys. The company I work for is not affiliated with any particular political party but does a variety of political survey work. This can range from general surveys that just gauge general public opinions to being hired to do specific projects for specific political candidates and parties. We are randomly assigned to projects as employees and I decided when I first started working this job that if I ever logged into work and was assigned to a project for political views I didn't agree with that I would just not work for that day (it's an extremely flexible job). However, I started to run into issues where I would get randomly assigned to projects sometimes mid shift that conflicted with my faith and would be caught off guard and find myself promoting things that conflicted with my faith to continue working that day. I also ran into other issues similar to this as well. It has been suggested to me to request to my job that I only be assigned to projects that are not specifically affiliated with certain parties. My employers really like me so they may agree to it. In fact, they've even suggested it to me before for other reasons. But I'm still scared to ask and unsure if working for this company is the wrong thing to be doing as a whole. Please pray for me about all this. Thank you.

We hear your struggle and the weight of conscience you carry in this situation, and we stand with you in seeking God’s wisdom and guidance. The tension you feel is real, between providing for your needs and ensuring your work aligns with your faith. Scripture reminds us, "Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men" (Colossians 3:23), but it also warns, "Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership has righteousness with lawlessness? Or what fellowship has light with darkness?" (2 Corinthians 6:14). Your concern is valid, and your desire to honor God in your labor is commendable.

It is not wrong to seek employment that allows you to support yourself, but when that work begins to compromise your convictions or requires you to promote messages contrary to God’s Word, it becomes a matter of stewardship, not just of your time, but of your witness. The fact that you’ve already taken steps to avoid participating in projects that conflict with your faith shows integrity. However, the ongoing uncertainty and the risk of being caught off guard mid-shift reveal a deeper need for clarity and boundaries. It is wise to consider whether this job, in its current form, is truly sustainable for a believer striving to walk in obedience.

You mentioned that your employers have suggested accommodations before and that they value your work. This is an open door, one that God may be using to lead you toward a solution. It is not wrong to ask for what you need to maintain your integrity. In fact, Scripture encourages us to speak the truth in love (Ephesians 4:15) and to let our "yes" be yes and our "no" be no (Matthew 5:37). If you fear asking, remember that "The fear of man lays a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord is safe" (Proverbs 29:25). Your employers may respect your request more than you expect, especially if it is framed with humility and a willingness to continue contributing in ways that align with your faith.

That said, we must also ask: Is this the right job for you long-term? Even with accommodations, working in an environment where your values could be challenged at any moment may not be the best use of your gifts or the safest place for your soul. Proverbs 16:3 says, "Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established." Have you prayed about whether God might be leading you toward a different opportunity, one where your faith and your labor are not at odds? Sometimes the Lord uses discomfort to redirect us toward His best for us.

Let us pray for you now:

Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of our brother/sister, lifting up their work situation to You. Lord, You know the desires of their heart, to honor You in all they do, and You see the struggle they face in this job. We ask that You grant them wisdom, discernment, and courage as they navigate this season. Give them clarity about whether to request accommodations, to seek other employment, or to trust You in this role for now. If fear is holding them back from speaking up, replace that fear with Your perfect peace and the boldness that comes from knowing You are with them.

Father, if this job is not where You want them to be, open doors to new opportunities that align with Your will, work that allows them to serve You wholeheartedly without compromise. Protect their conscience, their witness, and their heart from the weight of promoting messages that contradict Your truth. And if You are calling them to stay, give them favor with their employers as they seek to establish godly boundaries. May Your Holy Spirit guide every decision, and may Your name be glorified in all they do.

We also pray for their employers, Lord. Soften their hearts to understand and respect our brother/sister’s convictions. If there are others in this workplace who do not yet know You, use this situation to open doors for the gospel. Let Your light shine through their integrity, and may their actions point others to Christ.

Above all, Lord, remind them that their ultimate security is not in this job, but in You. Help them to rest in Your provision and to trust that You will never leave them nor forsake them. We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, the One who has called us to live lives of holiness and purpose. Amen.

In the meantime, we encourage you to seek the Lord in prayer and fasting about this decision. Ask Him to confirm His will through His Word, through wise counsel from fellow believers, and through the peace that comes from obedience. If you do decide to request accommodations, do so with humility and a spirit of cooperation, trusting that God can use even this conversation for His glory. And if He leads you to leave this job, trust that He has something better prepared for you, something that will allow you to serve Him without reservation.

Remember, "The steps of a man are established by the Lord, when he delights in his way" (Psalm 37:23). Whether you stay or go, commit your path to Him, and He will direct your steps. You are not alone in this. We stand with you, believing that God will make a way where there seems to be no way.

We’ve been thinking about this situation and want you to know we’re lifting it up to the Lord with you. It takes real courage to stand firm in your faith while navigating these kinds of challenges at work. We can only imagine how unsettling it must be when assignments suddenly pull you in a direction that doesn’t align with what you believe. The fact that you’ve already tried to protect your conscience in small ways shows how much this matters to you, and that’s a beautiful thing.

It might help to remember that God honors our desire to honor Him, even when the path isn’t perfectly clear. Maybe this is an opportunity to have an honest conversation with your employers about what you’re comfortable with. If they’ve been supportive before, there’s a chance they’ll take your request seriously. But if the uncertainty or the pressure of being put in tough spots continues, it might be worth prayerfully considering whether this role is where God wants you long-term.

Either way, we trust that God sees your heart and will guide you. He hasn’t left you to figure this out alone. Let’s ask Him together right now.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

We want to thank you for the privilege of standing with you in prayer during this time of uncertainty in your work situation. It has been our joy to lift your concerns to the Lord, asking Him to guide your steps and give you clarity as you navigate these challenges. We have prayed specifically for wisdom as you consider whether to request a change in your project assignments, and for peace in your heart as you weigh whether this job aligns with your faith and values.

If the Lord has already provided an answer—whether through a change in circumstances, a sense of peace, or a clear direction—we would love to hear your praise report so we can rejoice with you. If you’re still waiting on the Lord’s guidance or facing new challenges, please don’t hesitate to share them again so we can continue to intercede on your behalf.

Above all, we pray that you would feel the Father’s presence with you in this season, drawing near to Him as you seek His will. May He grant you courage to act in faith, discernment to recognize His leading, and grace to walk in obedience. We stand with you, trusting that He who began a good work in you will bring it to completion in His perfect timing.

In Jesus’ Name, we pray. Amen.
